Today I did 4.5 miles of walking/jogging: 0.25 mile walk, 4 mile jog, 0.25 mile walk. My
jogging mile times were : 14:04, 14:29, 14:33, 14:08.
I think that's pretty consistent. I still felt good out there, slow enough to keep going and not overheat, fast enough that I feel good about my times. I also stretched afterward since I got an earlier start today.
I have a question for everyone. Does anyone else out there try to look good when other people pass by when you are working out? I find that whenever a car passes by, or another walker or jogger, that I suck in my belly, firm everything up, and tell myself, "Okay, look like you know what you are doing. Don't look like you're dying out here." I pick up my feet more, and my speed. I just think it's funny that I do that. I live in a small town, so I probably know most of the people passing by me while I jog. I would love to hear from everyone what you think.

Today I walked/jogged: 0.25 mile walk, 3 mile jog, 0.25 mile walk. My jogging miles were: 13:42, 13:50, 12:50. That's a little faster than yesterday when all were over 14 minutes. It felt good today. I didn't feel like I had to tell myself to slow down. I also got a chance to stretch after jogging. I could tell I haven't had a good stretching session for a while.
I had to go to work yesterday, so another trip into Omaha. Today we had to return the Toyota Sequoia we rented while our Odyssey was getting fixed. Yes, another trip to town. I'm happy to be home doing laundry today. I'm tired of running around.
Swim team is going well for the kids. Bridget (6) does very well with the drills. She's still afraid when she starts to swim. I don't expect her to compete at this point, just learn a lot. Stevie (10) is my super athlete. It's great to see him in the water again. He is so fun to watch. He can do all four strokes and is one of the fastest in his age group in all four strokes. I have a feeling he'll be doing some individual medleys this year. His specialty last year was the long freestyle. For his age group that's a 50. I haven't had a chance yet to see the older three swim. A friend has been taking them down in the evenings. That's made it easier on me since I seem to always be gone. I look forward to the first swim meet next week, although I volunteered to be a timer for that one. It's still fun. I really enjoy swim team for the family.

I was able to get my workout in earlier today, before 11am. I prefer that schedule. I did another walk/jog: 0.25 mile walk, 3 mile straight jog, 0.25 mile walk. My jogging miles were: 13:59, 14:31, 14:45. I went slower since I knew I wanted to do three miles straight, and it was pretty warm out there. My muscles seem to prefer the warmer weather. The rest of me gets a little hot and sweaty.
A spark friend asked if exercising every day has other benefits than losing weight. I would say for me the answer is "Yes!" The weight comes off very slowly for me, mostly due to my hypothyroid condition. I would imagine all the stress in my life also makes it harder to lose the weight. Donuts and M & M's don't help either. I feel better all over when I work out. I have incredible endurance compared to the rest of my family. I'm kind of like the Energizer bunny. I keep going and going through all my running around and chores. I don't think I could keep up my busy schedule if I didn't take time every day to do at least 10 minutes of exercise, something, anything. When I work a lot, I tend to do more walking. I did a lot of walking last week due to my work schedule and TOM. At least I did something! This week, I'm starting to pile on the miles of jogging again. That makes a huge impact on my body and on my mental state. It really boosts me emotionally when I start to feel what I'm accomplishing through jogging. I look back at my streak now, and I've done over six months of 10 min/day of exercise. Again, that boosts my spirits. What an accomplishment!

I did way too much running around today. I made two trips to Omaha, two trips to Costco, and more running around our little town. I know I have more trips to Omaha to make this week. Yikes! I'm also trying to keep track of whose kids I'm driving where and when. We have basketball camp for our fifth grader in addition to five kids in swim team (three different practice times) and driver's ed. Two other families have the same type of schedules so we are all helping each other out. I just pray I don't leave any kids behind somewhere in the process. I guess that's would not be a huge catastrophe, just a minor one since we live in a small town.
I finally got my exercise in tonight. I walked/jogged a total of 2.5 miles: 0.25 mile walk, 2 mile jog, 0.25 mile walk for cool down. It felt good. There was a lot of shade by the time I got out. I think that helped a lot.

Whew! Is it hot out there! I decided to keep it short since it really warmed up today. I walked/jogged 1.5 miles total: 0.25 mile walk, 1 mile jog, 0.25 mile walk. My total time was 23 minutes, my mile time was 14 minutes.
On our way home from church today we went up to Hitchcock nature center just outside Crescent. That is a really neat park with a beautiful view. If you like hiking, I highly recommend it. We were just there to check out the visitor center and climb up the lookout tower. I guess you could add that to my exercise, although I went very slowly. I had church clothes on, and I'm petrified of heights. I still made it to the top without having a heart attack. I didn't even freak out about the kids being up there. Ok, I was freaking out on the inside, but I controlled myself to help the kids be brave.
