Had a hard time getting to sleep last night; it wasn't the Medrol, it was the hip pain. But I did finally fall asleep without taking a sleeping pill, I listened to a relaxation CD and once again fell asleep before it was done. Still woke up at least a couple of times with the hot flashes.
I tried to sleep in a little this morning, but the pain in my hip kept me from relaxing enough to do so. By that time, I could feel it in my knee and back too. I would have taken a pain pill, but since I had to drive into town for groceries, I had to wait. I don't take my Darvocet if I have to be driving.
I gave up around 9am trying to sleep and got up, taking my time eating my breakfast. I left the house around 10am. I stopped at Fashion Bug first, I had $15 in rebates to use. I've had my eye on a faux black croco handbag there that I really like; I was hoping it would be on sale, but it wasn't; so I will wait. But I did try on some Right Fit jeans, in a size 6, and they fit perfect! Usually the misses size jeans don't fit me right, if I get them to fit around the waist, they are too baggy in the butt. I usually get my pants in the junior sizes, which I don't mind, but sometimes it's hard to find jeans in the junior sizes that aren't too "teenagerish" looking. And I'm right in between an petite length and an average length, and most of the time, the misses petites are a just a little too short, and the average length is too long. But anyway, it made me feel great when I tried them on, and they fit so perfectly and also felt good too. And they were only $24.99.
I also found this top on the clearance rack, only $6.79. I like how it is fitted at the waist area.
The green isn't actually as bright looking as it appears in the photo.
Here is closeup of the detail on the sleeves.
I also found this pair of cropped pants for $9.99 on the clearance rack.
I also tried on a light weight dark denim skirt, that was slim fitting at the top but flared out on the bottom. It looked so cute on the hanger! But when I tried it on, it just didn't hang right on me, so I didn't get it. But I was very happy with what I came out with; with my rebates, I paid a little under $30 for my 3 items.
After that, it was onto Meijer for my groceries. Didn't need much this time, most of what I bought today was fresh produce. With the pain I was feeling today, I'm glad I didn't have a lot of bags to have to carry into my house.
I took my Darvocet when I got home; it's taking the edge off the pain a little bit, but the downside is it makes me sleepy. But I'm glad to have shopping for the week done. Tomorrow is my Zometa day, and I usually feel kind of poopy for 2-3 days after a treatment.

Friday was the day I started the Medrol; I had to take an Ambein to sleep that night, but I'm not sure if the insomnia was from the Medrol, or if I would have had trouble sleeping anyway, since that happens quite often now. But I did sleep very well; not as well as I should be, but better than I have in a long time. I am on a 6 day dose pack of the Medrol, which is 21 pills. I took 6 on Friday, yesterday I took 5, and today I am down to just 4 for the day.
Hip pain was very mild most of the day yesterday. I wasn't on my feet a whole lot during the day, but I wasn't sitting for long stretches at a time either. I took my time getting a few things done around the house, and tried a recipe from a toaster oven cook book to make some yogurt bread. (It actually turned out pretty well, I'll post the recipe another time).
I did 20 minutes of the Tamilee Webb Fit to the Hits Motown DVD that I had ordered last fall, before my hip problem got really bad, I had never had the chance to try it, but I tried it out yesterday. It's a fun one, but it will take a lot of practice to get all the steps. I just walked in place or made up my own steps when I got lost. Then I did about 10 minutes on my stability ball. I was getting a little sore after that, but still in the very tolerable range.
I also ended up with a sinus headache, which made the whole left side of my face ache, including my teeth on that side. That is also the side that the tooth is on I had to see the endodontist about earlier this week, which he decided was fine and didn't need any work. So, I tried to reassure myself that it had to be my sinuses making it hurt, and it wasn't a tooth problem. I had to take my Darvocet a couple of times for it. It was quite aggravating, to finally have a day with not much hip pain only to have a bad headache most of the day instead. It's been hot and humid here, and the ragweed is starting to come out too, so I think maybe my allergies triggered that headache. I also had a slightly sore throat. So far, the left side of my face, teeth and throat are feeling better today.
I tried another new recipe for dinner last night, and enchilada casserole, that I "healthified" by making a few substitutions for some of the ingredients. I really liked how it turned out. I'll get that recipe posted another day in my blog.
Had to go out and water the plants after dinner too; things were getting dry in the heat. And since my hip wasn't feeling too bad at that time, I refilled my bird feeders, something I had been putting off for a couple of weeks because of how I had been feeling.
Last night, I was able to go to sleep without an Ambien, so I'm pretty sure the Medrol would not be the cause of insomnia for me.
I don't usually shop on the weekends, but I ran out of laundry detergent, and I needed some more filters for my water pitcher, so I made a trip to Walmart around 9am, before the place got busy. Ours here always gets busy around 11am on Sundays, when people are getting out of church. I took my time and walked around about 45-60 minutes. Unfortunately, my hip pain came back just as it was before I started the Medrol. That was really disappointing to me, especially after finding a drug that I (so far anyway) didn't have any bad side effects from. So that means my pain specialist will want me to see that orthopedic surgeon to have a look at it. I'm willing to do that, if it will help. But I hate the thought of going through an invasive procedure and still not have a clear answer as to what exactly is causing the pain. I had to take a Darvocet when I got home.
I won't be doing any aerobic stuff today, but I can still do a workout with my arms, so in a little bit, I'm going to work with my 1 pound weights and do my arm exercises with my exercise bands.
Tomorrow will be another of a long walk through a store, I have to go to Meijer for my regular weekly groceries. Tuesday is my Zometa day, so I won't be up to shopping for 2-3 days after that.

I found this recipe in a Taste of Home cooking magazine.
To make it a little healthier, I used Heart Smart Bisquick baking mix, low fat cheese, and turkey pepperoni. I also used 2% milk.
This recipe is very easy to cut in half if you don't want so many pancakes, that's what I did, and ended up with 2-3 servings.
Good for a light dinner served with a salad.
2 cups biscuit/baking mix
2 tsp Italian seasoning
1 cup milk
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup chopped pepperoni
1/2 cup chopped plum tomato
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1 can (8 oz.) pizza sauce, warmed
In a large bowl, combine the biscuit mix and Italian seasoning. Combine eggs and milk; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in the cheese, pepperoni, tomatoes and green pepper.
Pour batter by the 1/4 cupfuls onto a lightly greased hot griddle. Turn when bubbles form on top; cook until the second side is golden brown. Serve with pizza sauce.

Today I started on the Medrol my pain specialist wants me to try for a week. It's an oral steroid. I saw him Tuesday, but I waited til today to start it, with it being a new medication for me, I wanted to wait and start it on a day I'd be home all day.
Wednesday was the day I was out of town for the endodondist appointment, and yesterday I had to do my grocery shopping.
Anyway, what I am taking is a 21 pill pack. I start out with 6 per day; 2 before breakfast, 1 each after lunch and dinner, and I have to take 2 more before bedtime yet. Tomorrow I take 5 pills, and each day 1 less until I only take one in the morning on the 6th day.
Haven't noticed any difference in the hip pain; it hasn't been too bad today, but it might be that it's just one of my better days. I don't know if I can expect it to make a difference on the first day. I've been very tired today, but I've had a lot of days where I have felt like that all day, so I don't know yet if that is a side effect or not. Otherwise, I can't say I've felt any side effects yet.
But, after 3 days of not doing much of anything, I did get a little exercise in today. I mowed the lawn this morning. It was still wet with dew, but I wanted to get it done before the temps got into the high 80's. I had to sit for a little while and cool off with a tall drink of water when I was done, (and thank God for air conditioning!) but aside from feeling tired, I didn't feel too bad from doing that. It takes me about 25 minutes to do my little yard.
Before lunch, I really, really had to push myself, but I did do a workout with the stability ball and used my 1 pound weights for a short workout. It did make me feel a little bit more awake for a short time.
Our county's Relay for Life is September 19th. I sent in my registration to be part of the Survivor's Celebration. I don't know if my hip will allow me to walk more than the Survivor's Lap, but I will give it a try.
Looking forward to watching the Neil Diamond concert on tv tonight!
