Days 308 & 309-Lucky to keep my streak alive!

Tuesday was a busy day. I had to be at work at 3pm, so I had the morning to get all my mom stuff done. I was getting dinner in the crockpot when hubby called and wanted to meet for lunch. That changed all my plans. I figured I'd get my walk in with him after lunch, but we ran late. Fortunately, I was able to go for a walk for my break at work, 15 minutes, and kept my streak alive.

Today I wanted to get out and enjoy this last beautiful day before the weather really gets cold. I walked for 63 minutes, 3.5 miles. My pace was 18 minutes/mile. I figure that's pretty good with my knee still giving me trouble. I plan to get to the chiropractor the next day or two. I have lots to do, so we'll see when I can make it.

Look at that walk today - YOU ROCK!! Lots better than my 13 minute walk tonight. I have a goal of walking this entire area close to my house. I'd start along 105th St & Pacific at the edge of One Pacific Place. Walk all the way down/up Pacific Street to 90th, go south to Center Street to 105th and back down to One Pacific Place. I've walked down the Papio trail and down Center to 105th and back and it was a great walk but I'm interested in how fast I could do the other.

Days 305, 306 & 307-Slow, but still moving!

My right knee has been giving me trouble for a week now. I think it was the bike ride last Saturday. I had the baby carrier behind me, pulling supplies (water & snacks) which put extra pressure on my knees as we were riding. I may have the best cardio health & endurance in my family, but I have the worst knees. Someone else is going to have to pull the supplies from now on. Most of my workouts now are walking, and at a much slower pace than I'm used to.

Sat: 15 minute walk with Hubby. It was very nice to have a chance to walk together, and we visited with some neighbors on the way who were having a garage sale.

Sun: 13 minute walk with my 12 y/o daughter. I really love the one-on-one time with any of my kids.

Today: 35 minute walk. I'm glad today I have more time in my schedule to be able to walk a longer distance. I think my distance is around 1.8 miles. I haven't logged it yet from my maps to see. That's about a 20 minute mile, slow for me, but I'm happy at this point to keep moving. I hope to try some elliptical tomorrow. The walking really isn't getting my heart rate up at this point. We'll see what my knee says. I may be limited to walking, and finding some upper body cardio workouts to do in a chair for some variety.

    Good idea about trying the seated cardio routines. I think you'll find that they will be a nice diversion. Hope the knee feels better soon, though.

    I hope your knee feels better soon. I have been out of commission due to injuries and illness this past month. Maybe a chiropractor could help you with your acute problem. Great job keeping your streak alive in spite of setbacks!

Days 303 & 304

Yesterday I had a nice lunch with hubby in Omaha. We went to the sushi place at Aksarben Village. We had the Seattle roll (bakes salmon, asparagus, cream cheese, wrapped in rice) and shared our lunches so we each got to try two lunch entrees. It was yummy, but definitely not on my meal plan. Afterward, we walked around for a while, lots of trails and sidewalks there. That ended up being my exercise, about 1 mile in 20 minutes. It was nice and relaxing, though.

Today I got in a more vigorous walk. I went 1.9 miles in 31.5 minutes. The weather is so beautiful for walking. I love fall.

    I see that sushi place everytime I go down to Aksarben Village and it looks so nice and cool but I absolutely hate sushi! Do they have any hot menu items? That area is so nice to walk around, if you can avoid Jones Bro. Cupcakes. They also have a community bike rental program where you can rent a bike for like 5 bucks an hour and ride the trails or Elmwood Park. You should try it!

    Sounds good, Chris. I got a lot of one-on-one time with hubby yesterday, too. 6 hrs of car time and time with some of the in-laws - it's been ages since we've had so much time to chat, even. We even finished a walk together last night. I took Daisy for a walk after we got home (since I took Mia in the morning before leaving) but Mia was so crazy after I left that hubby ended up walking around the block with her. We met up at a neighbor's house 3 doors down where I had stopped to chat. She's a CRAZY PUPPY!

Day 302-Took it easy today

My knees are really feeling the workouts lately. Maybe the Zumba and basketball pushed them over the edge. I went for a walk today for my exercise. I ended up doing 1.7 miles in 31 minutes.

Thanks for all the encouragement yesterday. If I could "like" all the comments (like on Facebook) I would. You all are such great Spark Friends!

Day 301 Hard to jog

My body was rejecting me today, but I powered through. I decided to walk a little longer for warm up and cool down because of that. I walked down to the school and back for my warm up. That's a pretty good sized hill. Then I jogged 3 miles ( 2 x my 1.5 mile loop) and then walked an easier 0.5 miles to finish (a part of my loop). Here are my times:

warm up walk (0.6 miles, including hill): 11:53
1.5 mile jog: 22:03
1.5 mile jog: 22:38
cool down walk (0.5 mile): 9:50

These are all pretty slow times for me, but I persevered! Now, if I could just get some bionic knees...

    I think the effort and perseverance are much, much more important than the times. I've heard it can take a couple of years for you body to really acclimate to running if you haven't done it before.

    Glad you found the strength to push through. I find that somedays I do not think I have the energy to finish my workout and then I think of all the people who really do not have the capacity or ability to workout and it gives me the motivation to keep moving.

One quote I saw said "no matter how slow you go - you are still lapping everyone on the couch".
