Day 316-Another one mile jog

My knee is still improving. I took it easy for three weeks, mostly walking for my cardio, and that seemed to really help. I never made it to the chiro, just too busy, so I'm glad my knee started to feel better on its own.

Today I couldn't wait to get outside. It is so sunny and beautiful out! Running short on time again, I only had time for 1.5 miles total: 0.25 mile walk, 1 mile jog, 0.25 mile walk.

Total time: 24 minutes
Jogging mile: 14 minutes

Still respectable times.

Days 313, 314, & 315- I jogged a mile!

Sunday got busy with church in the morning, catechism classes after that, and then hurrying home so I could drive out to Underwood for a skating party for two of my kids. That is a really nice facility there, the UMBA hall. The kids had a blast and they enjoyed seeing their friends again. This family lives in our town, but has started sending their kids to another school, so Mary and Stevie don't often see their friends from this family. Mary made a pillow in the shape of a goldfish cracker for her friend and everyone loved it. I was good and did not roller skate. I really wanted to get out there, but hubby told me I couldn't, not with my recent knee trouble. I ended up getting a mile walk in with hubby in the evening.

Monday was a great success. I walked for 0.25 mile, then jogged one mile, then walked another 0.25 mile. My jogging mile was 14 minutes, very respectable considering I haven't really jogged for three weeks.

Tuesday (today) got busy again, so I settled for a walk in the afternoon. It was windy and almost cold, but I wore a sweatshirt and gloves to help. Stevie came with me for part of the walk, and we went down by the school which added a good hill to walk back up. I wasn't super fast today, 47.5 minutes for 2.5 miles. I hope the weather gets warmer again so I can try jogging some more. My knee is doing pretty well, even after the one mile jog yesterday. I can go up and down stairs almost like normal.

Days 310 & 311 & 312-Knee is improving

My knee is improving with taking it easy. I've also been really busy, so workouts have been shorter than I like. I'm sure that's helped my knee too.

Thursday: I had to do a lot of shopping for a slumber party we planned last minute for my 13 year old daughter. All of her invited friends came, and we only invited them on Tuesday. I limited her, so she only had six friends over. It worked out really well. I only had time for 10 minutes, and I did it on the elliptical. Once my knees warmed up, I was going at my usual pace.

Friday: We all felt kind of sick from eating so bad during the slumber party, and from lack of sleep. I walked one mile with my 13 year old daughter, 20.5 minutes. That is quite slow for me. We had a great time talking, however. We also would have walked longer, but I noticed a dog was out that I worry about.

Saturday: Everyone felt better, recovered from the slumber party. We went out to eat at one of the casinos, a buffet, to celebrate our anniversary. Monday is our 18th wedding anniversary. It was fun to celebrate with the kids. We went to the zoo after that and did the IMax, aquarium, Kingdoms of the night, and the jungle (lower level). After that, I took a walk, again with my daughter, down to the zebra (there was only one that we saw) and back up, around the outside of the betterfly house and to the front entrance. That took 12.5 minutes. We were walking at a good pace again, and my knee is feeling much better.

I'll continue to take it easy on my knee, walking and doing the elliptical this week. Hopefully, I can get some longer workouts in. I think it should be a less busy week.

Sounds like a fun weekend. Way to keep up on the exercise. I'm sure Mary had fun with the slumber party - that was lots of work!! Zoo trip sounds fun, also.

Days 308 & 309-Lucky to keep my streak alive!

Tuesday was a busy day. I had to be at work at 3pm, so I had the morning to get all my mom stuff done. I was getting dinner in the crockpot when hubby called and wanted to meet for lunch. That changed all my plans. I figured I'd get my walk in with him after lunch, but we ran late. Fortunately, I was able to go for a walk for my break at work, 15 minutes, and kept my streak alive.

Today I wanted to get out and enjoy this last beautiful day before the weather really gets cold. I walked for 63 minutes, 3.5 miles. My pace was 18 minutes/mile. I figure that's pretty good with my knee still giving me trouble. I plan to get to the chiropractor the next day or two. I have lots to do, so we'll see when I can make it.

Look at that walk today - YOU ROCK!! Lots better than my 13 minute walk tonight. I have a goal of walking this entire area close to my house. I'd start along 105th St & Pacific at the edge of One Pacific Place. Walk all the way down/up Pacific Street to 90th, go south to Center Street to 105th and back down to One Pacific Place. I've walked down the Papio trail and down Center to 105th and back and it was a great walk but I'm interested in how fast I could do the other.

Days 305, 306 & 307-Slow, but still moving!

My right knee has been giving me trouble for a week now. I think it was the bike ride last Saturday. I had the baby carrier behind me, pulling supplies (water & snacks) which put extra pressure on my knees as we were riding. I may have the best cardio health & endurance in my family, but I have the worst knees. Someone else is going to have to pull the supplies from now on. Most of my workouts now are walking, and at a much slower pace than I'm used to.

Sat: 15 minute walk with Hubby. It was very nice to have a chance to walk together, and we visited with some neighbors on the way who were having a garage sale.

Sun: 13 minute walk with my 12 y/o daughter. I really love the one-on-one time with any of my kids.

Today: 35 minute walk. I'm glad today I have more time in my schedule to be able to walk a longer distance. I think my distance is around 1.8 miles. I haven't logged it yet from my maps to see. That's about a 20 minute mile, slow for me, but I'm happy at this point to keep moving. I hope to try some elliptical tomorrow. The walking really isn't getting my heart rate up at this point. We'll see what my knee says. I may be limited to walking, and finding some upper body cardio workouts to do in a chair for some variety.

    Good idea about trying the seated cardio routines. I think you'll find that they will be a nice diversion. Hope the knee feels better soon, though.

    I hope your knee feels better soon. I have been out of commission due to injuries and illness this past month. Maybe a chiropractor could help you with your acute problem. Great job keeping your streak alive in spite of setbacks!
