Days 303 & 304

Friday, September 28, 2012

Yesterday I had a nice lunch with hubby in Omaha. We went to the sushi place at Aksarben Village. We had the Seattle roll (bakes salmon, asparagus, cream cheese, wrapped in rice) and shared our lunches so we each got to try two lunch entrees. It was yummy, but definitely not on my meal plan. Afterward, we walked around for a while, lots of trails and sidewalks there. That ended up being my exercise, about 1 mile in 20 minutes. It was nice and relaxing, though.

Today I got in a more vigorous walk. I went 1.9 miles in 31.5 minutes. The weather is so beautiful for walking. I love fall.

I see that sushi place everytime I go down to Aksarben Village and it looks so nice and cool but I absolutely hate sushi! Do they have any hot menu items? That area is so nice to walk around, if you can avoid Jones Bro. Cupcakes. They also have a community bike rental program where you can rent a bike for like 5 bucks an hour and ride the trails or Elmwood Park. You should try it!

Sounds good, Chris. I got a lot of one-on-one time with hubby yesterday, too. 6 hrs of car time and time with some of the in-laws - it's been ages since we've had so much time to chat, even. We even finished a walk together last night. I took Daisy for a walk after we got home (since I took Mia in the morning before leaving) but Mia was so crazy after I left that hubby ended up walking around the block with her. We met up at a neighbor's house 3 doors down where I had stopped to chat. She's a CRAZY PUPPY!

Day 302-Took it easy today

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

My knees are really feeling the workouts lately. Maybe the Zumba and basketball pushed them over the edge. I went for a walk today for my exercise. I ended up doing 1.7 miles in 31 minutes.

Thanks for all the encouragement yesterday. If I could "like" all the comments (like on Facebook) I would. You all are such great Spark Friends!

Day 301 Hard to jog

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

My body was rejecting me today, but I powered through. I decided to walk a little longer for warm up and cool down because of that. I walked down to the school and back for my warm up. That's a pretty good sized hill. Then I jogged 3 miles ( 2 x my 1.5 mile loop) and then walked an easier 0.5 miles to finish (a part of my loop). Here are my times:

warm up walk (0.6 miles, including hill): 11:53
1.5 mile jog: 22:03
1.5 mile jog: 22:38
cool down walk (0.5 mile): 9:50

These are all pretty slow times for me, but I persevered! Now, if I could just get some bionic knees...

I think the effort and perseverance are much, much more important than the times. I've heard it can take a couple of years for you body to really acclimate to running if you haven't done it before.

Glad you found the strength to push through. I find that somedays I do not think I have the energy to finish my workout and then I think of all the people who really do not have the capacity or ability to workout and it gives me the motivation to keep moving.

One quote I saw said "no matter how slow you go - you are still lapping everyone on the couch".

Days 299 & 300 WooHoo!

Monday, September 24, 2012

Sunday got off to a rocky start. Sean (7) started throwing up in the middle of the night. Hubby, Patrick (14 and Sean's roommate), and I were up cleaning him up, the bedding, and taking care of him for half the night. Patrick was such an awesome helper. Maybe with his allergies (and stuffiness) he couldn't smell it as much as me. He cleaned up everything. That meant sleeping in because we were too tired for the commute to church. It's too dangerous when both hubby and I have lost sleep. We got up later and I decided to take some of the kids into town to see my parents. Hubby stayed home with Sean and had some great bonding time with him. They played chess. I played basketball at my mom's house with the kids. We had so much fun, and my dad joined in too. I estimate I was playing about 30 minutes, and drank a ton of water.

Today was day 300 of my 10 min/day of exercise streak. I kept Sean home as a precaution. Because of that, I decided to try Zumba again (XBox Kinect). I forgot how fun Zumba was, and how difficult. I did the two "easy" 20 minute routines, although there's not much easy about them. I really enjoyed it and am really sweaty now. Sean did some with me, so he's feeling much better. I really hope I get the newer game Zumba Rush for Christmas. I'm going to have to start dropping some hints soon.

WooHoo! 300 days of 10 minutes of exercise per day!

Way to break out the Zumba again! It's a nice way to add some fun to your routine. And BASKETBALL!! Multitalented, too! LOL

Day 298-Bike ride with part of the family

Saturday, September 22, 2012

We decided to leave the twins home with our two oldest today while we went bike riding. The twins are learning on two wheels, and the training wheel bikes just don't cut it on a real bike ride. Our two oldest were up late last night because of the homecoming dance. The game was depressing. Those poor players! We got stomped.

We went to Zorinsky Lake in Omaha this time and it was beautiful! The day is perfect and the trail is wonderful. There are hills, so it's challenging. I must be in pretty good shape. I'm still up and going right now, hubby's collapsed on the couch. I felt my quads a lot on the trail, and my bike had the baby carrier behind it for supplies. We went the entire distance which is 7.4 miles. I estimate we were riding about 90 minutes. On our ride we saw a crane of some sort, swan, goose, and a deer. It's much more peaceful than the trail up in Sioux City. That one runs along the interstate for a while and is very loud. I think this is our new favorite trail.

Our local trail also runs along the interstate for a while, which is a little nervewracking so once in a while we go about an hour north of here and ride around a lake. It is only about five miles and it is an absolutely beautiful ride. Have a great week!
