Last year 250

Friday, December 03, 2010

Last year at this time I rejoined a support group called TOPS. I weighed in at 250lbs.

I decided many people wait until the new year but I was going to start in Dec. I got a cheap notebook, scale and a calorie book and I got to work.
I weighed and measured everything.
I wrote down what I ate, why I ate and how I was feeling.
I lost weight.
I started to walk. Just 10 mins in the morning and 10 at night.
I lost weight.
During Christmas break I watched Biggest loser Australia on youtube. I just can't get enough of Biggest Loser.
I walked 30 min morning 30 night.
I lost weight.
In Jan my treadmill died. I guess I was just toooooo heavy for it. I bought a belated Christmas gift a new treadmill. Wow am I motivated to walk now.
I lost weight.
for the next months stayed on the weight lose path slow and steady.
My path may not have been straight . During the year I have stumbled manytimes but looking back I have lost over 60lbs I this time I have kept it off.
I now walk 60 mins in the morning. I have run in 2 5k races.
My journaling has not been too good but that is my mini goal this month journal.
Wow what a difference 1 year makes.

Confession I ate a dog

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

I have a confession.
Yesterday I was rushing around and I did not pack a very good lunch.
At lunch everyone was eating corn dogs.
I wanted one but I resisted and ate my soup.
After work I was driving home and I was hungry.
I thought should I stop for chocolate NO! emoticon

A few miles down the road.

My car all of a sudden turns into the store and I find myself buying a corn dog and burrito emoticon
Where is my Spark Guardian Angel now? Where is my control?
I think they are around 800 cals. What is wrong with me?
I had just 15 mins until I get home and
I couldn't wait.
I get home and take a nap. . emoticon
I know being tired adds to being hungry I have read Spark Articles.

I get up and my DH had made supper.
I had to eat it.
Then my daughter made some brownies
I had to eat some.

Ok yesterday is yesterday. Today is today. I step on the scale 4lbs up.
I am not going to get mad at myself. I am doing positive self talk.
I can yesterday is gone. Forget and forgive.

Today my mini goal is I will not eat any Corn Dogs. I will not stop at the store.
I will stay within my calorie limit and eat healthy. I will write in my journal.
I packed a better lunch and I will drink green tea before I leave work so I will not be hungry
as I drive by Burger King, McDonald's, Stripes, Dollar General, Dairy Queen. emoticon

When I drive past fast food places, I picture myself NAKED!! I know how bad I look naked. For now. No corndog or ice cream sunday, or big mac is worth it.

I've never had a corn dog, but I imagine that they are addictive. You can't change the past, but good for you for getting right back on track!

It really would be easier to resist the bad stuff if we were driving by fabulous fruit markets and fresh food restaurants when we are out and about instead of the tons and tons of junk food outlets! My cardiologist is helping me lose weight and I figure I drive by dozens if not hundreds of bad food outlets between his office and my house. After I weigh in at his office I have to chant a manta to get home with out stopping somewhere for bad food...don't stop don't stop don't stop...Our culture needs to change! You are not weak, you are being bombarded each and every day with bad food choices! Stay positive! emoticon

I leave my ATM card/cash at home for this very reason, lol. I only eat what I bring to work, and when I get home, we have tons of healthy food here. If I still really want something, I have to find where I put my card or hid my money. It almost forces me to be accountable. :)

Spread your Wings

Sunday, November 28, 2010

This is a poem that inspires me I hope you enjoy it too.

Spread Your Wings and Fly
A goal is something you strive to achieve
A goal gives you reasons to simply believe
Although itís not easy and often takes time
Step by step it will always get easier to climb
When the mountains of your life all seem so high
Keep taking small steps and continue to try
A beautiful butterfly wasnít always what you see
It was once a cocoon that hung on a tree
But itís still a caterpillar trapped in itís shell
And although you know that itís alive and well
There is only one thing that is longs to try
The butterfly wants to spread itís wings and fly
The goals of your life are there to behold
Strike out on your own donít wait to be told
Come shed your cocoon and give life a try
Have faith in yourself, spread your wings and fly

Stay motivated listen to a book

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

I have been spending time uploading audiobooks onto my IPOD so I can walk and listen to books at the same time. I know this maybe hard for some because I am a librarian but I really like listening to books. I like listening to the story. When I am walking it does not matter if I have gone over the same spot 10 times when I am listening to a new book I am motivated.

I used to listen to cassettes I would use rechargable batteries because I listened 7 hours a week. My kids got me a small IPOD. Now I download podiobooks and podcasts. In the past few weeks I have caught up with all my podcasts oh no what to do.

On the weekend I went to the local used books stall at our flea market. I took all my audiobooks and books on CD and traded them for another year supply of books. The problem is books on tape I still need to use the cassette player. The CD's I download them into ITunes then on to my ipod.
This year my kids say I need to upgrade my Ipod. When I jog I like music. Walking I like books. Such a problem but for now I am good.
I am ready for some good walking and some good books.

I like audio books too. We use them when we take a vacation, makes the miles seem so much less.
I haven't figured out HOW to down load to my Ipod.
any tips?? :)
