Brian's test is finally over!! We drove down to Kansas City early (way too early) Saturday morning. Thankfully, his sister Cathy came along. His test took six hours, so we girls went shopping. Cathy knows KC a lot better than me and I really didn't want to spend the day alone. I had such a good time shopping with her. My meals weren't all that healthy: Panera egg souffle & a giant bacon cheeseburger with fries. I think I'm okay with that. I have to take a break every now and then. I didn't snack on anything bad. I was a little upset with the sizes I had to buy, but with everything so form fitting now I have to stick to the larger sizes. I did get some new workout clothes. I also actually got another swimsuit. It doesn't look too bad. I'm really happy with it. Brian and the kids gave me compliments when I wore it last night swimming. I didn't even prod them for the compliments.
Well, today is the start of a busy week. I sure wish I didn't have to work this weekend. Mass on Thursday, work on Friday (I can't make any of the Good Friday ceremonies), company and work on Saturday, Mass either at midnight after work or 8am Sunday, work again on Sunday. If that's not enough, Mikey starts track and Stevie starts soccer. Yikes!

Earlier this week, I proudly attended the Southwestern Iowa Middle School Honors Choir concert. My oldest, Mikey, was selected to participate. I had no idea what to expect as I drove to Treynor for the event. I quickly realized what a big deal this was. Cars and people everywhere. The gym was filled to overflowing.
The concert was incredible. First the 5th-6th grade choir opened with "Glory to God". All of the songs were classically beautiful. Mikey's turn came with the 7th-8th grade choir. Their songs included: Kyrie Eleison, Adoremus Te, & Gloria in Excelsis (please excuse my poor Latin spelling). At the end they combined both choirs, 400 kids total, and sang a medley of patriotic songs.
I thoroughly loved the music. It was wonderful to hear the children sing praises to God and to show their love for our country. I was almost in tears. Both choirs did a fantastic job. I sure hope Mikey gets another chance to participate in this event. For anyone interested, you can watch the concert online at:

Wow, it's been almost a week since I've blogged. I'll blame my husband for that. He's on the good computer leaving me on the slow laptop. He's been home studying for a certification test on Saturday. This throws my routine off a bit, but I'm looking forward to going on a walk with him and the twins in a little bit.
Patrick is finally sounding a lot better. Bronchitis was the final diagnosis and the second course of antibiotics really helped. He still coughs some, but is gradually returning to normal. My work weekend was busy. I really need to get my Iowa license so I can try to get a job closer to home. Commuting to the city takes a lot out of me, especially driving home late at night.
This has been kind of a strange week for me with my workouts. Usually I take Monday off after I work Fri-Sun. Everyone was home though, no school and Brian had the day off too. We went to the zoo and had a beautiful day. The kids behaved so well. I was energized and even worked out after the zoo. Tuesday I was also able to work out, swim and weight lift. Yesterday, it finally all hit me. I needed a day off. I was completely worn out and depressed. I think I was just emotionally and physically drained. No work out and we even had pizza for dinner. It tasted soooooo good. Not too good for my low carb diet, but dinner was the only time I wandered off the reservation. I also haven't been too hard on myself about it, surprisingly. I guess Brian helped out. We spent some "quality" time together. I really needed that.
Today, I'm feeling energized again. My only problem now is my knees. They are really acting up. I actually took a Naproxen to help me get around. I sure hope the weight is coming off. That would help my knees a lot.
I hope everyone is having a great week. Thanks for all the support.

Well, it's been a busy week. Patrick is finally back in school after missing 10 days. He's a little freaked out about all the work he has to make up. I suggested to the school they let him work on it during PE since he can't participate for a while any way. He's still coughing and on his second course of antibiotics. He's also on a lot of other meds. Good thing I'm a pharmacist. I'll have to call from work to be sure Brian remembers all his meds.
It's been great getting outside the last couple of days. I got two good outside walks in this week, plus walking down to the school in the afternoon. I let the kids play at the play ground after school yesterday. I actually got a little sun burn on my chest and cheeks. I hope the weather improves next week. It can be yucky today and all weekend. I'll be at work staring at computer screens, no windows. Hopefully, I can keep working out a little before work.
Have a good weekend and drive carefully with our new snow.

Wow! What a difference in my mood with the sun shining! Of course the migraine earlier this week, and Patrick's cough (10 days now) brought my mood down some anyway. I went for a walk yesterday for 35 minutes and did well. The hills in my area get tough sometimes pushing the stroller. Thankfully, I only had one of the twins with me, that lightened the load. I've been doing really well with my eating. Lent helps that a lot. I'm not allowed to snack unnecessarily. I even avoided the potatoes and Irish soda bread I made yesterday, limiting myself to the corned beef, cabbage, and a few carrots. This is the first year I've had everything turn out really well. I'm so happy the kids love my cooking and baking. We even have leftovers for tonight, so I don't have to cook again. That will give me more time to get a good walk in today with this beautiful day.
Have a good weekend everyone! I'll be working, but will hopefully be able to fit in some working out too.
