Days 271, 272, 273

My blog from yesterday disappeared, so I have three days of exercise to talk about.

Day 271 (Sunday)- We went to the zoo for the first time this year. I estimated a total of two miles walked at a pretty slow pace since I had hubby and the kids with me. We had a very fun time and I loved the changes to the aquarium. We also took in a 3D Imax movie.

Day 272 (Monday)- This was my roughest day with TOM so I had to take it easy. I walked 1.6 miles in 34 minutes. That included walking to and from the school to pick up the kids.

Day 273 (Today) - I got my first jog in with my new running shoes. I ended up getting Asics Nimbus, very cushy, very cute, and also on sale. I jogged two miles straight with a 0.25 mile walk both before and after. My total time was 38 minutes, my mile times were: 14:00 and 14:30. I can tell I still feel a bit drained from TOM, but much better than yesterday.

It looks like I'll have to keep getting out early for my workouts this week. What a hot week we have coming here in Western Iowa! Stay cool and careful everyone.

Day 270 Weekly totals

I love my elliptical on rainy days! I was able to get 30 minutes in on the elliptical today. I'll call it 2.2 miles. That's between a 13 and a 14 minute mile, my usual jogging times. My elliptical measures miles pretty generously. It said I went 7.5 miles. I haven't been able to match that up with kilometers, bicycling, or any type of real measurement. I also stretched for ten minutes afterward.

Here are my weekly totals:

5.4 miles walked
11 miles jogged
2.2 miles on the elliptical
18.6 total miles on foot
336 minutes working out (5.6 hours)
6 stretching sessions after cardio

I've eaten pretty well this week. I still like having treats too much, but I've noticed I don't totally binge when I have a treat now. I still would like to stay on track for a few weeks before having some kind of small treat. When I start eating sweets, I have a hard time stopping.

All in all, I'm very happy with my progress this last week.

Day 269

Friday, August 24, 2012

I jogged two miles straight today, and tried to go a little faster to compensate for less time exercising. Here's my breakdown:

0.25 mile walked
2 miles jogged (13:35, 13:16)
0.25 mile walked

Walking time was 9 minutes total, total workout time was about 36 minutes. I also stretched for six minutes afterward.

Day 268 Three straight miles jogged today!

Wow! It feels good to post that again. I jogged three straight miles today. I kept telling myself, "Just go slow and you can do it." I've also added more walking time at the end. I think that helps my recovery. I'm not so stiff. Here's my breakdown:

0.25 mile walk
3 mile jog
0.75 mile walk

Jogging time: 3 miles in 43 minutes
Walking time: 1 mile in 18 minutes

I try also to pump my arms when I'm walking. I wanted to lift a few weights today, just biceps and triceps, but our adjustable dumb bells are stuck. I did stretch before and after. I'm also happy since I got out early today. I was up late working last night and wanted to go back to bed after the kids were off to school. I stayed up, had a cup of coffee and got moving. I always feel better about myself when I do that.

Day 267-Thanks for all the comments yesterday

I appreciate all the comments yesterday on my shoe question. I have gone to a running shoes. It was when I got the asics that are now wearing out. I've been thinking of trying on the kayano style to see how it compares to the cumulus style. I think I'll stick with asics for running, and maybe trying Keen for walking. Canfield's in Omaha has a lot of Keen shoes to try on.

Today I jogged for 1.5 miles in 20 minutes, and walked 0.7 mile in 13 minutes. I got out around noon, so it was already hot out there. My muscles and joints love the heat, my head, not so much. Drinking lots of water as I blog right now, actually my home made sports drink. I also stretched afterward for seven minutes.

My eating is totally back on track now. I slowly reintroduced the veggies into my diet after my GI attack a few weeks ago. Yesterday I made my "green sludge" that I drink every morning (spinach, V8, lemon juice, celery, cucumber, avocado blended up). I also have had some salads and fruits pretty regularly.

Feels good to be back on track.
