Yesterday I got my exercise in at the beginning of the day, before church. I did a 20 easy Zumba routine. I use the word easy loosely.
Today I felt like swimming, so I did 40 minutes in the pool including 1600 backstrokes.
Yesterday was a rough day. I took the kids to church myself since hubby didn't feel well. Then I drove home and got ready to drive back to the city for work. My shift started ok, but quickly went downhill. The orders were constant and so were the phone calls. We had a guy in his 20's in the units not doing well. He had lots of stat orders. The ER was busy too. One order got missed for a preop antibiotic. To be honest, we never got a stat call, vocera message, or stat fax on the order until an hour after it was supposed to be given. Of course it was Dr. Jerk's patient, a very difficult man to deal with that thinks everything is pharmacy's fault. I'm sorry but in all the chaos of last night, if the nurse didn't follow up on the order she entered, there's not much we can do. If we are not made aware of the order, we don't know about it. So I'm sure there will be an incident report blaming us for this. We were so busy that we even almost forgot that there was a dose of chemo to make up. Luckily I remembered right before leaving at 10:30pm. My coworker and I stayed late to get that done. The nurse called checking on the dose, she was very understanding. It wasn't late, but it was close. I can't get my mind off of all the stuff that happened last night. Even exercising didn't help. It's hard to remember all the nurses, doctors and patients that we did help last night. You only remember the mistakes and difficult people.
