Day 292-Another quick walk

Sunday is church day, so I don't have much time for a workout. I squeezed in a ten minute walk this morning before mass. Then we were off to church, then over to hubby's sister's house for lunch. All four of her kids recently had birthdays. It's always fun to get together with them. Her kids are all the same ages as my six. They always have so much fun. I quickly ate lunch down there, and then off to work.

As far as work weekends go, this hasn't been too bad. Friday was horrible, but Saturday and Sunday have been much more manageable. I'm looking forward to this week. I only have one shift. I can be mom for a while, and hopefully get some good workouts in too.

Day 291-Quick walk

I have had some real trouble sleeping lately, and work sure has not helped. Yesterday was an awful day at work. We were six technicians short in the afternoon, when I go in. The three we had were running their tails off, and we pharmacists tried our best to help them. We soon got behind on orders and the phone would not stop ringing. I worked ten and a half hours straight, ate at my computer, and only got out to the restroom twice. YIKES! No wonder I couldn't settle down. Tonight is going much better, though, and I'm hopeful to get some sleep tonight to catch up.

Before work today, my family made a nice breakfast for me. Hubby made the eggs, Mikey (16) the bacon, Mary (12) the coffee, and the rest of the kids helped in the kitchen and dining room. Sean (7, one of the twins) was a "hug zombie" this morning, which was hilarious. Bridget, his twin, was also cuddly, and I needed the hugs. After breakfast, I got outside for a quick ten minute walk. It was gorgeous outside, and I wish I could have spent the entire day out there instead of under the flourescent lights. Oh well, I do this for my family so we can pay our bills. Maybe next weekend will be nice outside too.

Day 290

I enjoyed getting outside for a little bit today. I walked 0.25 mile, jogged 1 mile, and walked another 0.25mile. My total time was 24 minutes. I'm feeling really down today. I've had a lot of trouble sleeping over the last week or so, maybe longer. I think many factors are playing into my sleep problems, so it's hard to correct. I'm trying to make adjustments. Still, I'm happy that I've kept my streak going during all of this.

I'll be working all weekend. Hopefully it won't be as nuts as it was on Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm not sure we're fully staffed tonight. We'll see when I get there.

Days 288 & 289

I did a quick ten minute walk yesterday before work. Lots of running around in the morning. My twelve year old daughter has bronchitis. We did a doctor's appointment then I ran around getting meds and supplies for her and for our nebulizer.

Today I did ten minutes of weights and crunches. I'm very happy that I finally got some resistance training in, even though it was quick.

Days 285, 286 & 287

Monday, September 10, 2012

Saturday was a beautiful day! My daughter, Mary (12), tried to jog with me. I welcome the company, but I know we go at different paces. I told her to jog ahead if she needed too. I repeat my 1.5 mile route to add more miles, so we never would be too far off from each other. Mary may be faster than me, but she lacks the endurance I have. She would jog, then walk, and do that for a while. The last quarter mile of her mile was walking. I walked a quarter mile to warm up, then jogged three miles, then walked a quarter mile to cool down. My total time was 48:30 and each individual mile was pretty good: 12:43, 13:03, 13:30. That's a pretty fast three miles for me.

After that our little town had a Family Fun Day in the park. The chamber sponsors it, so it's free. There were two bouncy houses, one bouncy obstacle course, one big blow up slide, a blow up basketball game, free pony rides, train ride (the kind pulled by a tractor), mini golf, and kareoke. Hot dogs were $1 and came with a pop. The weather was beautiful! All the kids had fun, even my 16 year old. He loves kareoke. He's got a great voice. In the evening, hubby and I went on a date and had some Thai food at Mai Thai Bar. I splurged and also had a Mai Thai. Yum!

Sunday was a resting day. I haven't been sleeping well lately. I took it easy for my workout and only did a 10 minute, half mile walk with my daughters. It was another good day, though. We went to mass in the morning and the kids had religious ed afterward. Then we ran a few errands in Omaha before coming home. Bridget (7) had a birthday party to go to, third week in a row for her to get an invite to something. In the evening we decided to have some pizza in Omaha at Sortino's with the kids' cousins. That was fun!

Today I really enjoyed my jog. The weather is fantastic! It's a little windy, but that kept me from sweating too much. I went slower today than Saturday, but I went longer, 4.5 miles total, 4 of it jogging. I walked a quarter mile, then jogged four, then walked another quarter. My mile times were: 13:19, 13:43, 13:56, 13:53. These are good times for going the longer distance.

So my week has gotten off to a great start!
