Weekend update

Sunday, September 05, 2010

On Saturday we went to Edinburg for the farmer market. It was the wrong weekend. So we drove to Harlingen for Jackson Street Days. We were that 15 mins. It started to pour rain. We drove to Mercedes Street days no action but I did get some replacement parts for my blender.

Today I was determined to go bike riding. I used to go every Sunday. We went to our local Wild life Refuge Santana Wildlife Refuge but it was closed because of the flooding a few months ago. Then we drove to Mission about 30 miles away to go to the Bentsen State park but it was closed also. At least we got to ride to and from the park a 10 mile trip. I wish there was a safe place to ride my bike in my area.
So I think for the weekend we have spent more time just driving around. Next weekend will be better.

Sounds like the weather put a real "damper" on your plans - hope next weekend is better.

Wow you should have asked me about the Parks - I know which ones are closed and open due to the flooding.

What a day you had with catch and miss - I would have given up but you have such determination!

You do that. Call me and if I am home I will drive you to a park which has a running, walking trail not far from my home.

Be thankful

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

I am thankful I can choose what to eat.
I am thankful that I can walk.
I am thankful I have a family to get upset at.
I am thankful I have a son to worry about.
I am thankful that I have 2 beautiful daughter who help me dress in style.
I am thankful for a wonderful husband to just sit and watch TV with.
I am thankful for a wonder house.
I am thankful I have a job to stress me out.
I am thankful for wonderful friends who keep me on track.

I am thankful I had time to lose weight.

I did not always think this way. Many night I would ask God to call me home. I lost weight and my anger at myself for being fat.
Everyday we need to count our Blessing.

Being "thankful" is one of the best feeling we can have. GOD is always good! Sometimes we are blind to that fact. No matter what happens in life, there is always good that comes from it! emoticon emoticon

Rocky hit the road

Monday, August 30, 2010

Rocky and I have finally parted ways. He was not good for me at all. I thought he was my best friend. He was always there when I was upset, feeling depressed or needing a good cry. Many nights I would get Rocky and pour my heart out. But after many years of being together I have walked away from him. He made my knees weak. He made my back hurt. He left me with a heavy heart as well as everything else heavy. He was just no good for me.

So ROCKY ROAD you are history and I will not see you any more. In the store when you are calling to me I will walk on by. When my daughter brings you home I will not look at you. I have changed and there is no room for you. Good bye forever.

Nopals anyone

Sunday, August 29, 2010

The weekend goes by so fast.
Got up late and went walking at 8:30am. It was hot so I only walked 3 miles. Then we went to Harlingen to eat lunch El Rancho. I had Egg Whites, Nopals no oil. and beans. It was so good. This time they added chiles, cilantro, tomatoes to the nopals. My husband said it was Nopals Americans. Some of you may ask what are nopals Cactus with no spines thank you. It is a miracle food. It lower diabetes, high blood pressure and much more. They are very slimy but here in South Texas I can find them already cut and fresh so they are not so slimy. My husband likes them with chorizo or Mexican Sausage.

Then to Lane Bryant to get bras for my daughter. She is size 42 B it is hard to find that size but we found them there. In the bras there are little water bags what are those. If anyone can tell me.

Home for a nap. What a great day.

I think the cactus must be lonely, they have no pals because they just rub everyone the wrong way!

I had no breakfast, left home around 8:00 for church got out of church around 1:00, went to a Mexican restaurant for a buffet. Ate way too much. Did have fruit ad veggies though and too much meat though as I don't get full without meat. Tonight will have left overs at home.
I like nopales but not egg whites. I want the whole egg and they aren't so bad for you after all they say. Oh well, who knows.
Will have a left over tonight, very light.
Good for you for eatig well. emoticon

Friday Football

Saturday, August 28, 2010

Friday was such a fun day at work. We got a new computer lab manager and he was one of my co-workers from my old school. I am so happy to see him, but even more happy to get our computer lab going. I went to my middle school principal's for chalupas the off to the football game. I do not like football. I go to watch the band and talk with my sister-in-law. I have had the same seat for 24 years next to the same people. So anyway two ladies come with there 4 kids. The youngest a boy about 2 is sitting behind me and kicking me, bumping me and crawling on me. The mother was so embarrassed. Not me !!! I am used to it. I did not mind. I think the game is a family time. My kids did it when they were little. The boy was not being mean he was just playing. Anyway toward the end of the game she asks me my name and I tell her. She was the daughter of a good friends of ours all grown up. I was so shocked that she remembered me and I was so glad that I was nice to her kids. God really does work in unusual ways. Angels are everywhere even in little boys at the football game.
