10 miles I did it

Today I got up and got ready for my 10 mile run for the Hospice House in my area. Well I went to the park there was nobody there. Yup I got the dates wrong. It is next week. Oh well I started walking anyway it was a beautiful day.
Ok it took me 3 hours to walk but I was having fun and pushing myself.
I did not bring water with me so I had to stop several time. The drinking fountains did not work. I did find a water faucet. I was able to wash out my mouth and get a drink with my hands. Public water tastes great when you are thirsty.

So now it is night and I am proud to say I did it. And I lived to tell about it. I am walking around and feel great. I will be ready for next week. Next week I will take water with me.

My first 10 mile challenge

On Saturday I am challenging myself to walk 10 miles for a walkathon for The Hospice House in my community. I really think that hospice care is important and I am blessed to have two legs that are strong and healthy so I can walk

I do not know if I can do it.
I walk every morning 3 miles. 6 miles is easy for me. I am challenging myself to 10 miles.
So on Saturday I hope it does not rain and I hope it is a wonderful day to go walking.
For me rain or shine I will walk.
I will pray for all the people who need hospice and rejoice for the life I have and the blessing I have.
So join me on Saturday and pray for all the people who are in Hospice care.
And pray for me as I walk my 10 miles.

    Hospice is such an awesome program! I wish I lived closer because I would go out and walk for it to but there is no run or walk like that anywhere near where I live. My mom was on hospice before she passed away 2 years ago and it was such a huge blessing!
Thanks for the goodie you sent me about my goals. I know you'll rock it on Saturday! Good for you!

Eating out healthy

I have been on vacation and for the past few day my husband and I have been eating out for lunch. It is always a challenge for me to find place to eat out and be healthy. I am tired of salads and chicken sandwiches.

Tues I went to Denny's and had the Fit Omelette it was very good. I am not big fan of spinach but I liked it in the Omelette. I even went a bought some spinach so I can experiment with it.

Weds we went to Panda Express. I had the Vegs., Chicken & Beans and Chicken Chashew. When we came home I added up the calories 650. OMG Then I added up my husband's meal 1535 calories. I am glad I have saved my calories for the day. I had around 700 cals to spend.

Thurs back to Denny's I had the healthy whole wheat pancakes. Bad service but I had a good meal.
I have read many blogs about eating out and places people go. I have some friends who eat out regularly and they tell me with a little effort you can eat healthy and have fun dinning out.
Now I have some new favorite places to go.

Help Me Tell me what to take to the family Christmas Eve Party

I did not handle the holiday parties at work very well.
Everyday for 12 days before the vacation people brought goodies to school.
For the first few days I just ignored them and I did not eat.
But people really got insulted that I did not participate and eat the things they brought.
I was like I personally insulted them.
So I would go and just take a taco, a cookie or something.
Then the last 2 days I was so busy I did not eat breakfast so I was hungry (mistake)I was stressed out and I ate the sweets.

So now next challenge
Every Christmas Eve we get together at my sister-in-laws.
My husband makes the fajitas, chicken wings and I take salad and veg tray.
I have stopped making Christmas Cookies because I can not stay away from them.
My daughters are old enough and they make the cookies. I try to stay away.
But the cookies and the Christmas candies are so good.
I do not want to deny myself but I need some help.
If I have just one cookie it turns to two, three, four until I have eaten tooooooo many.

I need a plan
1. I will eat some yogurt before I go so I am not hungry.
2. I will drink water and not diet soda or any mixed drinks
3. I will keep my plate full of carrots to nibble on.
4. I will stay out of the kitchen.

What more can I do?
What are you going to do to handle the holiday parties?

    Just be allergic to all the sweets and food like me and know that you will suffer!!!

What I will do tonight before I go to my mom's annual Christmas Eve gathering is have my regular meal an hour before and then I won't be tempted. Granted I will cheat a little but I don't want to be sick the rest of the vacation!

I cheated a little on our last day of work - just so that I could taste - but it is over.

Pudding Jello Sugar Free/Fat Free Pistachio - 1 package
Crushed Pineapple w/juice 1 can 20oz.
Kraft Cool Whip FREE (Fat Free Whipped Topping), 12 oz.
Yoplait Light, Fat Free Yogurt Very Vanilla, 6oz.

Put the crushed pineapple into a large bowl with the juice).Sprinkle the pudding mix over the crushed pineapple.
Dump in the Cool Whip and the yogurt.
Chill & serve.

    You will be surprised at how much is no longer about feeling deprived, but instead is a good habit. You don't have to stress about what not to eat, you are doing wonderfully well. The holiday is for peace, love, good friends, creating memories, relaxing, smiling, sharing. Please partake of all the good things.
If a cookie or two or ten find their way into your mouth while you are smiling, then so be it!

    Buy yourself one of the Weight Watches Smart Ones dessert and tell yourself that is your special treat for handling things like you really want. You will not do without but treat yourself to one of those. One of life's hardest lesson (it seems for girls) is learning to not be a people mom told me when she saw I had a problem with that...if you try to please everyone, no one will be pleased but if you please yourself that means one person will be pleased..YOURSELF:). You can do it! We are out here cheering you on. emoticon emoticon

    Brewmasterbill had a good answer. Taste whatever you want then remember where you came from and don't want to go back to. You want to be a queen, no?
Remember you have 2 pounds to lose before the end of the year. Two pounds are easier to lose than 5 or 10
Also you could take a fresh fruit dish.
That helps with the sweet tooth.

    Do you need to keep your hands busy? An orange to peel could help.

I like your ideas of the carrot sticks...

I don't usually chew gum, but gum in your mouth could keep you from chowing down on cookies...

  Im with BREWMASTERBILL. Im going to eat whatever I want on those days. I truly believe that it is more about what you do everyday than on that one or two days. Im not a big turkey fan so Thanksgiving was not an issue for me but Christmas offers tamales and other yummy stuff. Its also at my home so I am not going to worry myself about it. The following day however I will get back on track... Good luck to you!

Oh, by the way, i read somewhere that ginger snaps or ginger bread cookies are actually okay to eat so maybe you could look into that for a little bit of sweetness.

    I've been doing really good since Thanksgiving and don't want to gain back what I've managed to lose since then. We have 2 gatherings besides the breakfast and dinner that I'll make at home on Christmas Day. I'm taking some BBQ beef and a veggie pizza to one gathering and some baked chicken fingers to the other one. I'll probably take some fruits and veggies too so my husband and I can have healthy things to snack on.

    I'm also doing your water idea. They have these specialty waters that are mint flavored- quells my desire for chocolate a little, and I allow extra in the budget to get a ton of them.

    Don't let people bother you, their attitudes are their problem, it's your body. I ate junk on Monday, student brought me cookies and rich brownie for her birthday. They were good but NOT great so I wasted my calories and that made me upset that I kept eating hoping the last bite would be the best. I know I have to do better at my mom's. She is 82 but will have a spread big enough to feed an army. She is a great cook so that doesn't help plus I am more out of control when I see others eating. I need to take your tips and apply them. Thanks and hang in there!!

    Personally, I plan to eat whatever I want for these occasions. A couple of days isn't going to make or break. Leading up to the event, I tend to eat a bit under my calorie range to save up calories. You can also employ some of your techniques like eating more of the carrots and such.

End of the year

I am on vacation from work A big difference. I can walk now 9 miles. Ok understand that most days I walk between 6000-10000 steps just at work. So this year I thought I would make myself have a Christmas boot came. I try to walk 6 miles in the morning and then another 3 mile by the end of the day. Ok my feet hurt but that is just like I feel at work.

My goal is to be below my weight at the beginning of the year. I have 2lbs to lose by the end of the year. I am going to do it. I will have a lose for the end of the year.
Help me!!
