Sunny Sunday

Sunday, March 06, 2011

It's almost 3pm, so far the shoulder pain is mild to moderate today, a slight improvement from yesterday. Still taking the pain pills for it. Hip is feeling pretty good today though.

I did my Leslie Sansone Power Mile DVD this morning, minus the arm movements again. I think some of my energy is coming back having had the week off from chemo, I wasn't tired this time when I finished the workout.

I worked on my sewing today too, something I haven't felt like doing for a long time. I worked on a pair of pajama pants, have them about half done. My needlepoint project that I have been working on evenings while watching tv is coming along too; it's not perfect, but for my first time doing needlepoint, it's not too bad. I do enjoy it, and want to do more in the future.

It's currently 28F, but sunny and calm. The sun is melting some of the snow off the roof. Glad to have a break from the snow and the freezing rain. We might have more freezing rain again on Tuesday, but it sounds like it will be coming in the evening, long after I am home from my chemo, and possibly another snow storm for Friday. That's ok with me though; I will be home on all those days anyway, recovering.

I still need to put my grocery list together for tomorrow and get my coupons ready; I will do that when I am done with my Sparking today.

Glad you are enjoying your day Shari. Wow! Sunshine! It started raining here during the night and has been pouring rain all day. We got wet leaving church and getting into our house, the umbrellas did not help us much.
Relax and have a good day my friend!

We have had a nice sunny day too. Took the dog for a walk. It was nice to walk outside for a change.

Since I have more free time with one of my online classes ending, I think I might get some needlepoint to do. I enjoyed that when I was younger and haven't done it in years.
I wish it was a little warmer out to thaw the ice we got on the sidewalks yesterday morning, so I could get out and walk with my dog. I was averaging just over 2 miles every morning, and now I've had to skip two days in a row.

The pain is a little better today

Saturday, March 05, 2011

We had more rain overnight, which changed over to snow, and it's been snowing off and on all day. But the good news is that it warmed up just enough to melt yesterday's ice, and the snow in the roads is all slush. I went out for the mail today, and since it wasn't so cold, and there was no wind, I filled up the bird feeders too.

Today was a better day with the pain too; still had to take my pain pills, but they seem to be working better today. My hip and knee are feeling a lot better, and my shoulder and arm were a lot better until late in the afternoon; now that shoulder is hurting almost as much as it was yesterday.

I didn't do a workout today, but I did some heavy cleaning which I counted towards my fitness minutes. It didn't bother my arm and shoulder to do that, because it's my left side that hurts, and I am right handed. But I wanted to get the cleaning done before I start chemo again on Tuesday.

I think heavy cleaning should count as the equivalent of about five workouts, but that's just my humble opinion. I'm glad also, to hear you are feeling better. Have a great weekend!

Getting some new workout DVDs; freezing rain today

Friday, March 04, 2011

Both my sciatica in my hip, and my arm and shoulder are hurting today. I've taken 2 pain pills so far today. For a couple of hours, after taking the first one this morning, I felt better, but then when that one started to wear off, my shoulder really started hurting bad again. Having a hard time today feeling positive that it's going to get better.

During the time when I was feeling a little better late this morning, I did my Leslie Sansone Power Mile workout, but without the arm movements. I also ordered 3 new exercise DVDs from Collage Video. It will probably be almost a 2 week wait for them, because I chose the free shipping option so they will not be shipped out til Monday. I have quite a few exercise DVDs, but most are not workouts that my body can handle right now, so I decided to get some new ones to keep from getting bored with the Power Mile and the Denise Austen walking workout I have been doing for the last few months.

I ordered Jane Fonda's Prime Time Walk Out, and another Leslie Sansone 1-2 mile walk. I also ordered a Tai Chi video aimed at beginners; I've never tried Tai Chi before but I have always wanted to.

We had some freezing rain this morning, that turned into freezing drizzle this afternoon. I got ready to go out for my mail, and only got as far as my porch steps. The steps were covered in ice, as was the hand rail, and I decided it just wasn't worth the risk of falling, so I went back inside, and I'll just wait til tomorrow to get the mail. Hopefully all that ice will be melted by then. We are under a weather advisory til 9am tomorrow.

Shortly after I posted this, I got an email from College Video; they actually shipped out my order today!

Your new exercise DVDs sound good--that's something I need more of so I'm always looking for ideas for something I should try. I hope your pain improves and that the weather does, too. emoticon emoticon amy

Yay for the surprise of it being sent sooner! If you choose the cheap or free shipping, they give you a far off date just to make sure they can get it out on time. I've had the same company one time ship an in stock item right away and get to me in 2-3 days but another time ship an in stock item a week later and take 2 weeks to get to me. If they send something usps media mail, it is cheaper because they basically use it to fill the leftover spaces in trucks - if there is space, it goes... if there is no space, it sits. So if they promise it will get there in a week but it takes 2 weeks, people are mad, but if they say 3 weeks and it takes a week, people are happy.

Good idea to stay off of the ice. You definitely don't want to fall again (hope your knee is better by the way!). More snow is on the way though, so you may want to see if you dad can come over and help clean up that ice. Having snow on top of ice is seriously dangerous.

Hey Shari, So sorry you have had more pain today. I have chronic pain and know what it is like to hurt, especially when the weather is bad. Ice is so dangerous, glad you did not try to get your mail today. My mom always said, better safe than sorry!

I have a Tai Chi Chair Exercise video. It's very different from my other exercise videos. I have heard such good things about it. That is great that your order shipped out today!!

I hope you have less pain tonight and the weekend.

Praying for you my friend,

Believe me, you will enjoy the good spring weather. I have been outside digging for the last two days. The warm sun against my skin, and the spring breeze were undiscrible. I slept so well both nights. And wow, burned those cals.

I hope you will feel better tomorrow. Bad weather always makes my knees ache and my hip will get stiff. I was stiff after digging in the yard. Take care. Blessings and prayers. Joan

Good dental check up today

Thursday, March 03, 2011

It's cold and windy again today; the kind of weather that aggravates my aches and pains, so I am feeling sore all over today. Also feeling some sinus pressure from it, but so far today, no sinus headaches. When I am home, I have been filling my small crock pot with water and adding a little eucalyptus oil to it, and letting it simmer with the lid off, that has been helping to keep my sinuses from getting stuffed up. I don't have a sinus infection or anything like that, they just hurt sometimes because of the weather.

I did my Leslie Sansone Power Mile workout this morning. It tired me out a little, but it did not make any of my aches or pains any worse. I think my pain would actually be worse without exercise, especially my sciatica; when I have to sit for a long time, it really hurts my hip.

I had my 6 month dental check up and cleaning today; everything was good! I was told my teeth are in excellent shape. It's good that I have at least one body part working the way it's supposed too. The rest of my body may be falling apart, but at least I have a good set of choppers, lol!

Glad to hear the dental appt. went well...That's super! Here's to hoping and praying that soon, you'll feel other body parts getting better too. Do we know if the new chemo has the chance to shrink the bones mets and ward them off? I hope so because that would probably help you feel more spry! :)

Great news about the checkup! (Personally, I hate going to the dentist, which is odd because my teeth are in excellent shape. Just something about the whole dentist thing, I guess.)

I'm going to make a note of the eucalyptus oil in the crock pot idea. That sounds as though it would really help my sinuses in the winter!

Wednesday, March 2

Wednesday, March 02, 2011

As I mentioned in my blog yesterday, I had a steroid injection in my cervical spine for my arm/shoulder pain. Sometimes those injections make the pain worse before it gets better, and that is what happened to me last night; I could really feel it especially in my elbow. But I guess that means that the steroids were moving down the nerve like they are supposed too. Haven't noticed any pain relief yet, but it usually takes a few days.

This morning I went out for a few groceries. Didn't have a long list today, so it didn't take me as long, and thankfully, not as much to carry in the house when I got home, got it all brought in in two trips. The wind is very cold today so I didn't want to spend any more time outdoors than I had too.

Had some upper back pain when I got home; not from the pinched nerve, but the bone mets on my spine were hurting. Had to take a pain pill, and it felt better for a time, but now it's starting to hurt again; almost time to take another pill.

I did a short stability ball workout early in the afternoon when I wasn't hurting quite so much.
