Day 163-Slow jog

I got called into work today, so my afternoon is getting cut short. It's probably a good thing. My body is tired, my legs feel heavy. I did a slow 2 mile jog today. My times per mile: 13:34, 14:56 for 28.5 minutes of jogging. The sun felt good, and the wind was less than the last two days.

The high school concert last night was fabulous. Mikey really did a fantastic job on his vocal solo of the song, "The Thief." We got compliments all evening from other parents. I'm so proud of him.

The twins' soccer game was cold and windy. The other team had some aggressive players, not in a bad way, although Sean said they were pushing. The other coach tried to help us out by putting less players out there. I think it reached a point where our kids just gave up. It wasn't fun for them any more. I hope the next game goes better. At least they enjoyed their snacks afterward.

Well, I'd better go, or I'll be late for work.

    Great job on everything. I'd love to get out jogging again but am putting it off for a little bit longer until I get some shoes with a little more cushioning in the ball of my foot. Walking and my gazelle are working for now.

I'm sure Mikey's solo was fun to listen to and watch. I wish my kids enjoyed singing because it's so much fun to watch kids excel at that and see the self-confidence it gives them.

Work was a bear last night - I had glitches with my computer all night and CPOI finally went down about 6am - I was too busy to notice for about 20 minutes so we probably lost a lot of faxes. I was glad to escape at 7:30!! See you this weekend at work.

  Congrats on Mikey's solo! I have a singer too, and I know how awesome it is to hear them be brilliant! (I have no idea where she gets it, but I just try to smile and say thank you! I also have soccer twins and totally get that feeling. We have definitely been there and done that. Unfortunately, it's a part of the game. My girls leave a game like that and say, "well at least we played with some class!"It's all you can do sometimes. Congrats on all of your kids, and happy Mother's Day coming up!

Day 162-More jogging

I was hoping it would be a little more sunny out there. The clouds decided to come out while I was jogging, and the wind is nuts. I broke up my workout into intervals today: one mile jog, one round of weights (tricep pulldown, front lat, tricep curl, glutes), one round of non-crunch abs (dumbell side bends, cross body dumbell punches, lying leg lifts). I did this three times, then followed with ten minutes of stretching. My jogging times were (each mile): 12:24, 13:10, 12:57. I really tried to push my miles today.

Last night's track meet was fun. Patrick ran the 100 m sprint. He did well, and I think he's improving. I'm glad he's trying, especially since he has asthma. Track is really a big social event too for the kids.

Tonight we have the twins' soccer game. Those games are so cute! The side lines are merely "guidelines." They are just trying to learn some basics and have fun. Their team has another set of twins (boy/girl too) so half the team consists of twins. After the game we have the high school music concert, band and choir. I hope Mikey gets to sing the song he did for state. He got a #1 rating as a freshman. The only other kid from our town to get a #1 is a senior. Next year, he's singing an Italian song to increase the difficulty. I can't wait!

    Congratulations. People like you make me have more motivation because I'm only 21 years old and can't push myself to jog a mile. I can walk/jog. I can't jog for more than 3 minutes MOST at a time though and thats seriously pushing it. I am so out of shape.

Day 161-Finally cool enough for a jog

After getting sick 1 1/2 weeks ago, then the super hot May weather, it feels like forever since I've jogged. I was getting some good distances too. Today I planned on jogging 3 miles, but I got in my stride. I hate to stop when I'm there, so I just kept going. I ended up doing 4.5 miles. I know my body will hate me in the morning, but I'm really proud of myself right now. I was jogging for 62.5 minutes, and it is beautiful outside! I love temps in the 60s-low 70s. There's very little humidity too. That's what kills me more than the temps.

We've got another busy week ahead, but I don't think as bad as the last couple of weeks. I cancelled piano lessons tonight so we could go to Pat's track meet here in town. It's the middle school track meet and the high school track team helps set it up, so Mikey will be down there too. We planned ahead, so there's lots of leftovers in the fridge. I've got fresh fruits and veggies, so I'm ready to eat good all week. I ate poorly Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I blame PMS and TOM. I'm much more motivated now and really enjoyed my salad last night. We got some Feta cheese, and that really made it tasty.

Get outside and enjoy this fantastic spring weather!

    I'm glad you were able to get in a really good job. I saw on a runner's quiz on Spark that 55 is the optimum temperature for runnning outdoors. I can't stand humidity either.

It is amazing what the right ingredients do for a salad. I love McDonald's southwest grilled chicken salad and I was trying to figure out what was so different about it compared to the one I fix at home and it is that bean/corn/salsa type mixture they put on it. Yum!

Day 160-Fun Family night last night

After soccer, napping, and a quick workout, we did decide to go out last evening. We took the whole family to see "The Avengers." We even got popcorn and drinks for the full movie experience. What a fun evening! All the kids enjoyed the movie, although there were a few parts that may have been a little scary for the twins. Overall, just regular super hero stuff. No one had night mares, so I may be over protective here. There was humor mixed in the action scenes too, and those are the parts the kids remember most. We all enjoyed it!

Afterward we went to Culvers for dinner and dessert. We will never go there again for a meal. I felt like the old Wendy's commercials, "Where's the beef?" The hamburgers were pathetic! The ice cream, on the other hand, was delicious. Still a fun evening with the family.

Today for my workout, Stevie wanted to do Zumba with me. He's ten. We did a 20 minute intermediate routine. He's fun, but he doesn't know how to dance, so it was very funny! We had some good laughs.

    My children have always loved to workout with me. I finally stopped coaching them on form because I have noticed that as they get older they naturally learn to watch and listen to the instructor on the DVD more and more. My 12-year-old regularly gets in a good workout with me, but yesterday my 4-year-old was doing romanian dead lifts with a 5 pound kettlebell and she was so adorable! :-)

Day 159

Saturday, May 05, 2012

We had soccer games this morning, 30 minutes away from town. It was hot out there! Stevie (10) got asked to fill in for a second team, so he played two whole games. He did have an hour rest in between. Mary looked so hot out there. Her game started at 11:30. We rested a bit after we got home. Hubby's still resting.

I went downstairs to avoid the heat and I did 20 min of Zumba on the Xbox. Now, for some family time. I don't know what we are going to do, but I look forward to some fun together.
