Way to get motivated

Sunday, October 21, 2012

Just got motivated by buying a new life insurance policy- they go by your health,
age, height and weight--- I need to lose 10lbs in 2 weeks in order for me to save $20
a month. I didn't know they go by weight. OMG, this will be a great challenge and
motivation to lose weight and keep this weight off by working out daily.
There isn't any more excuses now. My biggest excuse I'm tired or don't feel
like it will do it later.

Also its hard to hold my grandson, my back and arms hurt. My goal is to
workout daily, drink alot of water, portion control and lose this weight.

Good luck on your weight loss. 10 pounds isn't a lot to lose, but is a lot to lose in only 2 weeks. Do you track your calories and exercise? I find both of them to be very helpful to me and keep me headed in the right direction. Have a good week.

We all seem to need a wake up call. Glad you got yours from the insurance company, rather than a diagnosis from a Dr. You can do this and will be so happy that you did.

Support needed?

Woke up this morning just feeling frustrated, etc.
with myself after looking at the scale. Instead of
losing I am gaining even though my clothes are feeling
loose. I have been exercising daily 30 mins and trying
so hard to watch what I eat. My legs swell up with
water don't know doesn't know why.
I cried for awhile not happy. I eat healthy alittle fruit
daily except I need to drink more water. You think doing
all of this the crazy scale would show weight loss.
Feeling very down right now and don't know what to do.

    Hi MOM195;

Too much salt can retain water and you have to stay within your calories line. Yesterday I was at the bottom of it but a few days back I was at the top so it doesn't matter. But I watch my sodium intake andmake sure I stay on top of that. Keep doing what you are and if the legs keep swollening the Doc is going to have to find out why. God bless you always .

I think BPOTTS291 found the answer in your Nutrition Tracker. You are eating too little and your body thinks it's starving. Try to eat within your suggested calorie range and run your Nutition Report Daily.

If you're legs are swelling with water it's probably water weight gain. Try to focus on how you feel and how your clothes are fitting.

Hang in there. I have to agree with Tony --don't allow the scale to be your judge of how you look or feel --are you taking measurements or seeing a difference in how you clothes fit --the scale can really be depressing. Make sure you are getting @ least 8 cups of water daily & watching your sodium intake, especially in the processed foods.

Just keep moving forward, this phase shall pass.

Hi, I looked at your food log. You need to add more calories. Your body thinks its starving so it won't give up the weigh. I know it sounds crazy but you have to eat to loose wt and be healthy. Hope this helps. emoticon

Hello Spark Friend! Can I give you a piece of advice? Please throw your scale out. From what I read you are doing everything right. Really, you are!! If your clothes are loose fitting then you are losing inches. That scale is no good & will mess with your mind. Not sure why the fluid gain in your legs but you & your doctor will get to the bottom of that. Please don't be upset & cry. Don't beat yourself up cause you are remarkable & you are truly doing what it takes to reach your goals. And you will!!!! emoticon

2012 start off

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

I am praying and hoping 2012 will be a better year than last.
The last 4 months was so stressing that made me lose
track of working out and keeping fit. Seems everything was
happening one thing after another. The 2011 ends with
my mom put into a nursing home for 24 hr care. Its heartbreaking
to see your mom age to a point they need nursing care around
the clock and they think they can take care of themselves.

After seeing what my mom is going through, it actually makes you
more aware one needs to be healthy and fit and not to let yourself
give up. You realize how life is so short and precious that you need
to keep fit to live as long as you can on your own.

I know 2012 will start off on the right track, that in middle of January
I will be a grandma for the 1st time and so looking forward to it.

My new year resolution is to be healthy, fit and stop with all the
excuses of NOT working out and keep myself moving.

    Hi MOM195;

My last part of the year was not the best but I just accept it and cook my dinners and celebrate the specials days by myself. Since my husband died it is like I have vanished.     I know what you are going through and am sending prayers your way. The up side is now you don't have to worry about something happening to your mom while she is alone - that was a huge fear of mine before my mom agreed to go into a nursing home. I'm SO with you on the need to stay healthy and fit - I don't want to end my life with the health issues my mom had (she was diabetic) if there is any way to prevent it. emoticon

I was happy I was working out daily and portioning my food.
Eating healthy as much as I could. I started getting alittle excuse. Then I was eating alot of berries and fruit daily
and in a small container. Well the calories were 93 the most,
but I GAINED 6 lbs!!! Apparently the sugar was too much and
no way to figure out the sugar content as to how much was too

Now my hubby and I are eating fruit as only a small handful of
berries and an apple daily to get our fiber.

Back to busting my tush and watch my fruit intake. I need to lose
at least 10 lbs by end of July for vacation.

The funny thing everyone tells you to eat 5 fruits daily--I don't think so.
Its more like eating 5 berries.

    Hi MOM195;

I eat a lot of fruit and veggies yesterday 10 and I was only 1331 caleries. I don't eat a lot of starches, mainly meat fruit and veggies. Right now I have bananas, cherries, peaches, plums and grapes fresh in my home. I eat a piece fruit every meal and it works for me. Learn from Spark people each day.

Stay healthy and focus on your healthy life style with eating and exercises. God bless you always.

perhaps you are NOT getting enough calories in your day? Our bodies are very weird and as women fluctuate immensely anyways.

I looked at food once and gained 4 pounds.

Just keep at it, be consistent. We will get there.

Now....go push play!!

I don't know what to say , I don't think it works the same for everybody. and berries? 93 calories is nothing. aren't they treated with something? we have berries in our garden , I never heard of gaining weight from berries if you don't add sugar. I also don't eat too many fruits , too many calories , I just cut a pear from dinner and let the cheese(it had less calories than the pear). I eat more than those 5 portions but mostly from veggies, 1 fruit/day , maximum 2(and the second usually is a kiwi).don't worry , you'll find what works for you and loose those pounds.

:)..LOL, I love your 5 berries comment. I've been noticing that I have to be very exact in writing down what I eat and the number or calories or the calories creep up! The good thing is that you're doing something about it and that's really what matters. emoticon
