Day 132-Happy Easter

I had a very nice Easter Sunday today. It would have been perfect, if my whole family could have been there. Mary (12) woke up with a horrible sore throat and Hubby stayed home with her today. The rest of us went off to 8am Mass. After that was the Easter egg hunt at church. The kids always love that, and my older boys helped the younger kids. It was cool this morning, though. I wore sandals and my feet were freezing!

After that we headed to Hubby's sister's (Cathy) house. They have four kids that are all my kids' ages. It's great that they are all best friends. There was a big crowd there. Cathy's husband, Paul, had all his brothers and their families there too. I had a good visit with everyone. The weather was fantastic! Sunny and 70 once it warmed up. We had another egg hunt there for the smaller kids. We also sang "Happy Birthday" to my son Patrick. He turned 14 on Thursday. I was disappointed with the Angel Food cakes I bought at Sam's. We joked that they were more like Angel Pound cakes, way too dense for Angel Food cakes. Oh well, they still got eaten.

I got home and went for a two mile walk with hubby. Yes, you heard that right, hubby went two miles. We did it in 40 minutes. That's a little slower than I usually go, but it is such a beautiful evening and I really enjoyed the time with Brian.

    What a great way to start your week. Our family decided to take a 10 mile family bike ride and I thought it was a perfect way to spend Easter. We had a great time just hanging out together doing something fun. Have a great week!

    Sounds like you had a happy Easter. I hope Mary is feeling better. Ed went with me on a walk last night, also. It, also, was slower than I normally walk, even with Daisy along, but the important note was that Ed walked too. See you this weekend. Have a good week.

Two mile walk with a good friend visiting from Minnesota. We did it in 35 minutes. Boy is it windy out there.

Day 130

Last evening I got a doozy of a migraine! Ouch!! Coincided with worst day of TOM as well. I definitely need to take some iron now. I still managed to get up this morning, a little late, but we made it in to church today. The bulletin said that service started at 12 noon, but they started the Stations of the Cross before that. I wish they had posted that time as well.

I walked today for 34 minutes, 2 miles. You'll have to forgive me if I'm incoherent, I still have some brain fog left from the migraine.

I thought I'd list the thyroid/adrenal meds I'm taking right now since I'm getting some inquiries:

Cytomel (T3 only med) 17.5 mcg three times a day (7am, 12noon, 5pm) and 5 mcg at bedtime. I expect to increase this med in the near future.
Hydrocortisone (Cortisol) 7.5 mg 7am, 5mg 12 noon, 5mg 5pm, and 2.5mg at bedtime.
Iodoral-12.5mg at 7am daily (Iodine supplement)
B100 (B complex once daily)
Vitamin C 1000mg twice a day

Those are the important ones. I also take other vitamins, but don't want to list everything.

Day 129-Slowing down a bit

I have to remind myself to slow down sometimes, but luckily today I remembered. TOM hit, and that's one of the times I have to remember to take it easy. My workout today, a two mile walk in 35 minutes. So, my streak continues, and I'm not suffering for it. Other times I have to remember to slow down: the Mondays after I work, when I have headache issues. Except for Monday, I've taken it easy this week, but kept my streak going.

Last night was stressful, shopping with the kids. I forgot that my asthmatic is on prednisone, and that alters his personality. He had a meltdown. I think I handled it well. It's so hard trying to get everything we need in one trip. I wish I could make the kids understand better.

How many other moms out there use the speech, "Do you think this is fun for me!?!" while shopping with the kids? Just curious. I know I pull it out every time as I obsess about getting everything taken care of.

    I think it's even funnier when you hear those kids, a little older, use the SAME EXACT LINE back at their parents.

    Good job, Chris. I haven't been shopping with kids in awhile but I do remember how stressful it can be. My boys were always CRAZY nuts to shop with (but I swear they were maniacs, anyway!) You do a great job of listening to your body and journaling so I know that you will adjust as needed. I've been working on clearing out the area where Sarah's bedroom will be so I'm doing a little less on the exercise/SP stuff for now but my streak continues, also.

I go shopping with my kids every week.
What about shopping with your kids get's on your nervous?
I'm trying to follow the prednisone.
Are you taking some thing?
Having your TOM is the hard one and to do shopping also woohoo.

Day 128-Lowering caffeine

Well, I've decided to lower my caffeine intake. I'm down to two half caf mugs of coffee. I've been battling a headache for three days, but I'm not budging. I knew there would be withdrawals, so I'm pushing forward.

Today's been a shopping day with the kids. I managed to get an 11 min walk in, all by myself. No noise, no music. It felt great! Now off for more shopping.

One main meal I've adapted in addition to my coffee is my lunch. I usually have chicken or during lent salmon salad. I love making it with apple and celery. I finally decreased the mayo I was using, and mostly use plain, non-fat yogurt. I still add some mayo at this point for flavor, but it's much less. Just thought I'd share.

The kids are all fighting right now, I've got to go.

    I have one cup of coffee at about 6:00 in the morning and that is it. I would probably drink more, but I am BFing my youngest right now and if I have any more than that she doesn't take a good nap. So whenever I feel I can't go on and want a second cup I try to take about a 15 minute nap or exercise, whichever seems more helpful at the time. I hope your headache is better soon!
