Busy work weekend again, and lots of kids' activities. We also had mass yesterday, so I only was able to get a 10 min walk done. It was nice, though, to get some sun before heading to work under the fluorescent lights of the pharmacy. We don't have windows either.
Today was day 335, and I don't have to go to work. Hubby is home, so I got him out for a walk. Our town is located on a hill, so we went down the hill to start instead of taking our usual route along the top of the hill. We walked 32 minutes. I really enjoy my time with Brian. I'm working so much more now, and we don't get to spend as much time together as I like.
If you've followed my blogs in the past, you may remember my references to our crazy yurt tent that we camp in. It's basically a big dome and it's white. For years I've wanted to set it up at Halloween and place an orange light in it to make it look like a pumpkin. Hubby and the kids did just that yesterday!
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

Day 332-Ran late getting ready for work, so I only squeezed in 10 min on the elliptical. I'm glad I only did that much. Work was 10.5 straight hours of stress.
Day 333- I got an earlier start today so I went for a 1.5 mile walk with my daughter. It's chilly out there, but not windy. The sun is also peaking through the clouds, so it's a little sunny. We walked for 27 minutes. Now off to work another 10.5 hour shift. Maybe I'll get a break today during the Husker game.

I started to run out of time again to get my workout done, so I decided to go for a walk instead of doing the elliptical. If I walk, I usually don't sweat too much and wouldn't need a shower before picking up the kids from school. I was right. I didn't sweat, but it sure was cold out there! The wind is not friendly. I had my winter coat, hat, and gloves on and had to work at my walk against the wind. It took me 19 minutes for a one mile walk. Not fast, but not slow either.
The cold walk has convinced me that the twins are not going to the annual Halloween parade through our small town. The kids get dressed up and walk 4-5 blocks to the fire station and get some candy and a free hot dog. I don't see the point this year. They would have to wear winter coats over their costumes. There's not even a free movie this year. I'm kind of bummed about that one. That's usually fun, but we also have activities for just about every kid tonight: High school band is in the parade (two kids in band, another carrying the banner), one has basketball practice, two have play practice, and one has a dance to go to. Now, my ten year old has convinced us to let a friend spend the night. I can't keep it all straight. At least all of the practices and stuff are at the high school. That makes it a little easier.

Too much mom stuff to catch up and not enough time to do it! I only had time for 10 minutes on the elliptical today. It felt difficult at first, but at the end I wished I had more time. I could have done at least 30 minutes on it. Tomorrow I won't have such time constraints, so we'll see what I manage to accomplish then.

It's a cloudy, kind of foggy day here in my small town. I decided to get outside anyway for a jog. It boosts my spirits to get outside, even on cloudy days, since I've been working so many hours lately. My shins gave me trouble again, so I did a long walk in the middle of my routine to try to help. It did, and my shins felt much better on my second jogging stint. Here's my breakdown:
0.25 mile walk
0.75 mile jog
1 mile walk
0.75 mile jog
0.25 mile walk
Total jogging time: 21:03 (14 minute mile)
Total walking time: 28 minutes (18.7 minute mile)
My walking time was slower than I like, but I was dealing with trying to loosen up my shins.
Last night was parent/teacher conferences. All in all, everything went fine. We had only 2 C's out of the whole bunch. I've spoken with all the teachers and gotten good reports on all the kids. The boy with the C's is capable of improving, he just needs to do the extra work, and ask for help when needed. We've had this talk before, so it's no surprise. Mikey's music teacher is excited about the opportunity to keep working with him over the next couple of years with his voice. She said that his voice, and the voices of the two girls that he auditioned with blend well together. Sometimes great voices don't blend well. She's going to have them all work together over the next year, and perform together at the school concerts. She expects that they will "blow us away" with their performances. They will audition again for All-State next year, so this year was a great learning experience for them all.
