I've only got a few quick minutes to spark today, so I'm blogging before I exercise. I plan to do 10 minutes on the elliptical. That's all I have time for.
Lots of food prep today, but the kids are helping me. I have to make my meals for work, lunch, dinner, snacks. Yes, I have a huge lunch box. Mikey, my oldest, has done my Friday meals so frequently, he knows what to do. I had to make scrambled eggs this morning, my standard protein breakfast. Now I'm off to make my "green sludge." I really need it to help my GI system stay comfortable. For those of you who may not have heard of my green sludge, I Vitamix spinach, celery, cucumber, avocado, V-8, and lemon juice into a green smoothy. Some people cringe at the thought of this, but really, it only tastes like veggies. I've gotten used to it over the years and I feel much better when I drink some every day. I make a huge amount and keep it in the fridge.

I got my workout in during the 5 pm hour, but I got it done. I did 10 min on the elliptical, then weights and crunches.
I spent the earlier part of the day shopping with my oldest daughter. She decided she needs some real bras, not just sports bras. I agreed. I also wanted to try one last time through the Lands End section of Sears to see if I could find a swimsuit that worked for me. Many of their tankini tops are too low cut for my taste. I don't want to feel like I'm hanging out all over the place. I must have tried every suit there. I feel sorry for the poor salesman who had to put them all back. I finally found one that worked great! It's a sport tankini top with double straps that cross in the back. Last year's version was too low cut, but this year's looks great. I'll order a couple of different bottoms, one supplex shorts and one supplex skort and return what doesn't work. If those both don't work, then I know the Beach Living swim mini works with the top (I tried that on too), but they aren't the exact same blue, just very close. I got out my swim shirt I ordered last year, and it's the exact same color as the blue in the top. Perseverance paid off!

Half of my kids didn't realize that I have to work later this afternoon, so they were all puzzled at my hurrying to get them down to the track. They wanted to have a watergun fight, it being the first day of summer break. They all agreed to go down to the track. We brought soccer balls, and some of them wanted to jog with me a little. When we got down there, there was a giant sprinkler watering the football field. Jackpot!! I got to jog, the kids got to run in the sprinkler. Of course, we weren't prepared. They were all in regular clothes and shoes, but I didn't care. There was no fighting at all, just the twins fussing a little at the end. They had a blast!
Patrick (14, my second oldest, my asthmatic) decided to jog with me. He lasted through the first jogging mile and came back and jogged most of the second mile. Pretty good for his first long jog. I told him that all together with the walking lap, he did accomplish two miles. He also seemed to be pushing me a little faster than I normally go. Here are my times: 0.25 mile walk (4:16), 1 mile jog (12:12), 1 mile jog (12:26), 0.25 mile walk ( 5:16). So both my miles were under 12.5 minutes. I did sprint the last quarter mile to jack up that time a bit. It was fun sprinting with Pat. I think I surprised him. The wind was a factor today: half the lap easy, half the lap extremely hard.
A spark friend pointed out that I am close to half a year of this 10 min of exercise per day streak. Hubby realized that a week ago and said we will do something to celebrate when I reach that point: 183 days (leap year). Thank you to everyone who has commented on my page and my blogs. It really helps to keep me motivated. My kids and hubby also have been very supportive of this streak. They understand that every day, mom exercises.

Busy, busy last day of school, at least for me. I headed down to the elementary school first for awards ceremonies. I came home for a little bit, squeezed in my exercise, then off to the middle school awards. Now I'm home again for a bit until racing off to work for an extra shift.
My workout today was: 10 min elliptical, then weights and non-crunch abs. I haven't had time to stretch yet, but I hope I fit it in sometime today. My kids sound like they want to be active this summer. We will have five in swim team, one of the twins won't put his face in the water yet, so we'll wait a year for him. My oldest wants to lift weights with the football players. My second oldest is telling me he want to jog with me so he can do cross country in the fall. My oldest daughter also wants to jog with me to get in better shape. I'll have to take them to the track to jog. They are faster than me, although, I've got them beat on stamina. The other kids like to play on the field while I'm jogging, especially on the long jump track and sand. Hopefully I can keep them all busy instead of on video games all summer.

I decided to swim today since my calves are a little tight. I went for thirty minutes, including 1000 total back strokes.
Family TV time right now, so I'm going to go.
