Getting derailed on the small things.

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

I slept in. Missed my run.

My new $$$ running shoes got a hole in them. Missed my run.

Had to return my new $$$ running shoes. Missed my run.

Have old shoes I could use, Missed my run.

A friend on Facebook is killing it and lost 20lb by exercising and eating right. RAN

It rained, I ran on my treadmill.

I ran in my old shoes.

I ran, I did it.

I can't let the small things derail me.

I have to many reasons to do this. (at least 3. emoticon emoticon emoticon )

I can't give in to excuses. (never ending)

Todays the day!!

Friday, July 04, 2014

When ever I say that (Today's the day) I always think of Winni the poo. It makes me want to march.

My 5k is at 7:00. I wish I could just go now. I woke up at 4:30, so now I wait. My dog is wondering what I am doing. I am completely ready, but we are not going any where. He keeps looking at me.

They have a one mile run for kids. I am not sure how it is going to work out. My kids are excited though. My oldest woke up at 10:00 last night wondering if it was time to go yet. emoticon I hope he will get enough sleep.

I have no concerns that they will be alright in their race. They do this all the time. The park is one mile away and I make them walk it. They like to run there and then they run back after we run there.

The only thing is the races over lap so I will have to find a friend to watch them and guide them.

I will up date afterwards. emoticon

First 5k this Friday!!

Wednesday, July 02, 2014

I moved to soon to do a 5k in may. :( I move from Meridian right before the 5k there and Moved to WA right after a 5k here. So now I have the opportunity to do a 5k this week end. I am so excited.

I ran 99% of the time this morning for 3.14 miles in 53 min. I know, I am slow. I don't care. I am moving. I have never been excited to run before. I am focusing on the path and doing it. If I see a bunny (apparently not a rare thing here) I either stop to look or just keep going with out a second thought.

I wear a hat and sunglasses when I run, the sunglasses helps keep the wind out of my eyes so I am not shedding tears. The hat keeps the sweat out of my eyes and makes it so I am not gawlking all about. It is helping with my focus. I can't risk injury again.

Any tips for my first 5k? Let me have it.

I have no tips for you, but Good Luck! Just this morning someone asked me to join a 5k charity run this fall, and I hemmed and hawed. Not sure I'm that brave...

Just enjoy your first race. Relax, get enough sleep, use the bathroom early before the race and have fun. You'll be getting a baseline time that you can use to see where you are at in the future!

Good luck on your first 5k! It doesn't matter if you fast or slow only matter is that you finish. The only suggestion I have since the 5k is this Friday just to take it easy until then. drink plenty of water, eat carbohydrates, and stretch. You will do great! emoticon

Just enjoy the moments of your emoticon . I tell people I made be a slow runner, but I'm a finisher. That's all that matter. We finish what we started. Have a great time on Friday.

I gave up on listening to music while I run...

Monday, June 30, 2014

As of late I have been listening to the Old Testament while I go on a run. OK there is stuff in there that is scary and should fill me with fear and adrenalin. However, I feel a peace and a power fill me.

I feel better for it. Like I have been edified and I don't have a tune run through my mind over and over.

Good idea! I have always preferred books to music when walking (I don't run). Non-fiction or fiction, it does not matter to me. I am much more engaged by the spoken word than pop music.

What a great idea! And what a wonderful way to learn verses. I've always believed that spiritual fitness and physical fitness went hand in hand, but that's a great way to prove it.
