Where would I be without TOPS (take off pound sensibly)

I have been heavy all my life.
When I graduated HS I was 190lb
I am one of the few people that can say I weigh what I did in HS.
I have lost and gained so much weight.

When I was in WW I lost weight and became a lifetime member 140.
Quite and had my second baby 200lbs.

Joined TOPS and lost 50lbs. So proud.

Quite and had my third baby. Rejoined TOPS but could never get down to goal. Quite again went up to my highest of 250 but at the doctors 260. That was 3 years ago.

Each time it gets harder. Fad diets, low carb, diet pills there is no fast way.
I am glad this time to have a support group of TOPS and my Spark teams to help me on my journey to weight loss.

So today I weighted in at 193lbs. No my lowest but on my way. Summer is here and I am in my summer boot camp vacation from school mentality.
1.Writing down what I eat.
2. Walking daily and swimming and working in the yard (in 90 degree weather)
3. Staying away from sugar
4. Drinking lots of water

Winter will be here soon and then I know my friends will be there to support me.
Give me advice how do you handle exercise, work and weight loss.
Getting home late no supper, skipping lunch because there is no time to eat, eating while you are grading papers or on the computer because there is no time.
Stress gets me every school year or maybe it is time management????

So were would I be without my support group TOPS I would be a unhealthy 300lbs.

    Hi, I just transferred to a new TOPS group because my former group closed. I like this one much better because the leader/program person is very focussed. I need someone like that. I gained 11 lbs since the former group closed March 30 and today April 10th. See how I get when I have no imposed structure. The exchange system is being re-learned by me and at least I have no cravings. Going to exercise now.

    I am a TOPS member and I love my TOPS group. We do contests and have lively discussions. My TOPS pals are always there to provide support when I need it. TOPS is a not-for-profit organization, which is great! And very inexpensive for all of the support and advice you get. Membership includes a monthy subscription to the TOPS magazine which is very inspirational.

Exercise in the park

Woke up late today but I still went out walking. It was a beautiful over-cast day so it was only in the 80's. I was listening to a wonderful audiobook so I did not want to stop(Games of Thrones)
Before I knew it I had walked 6 miles. To cool off I went for a quick swim. Just 15 mins but enough to relax the legs and stretch out.

I may not do this everyday but for today. emoticon

Back on track

I have been trying to get my laptop to allow me to blog for several weeks. Today out of the blue it has allowed to to finally blog.
I love summer. In the Spring I get off track. It seems I took the detour on the road to success. emoticon Stress ahead.

I looked forward to the summer so I could get back on track. I have been trying to walk at least 3 miles per day. I am also biking, kayaking and swimming not daily but when I can.

I have been faithfully keeping my journal, measuring my food, watching my portions and drinking water.

I know these are the tools are the things that will help me avoid all the unhealthy foods.

Spiders and tortise Whooo

I have not been able to blog for awhile. My computer has been acting up.
I have been going up and down both with weight and the emotions. The stress of work is always the hardest now and I need to stay focused so not to gain.

At TOPS we are working threw the Book Day One the new members guide. It reminded me how I have made goals in the past and how I have achieved these goals. I would exercise everyday no matter how I felt. If I ate a few calories extra the next day I at less and exercised more.
So today my husband and I went walking at our local state park Estero Llano. Every time we go there we see something different.
There were many birders there so we try to stay out of their way and go to the back of the park.
Today we saw a beautiful Tarantula
It was on the road just minding its own business did not even run when we taking pictures of it. As we continued we also saw a beautiful Toritise
They are endangered because they are so beautiful and docile.
It is only a 3 mile walk but there are always things to see.

    nice pictures, can't imagine seeing a spider that large. Three miles is quite an accomplishment, and with scenery like that it would be easy to go that far. Keep on making the exercise fun. emoticon

    I found, or should I say they found me, a lot of tarantulas in Mexico. They always hunted me out. They are not my favorite thing but like them better than snakes. Also had scorpions in my shower many times. Yikes.

TOPS Funday 2012

On Saturday I attended the 2012 Funday for my areas TOPS chapter. TOPS is a weight loss support group I belong to. I attended weekly meetings and have weekly weigh ins. TOPS is a support group. I am with people who feel about food just like I do. TOPS keeps me accountable to myself.

So this is our annual event when our Coordinator Kay Brown gives out awards for weight loss and exercise. The theme of the party was pajamas. It was great to be comfortable all day in my pajamas. I was happy to get 2nd in the exercise with 1345 miles. I just used the miles I walked at the park or on the treadmill. Next year maybe I will include the miles I walk at work using my pedometer.

My sparkfriends and TOPS friends were at the Funday.
Karen out Texas State Queen gave a very inspirational talk about how she lost her weight and how she continues her struggles with keeping off the weight.

My sparkfriend Irene got the WOW award. Winners over Weight
Manytimes we are with friends who do not understand our struggles. It is great to get together with a group of people who know how I feel. I am motivated to continue my weight loss journey an to stay on the road to success.
