Day 91

Monday, February 27, 2012

Wow! I've officially been working out every day for three months! All weekend I did Zumba on the Xbox Kinect. It was frustrating that we couldn't get the two player game to work. I really wanted to see the kids try Zumba. I did discover how to unlock more levels, but they don't seem to be more dances, just different backgrounds. Today I did a 20 minute Intermediate class and a 45 minute Intermediate class. After that I did some weights too. I've been pretty consistant with the weights this year. I've done weights three times a week, with only one week not reaching that goal (mostly due to a rough TOM).

I'm still plugging along even though it seems like eveything around here is breaking. Our main computer is in the shop. Thankfully, Hubby got the important stuff loaded onto another computer now, so I can at least function. Doing bills is weird now. My desk is upstairs, the computer downstairs. I guess more cardio going back and forth.

One of our vans is in the shop too. I'm car-less today, but hope to have transportation tomorrow. It's not as bad as we thought, but still a chunk of money I was hoping to spend fixing something else.

Sorry to hear about everything falling apart, except you! Nice positive attitude. Doesn't working out take the frustration away!?

Love your silver lining on the desk and computer locations. Up and down those stairs is a definite way to add some extra activity.

Day 88

Friday, February 24, 2012

Today I did three 20 minute Zumba classes on the Xbox. I have to say that I really don't like the expert classes. There is no rhyme or reason to the moves, they aren't a good workout, and many times the guy (yes a man is the expert instructor) just stands there waiting for the next part of the song. I'm just working through that section to try to get more classes opened up. I did two beginner classes (great workouts) and one expert (lousy workout). After that, I did weights, non-crunch abs, and stretching.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Days 85,86,87-Streak alive, computer problems

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Our main computer crashed earlier this week, and I sometimes can't get the one in the basement to work the way I want it to. That means my sparking gets messed up a lot.

My streak is still alive. Tuesday and Wednesday I did my standard complete routine: elliptical, weights, crunches (or non-crunch abs), and Wednesday I got my stretching done too. Today I did three different 20 minute Zumba classes on the Xbox. I have to say, I didn't like the expert one. It wasn't because it was hard, although it was challenging. I didn't like the moves. Hopefully I'll be able to unlock some more routines soon.

My week is going pretty well. I started volunteering at the elementary school this week. One day in Sean's kindergarten class, the next in Bridget's kindergarten class. It will take a while to get all the kids' names right, but the teachers both appreciated me and that I was able to help keep the room quieter than normal. I guess my six kids have trained me well.

I almost forgot to mention, I got another SparkTrophy today for 30,000 points!

Days 83 & 84

Monday, February 20, 2012

Yesterday I got my exercise in at the beginning of the day, before church. I did a 20 easy Zumba routine. I use the word easy loosely.

Today I felt like swimming, so I did 40 minutes in the pool including 1600 backstrokes.

Yesterday was a rough day. I took the kids to church myself since hubby didn't feel well. Then I drove home and got ready to drive back to the city for work. My shift started ok, but quickly went downhill. The orders were constant and so were the phone calls. We had a guy in his 20's in the units not doing well. He had lots of stat orders. The ER was busy too. One order got missed for a preop antibiotic. To be honest, we never got a stat call, vocera message, or stat fax on the order until an hour after it was supposed to be given. Of course it was Dr. Jerk's patient, a very difficult man to deal with that thinks everything is pharmacy's fault. I'm sorry but in all the chaos of last night, if the nurse didn't follow up on the order she entered, there's not much we can do. If we are not made aware of the order, we don't know about it. So I'm sure there will be an incident report blaming us for this. We were so busy that we even almost forgot that there was a dose of chemo to make up. Luckily I remembered right before leaving at 10:30pm. My coworker and I stayed late to get that done. The nurse called checking on the dose, she was very understanding. It wasn't late, but it was close. I can't get my mind off of all the stuff that happened last night. Even exercising didn't help. It's hard to remember all the nurses, doctors and patients that we did help last night. You only remember the mistakes and difficult people.

I hope tomorrow goes better for you!

I never even thought about the hospital pharmacy filling all of those orders... I guess I thought the nurses just had a big medicine cabinet. LOL!

On behalf of everyone you help every shift - thank you!!

Day 82-More Zumba

Saturday, February 18, 2012

Today I did the 45 minute intermediate Zumba class on the Xbox. I was a sweaty mess after that! It was a lot of fun! My kids are telling me that they think they could easily do Zumba. I'd love to see them try. I don't think they have any idea how hard it is to mirror the instructor to get points.

Work is going well today with the exception of the continuing drug shortages that plague hospital pharmacy. It's been tough to deal with since in some cases you have no alternative to suggest to the doctors. Lorazepam injectible is in short supply and making work this weekend very difficult. Diazepam injectible would be an alternative, but we haven't been able to get a supply of that for months. I just hope we make it through the weekend with what supply we have.

Well, I'd better get back to work.

Yikes - scary about drug shortages!

Glad you're able to keep your streak going on the exercise - awesome!! Have you ever done Jazzercise? I thought Zumba was a lot more latin and fast paced, but one of my spark friends who is an instructor posted some of her routines and they look just like Jazzercise! Made me think maybe I could do it after all... LOL.

Kids are funny. The very first time I tried Zumba, it was a free trial offer that DD & I went to together. She said it was too easy. I couldn't believe she said that! She wasn't really interested in it after that. About a year later, I started to try out all the different Zumba classes in my area. My favorite was the teacher who was the most "dance-y". It took some convincing for DD to actually go with me. She took dance classes throughout her school years, so I figured she'd love it. Once she finally went with me (to the dance-y one), she was hooked. She does have much more energy than me, tho. I will say that. I don't do quite so much jumping as she does. emoticon
