Day 319-Those miles add up

I really didn't feel like I'd done so much working out this week, but I have to say that the miles do add up. I only walked one mile today, but at a good pace with my daughter, Mary. I enjoy having alone time with her. We did our mile in just over 18 minutes, which is a good pace for me. This week, I've totalled 11.1 miles on foot for my workouts. Yes, the 1 or 1.5 mile walks/jogs all add up.

    I too have days where I do not get to exercise as much as I would like, however even doing one mile at a time is better than no walking at all. emoticon

Fun with numbers: 10-11-12 and my daughter turned 13

Yesterday was my older daughter's birthday and I realized that the date was 10-11-12, and she turned 13. Pretty cool!

I spent most of the day doing mom stuff. I'm trying to use my slow cookers more to make easier meals for my large family, especially with working more hours. I made baby back ribs for the first time ever, and they turned out fantastic! With Mary's birthday hitting, I now have three teenagers. I made a Costco sized portion of ribs, over eight pounds, and my carnivorous family ate every last one of them. Mary was especially happy that they were fall off the bone tender. She was able to eat them with a fork and not damage her braces. She was also excited to have two of her other favorites: corn and baked beans. I also baked some banana, oatmeal, chocolate chip muffins, another big hit. I know my kids plot against me and let bananas go over ripe on the counter so I'll bake. I also did laundry and lots of dishes, so my day was jam packed. Then in the afternoon, piano lessons, basketball practice, and play practice.

With all that mom stuff going on, I only got in 10 minutes on the elliptical. It was late in the day when I got one the elliptical, so it wore me out pretty fast. That was day 317 of my streak.

I wanted to prove to myself today (Day 318) that I still have some endurance. I did a total of 3 miles today: 0.25 mile walk, 1 mile jog, 0.5 mile walk, 1 mile jog, 0.25 mile walk. My knees felt good through the whole routine. My total walking time was about 19 minutes for one total mile of walking. My jogging miles were: 13:56, and 14:13. I'm very happy with today's workout.

Day 316-Another one mile jog

My knee is still improving. I took it easy for three weeks, mostly walking for my cardio, and that seemed to really help. I never made it to the chiro, just too busy, so I'm glad my knee started to feel better on its own.

Today I couldn't wait to get outside. It is so sunny and beautiful out! Running short on time again, I only had time for 1.5 miles total: 0.25 mile walk, 1 mile jog, 0.25 mile walk.

Total time: 24 minutes
Jogging mile: 14 minutes

Still respectable times.

Days 313, 314, & 315- I jogged a mile!

Sunday got busy with church in the morning, catechism classes after that, and then hurrying home so I could drive out to Underwood for a skating party for two of my kids. That is a really nice facility there, the UMBA hall. The kids had a blast and they enjoyed seeing their friends again. This family lives in our town, but has started sending their kids to another school, so Mary and Stevie don't often see their friends from this family. Mary made a pillow in the shape of a goldfish cracker for her friend and everyone loved it. I was good and did not roller skate. I really wanted to get out there, but hubby told me I couldn't, not with my recent knee trouble. I ended up getting a mile walk in with hubby in the evening.

Monday was a great success. I walked for 0.25 mile, then jogged one mile, then walked another 0.25 mile. My jogging mile was 14 minutes, very respectable considering I haven't really jogged for three weeks.

Tuesday (today) got busy again, so I settled for a walk in the afternoon. It was windy and almost cold, but I wore a sweatshirt and gloves to help. Stevie came with me for part of the walk, and we went down by the school which added a good hill to walk back up. I wasn't super fast today, 47.5 minutes for 2.5 miles. I hope the weather gets warmer again so I can try jogging some more. My knee is doing pretty well, even after the one mile jog yesterday. I can go up and down stairs almost like normal.

Days 310 & 311 & 312-Knee is improving

My knee is improving with taking it easy. I've also been really busy, so workouts have been shorter than I like. I'm sure that's helped my knee too.

Thursday: I had to do a lot of shopping for a slumber party we planned last minute for my 13 year old daughter. All of her invited friends came, and we only invited them on Tuesday. I limited her, so she only had six friends over. It worked out really well. I only had time for 10 minutes, and I did it on the elliptical. Once my knees warmed up, I was going at my usual pace.

Friday: We all felt kind of sick from eating so bad during the slumber party, and from lack of sleep. I walked one mile with my 13 year old daughter, 20.5 minutes. That is quite slow for me. We had a great time talking, however. We also would have walked longer, but I noticed a dog was out that I worry about.

Saturday: Everyone felt better, recovered from the slumber party. We went out to eat at one of the casinos, a buffet, to celebrate our anniversary. Monday is our 18th wedding anniversary. It was fun to celebrate with the kids. We went to the zoo after that and did the IMax, aquarium, Kingdoms of the night, and the jungle (lower level). After that, I took a walk, again with my daughter, down to the zebra (there was only one that we saw) and back up, around the outside of the betterfly house and to the front entrance. That took 12.5 minutes. We were walking at a good pace again, and my knee is feeling much better.

I'll continue to take it easy on my knee, walking and doing the elliptical this week. Hopefully, I can get some longer workouts in. I think it should be a less busy week.

Sounds like a fun weekend. Way to keep up on the exercise. I'm sure Mary had fun with the slumber party - that was lots of work!! Zoo trip sounds fun, also.
