Day 264-Kind of a break day

What a beautiful morning! I decided to quickly get my workout in before mass this morning, and work after that. I did a 12 minute walk today. I wanted to give my body a rest from the jogging I've done the last three days. I went about 0.7 miles. It is chilly out there, and the fog is rolling in. A very nice break from all the heat we've had this summer.

    I almost wish that I had taken my jacket with me this morning. It was chilly on the way to church, but gorgeous when I left the church! Have a great Sunday!

Day 263

Saturday, August 18, 2012

I did one mile today, walked the first 1/8 and then jogged the rest. I did this in 13.5 minutes so I'm maintaining a pretty steady pace with my jogs. Working this weekend so not much time for long workouts. I'm looking forward to next week when I'll have more time for longer walk/jogs.

Day 262- Muscles a little sore, but I jogged again

Today I was running short on time, and I had a longer workout yesterday, so I only did 1.5 miles. Here's the walking/jogging breakdown:

1/4 mile walk
1 mile jog
1.4 mile walk

My jogging mile was 13 minutes (12:55) and my walking 1/2 mile was about 9 minutes (8:42).

My muscles are sore today, the good kind of sore like I'm challenging my body again. I hope that I can get back on the message boards more frequently as we get back into the school routine. Have a great weekend!

Day 261-Jogging again!

It's been two weeks since my "gall bladder" (or whatever it was) attack and my trip to the hospital. It was the first day of school and I spent all day starting to get caught up around the house. What a disaster area! I made a small dent in the mess, but I feel ok with my progress. It felt good getting up early and getting a lot done. I have to say, though, I fell into the "one job leading to another, leading to another..." thing. I finally focused enough to get a few things completed.

After school Patrick (14) wanted to jog with me. I had planned to start jogging today, but hadn't made it outside yet with my obsessive mom "gotta get things done" mindset. We had a great time today, and the weather is perfect. Here's what we accomplished:

1/4 mile walk
1 mile jog
1/2 mile walk
1/2 mile jog
3/4 mile walk

Total walking time was about 27 minutes or 18 minutes per mile, very respectable.
Total jogging time was about 20 minutes or 13.3 minutes per mile, again very respectable. I'm happy with the whole experience. I feel good, my times were good, and I feel like I'm starting to get back on track.

A very good day 261 of at least 10 minutes of exercise per day.

    That's great Chris! I'm so glad you were able to get outside and jog again. You will be back to your normal routine in no time. I often do the "one job leads to another..leads to another" thing around here. Sigh.

Day 260-Last day of summer for the kids

Well, tomorrow is finally the first day of school. I feel like we've been preparing for weeks now. We've done way too much shopping, and I haven't found a single thing for myself. I don't know if I'm too picky but I can't find any clothes for myself. With the kids starting school, I may have to take a day for shopping next week to really look. The kids seem excited about the first day and we all really need the routine.

My best friend called me up today and invited me on a hike. We went out to Hitchcock nature center north of Crescent Iowa. I really enjoyed the quiet, the hike, and the visiting. What a great stress relief!! We hiked for 50 minutes and went 2.2 miles. Some of the hills really worked me, although, I'm anxious to start jogging again. I figure I'll start that back up tomorrow. I plan to jog one mile, and walk a lot to bump up my cardio time.

    What a great way to relieve the stress of getting ready for school to start! I haven't been hiking in a long time. I used to have weak ankles so I avoided hiking, but now that I have strengthened my ankles by working on balance a hike sounds really fun. Enjoy your jog tomorrow! I hope all your kids have a great first day or school!
