I had the stress test done on the 25th, I felt awful; didn't sleep much the night before because of nerves. The part where they injected the adesinone was the worst; it only lasted 6 minutes but it was a long 6 minutes. It made my chest really hurt, my stomach too. Thankfully that feeling passed about 2 minutes after the test was over.
I had to wait a half hour for the next part of the test, which was just pictures. Mom and I had a small breakfast in the hospital cafeteria. I had the pictures done, then had an hour and a half to kill before I went back for the tracer injection. We went to JCPenney; I got a couple pairs of khaki pants for work, a pair of slippers, and a pink top that was on clearance. After I got the injection, it was another hour before the last scan, so we went to Cranker's for lunch.
The port surgery was Thursday. Mom and Dad were there, and Donna also came. She is so great! I'm glad my mom and dad had someone to keep them company. After surgery, I woke up in a lot of pain, especially on my left side. I found out then they couldn't get the port in on that side, so they did it on the right. They gave me some morphine thru the IV which made me nauseous. They kept giving me different meds for the pain and nausea, I was pretty much out of it, so I don't remember all they gave me. Most of all I was just wanting to sleep. The first time the nurse got me up to walk I got nauseous in the hallway. I threw up when I got back to the room, and got it all over my gown and blanket. After that, I think they gave me toradal for the pain and reglen for nausea. Finally went home (well, actually out to Mom and Dad's) at 1:30pm. By the time we got to Currie's gas station, about a mile from the hospital, Mom pulled over because I had to puke again.
I ended up barfing again around 7:30pm and hurting bad, so Mom called Dr.Pearson and I had to get a different prescription for the pain pills. Dad went to Walgreens to get them for me. I don't remember much about the weekend; I was either at home or at Mom and Dad's, not feeling good. I didn't go to my radiation either Thursday or Friday.
I had to go into the store Monday to get LOA papers to extend my leave. Talked with Gail and Judy awhile. I could not believe it, they had 2 potlucks for me and gave me a card with almost $500 in it! It made me cry, and really touched me to know how many people care about me.
Dr. Pawl extened my LOA to May 31st.
My "doctor day" at Crossroads Radiation is on Tuesday's. Dr. Bott was concerned about the pain I am still having in my left arm and shoulder and thought it could be a blood clot, so I had to go to the Reed City hospital for an ultrasound. That came back that there was no clot.
I had a bad night Tuesday; at first I was starting to feel better after being home and taking a pain pill and eating. Then I had to take some milk of magnesia at 10:15pm. I went to bed and woke up at 2am, my arm and shoulder hurting really bad and then I had diarreah; so I didn't sleep the rest of the night. I called Pearson's office and got an appointment for the afternoon, and they also had me get a chest xray. I cancelled the rads for that day too. Found out I have a small area of collasped lung that was causing the pain. He also gave me a prescription for Phenagren for the nausea.
I went back out to Mom and Dad's, got into pjs and took a the Phenegren and a Darvocet around 3:30pm; went to bed, and didn't get up til 9pm, Mom heated up some mac and cheese for me and made some jello. After I ate I was so tired I went back to bed til 8:30am the next morning. Even then it was hard to get up. I felt slightly better after taking a shower and washing my hair, but quickly felt exhausted again. Didn't do much that day, but I did go to radiation. Stayed out there Thursday night too; had Dad take me out to the store in the morning for a few things I needed. Got some extra stuff to keep out at their house so I don't have to pack up everything when I go out there.
I came home after rads yesterday, I missed my cats and sleeping in my own bed. A friend of mine who I use to work with, Cheryl, was in town and she and another friend I work with, Theresa, came to see me. It was a short visit though because I was very tired.
I watched the 2 hour Grey's Anatomy that was on last night. Tried to watch Law & Order at 10pm, it was very interesting, but I was so tired, I fell asleep before it was over. Got up around 8:30am this morning. For some reason I was very hungry. I got a sample of Kashi Go Lean cereal in the mail, I mixed it with some vanilla yogurt and had that for breakfast. Had a little nausea and crampy stomach after that, but I feel better now. Trying to get a little bit of laundry done now.
The past few days have been rough; I spent much of the time feeling depressed and very discouraged. I really did not think that having to deal with this cancer the second time around would be so hard.
