WooHoo! I'm in the double digits of the 10 min/day challenge. Today I did 30 min on the elliptical, weights (triceps, delts, glutes), and my ab non-crunch routine. After all that I stretched for 10 minutes. I feel great!!
Another positive: I think we have all our Christmas shopping done. I love having two teenagers. We can leave them in charge and go be grown-ups for a little bit. Hubby and I ate at Red Lobster (we had a gift card), so we had our second nice dinner this week. We seemed to get all the kids their gifts last night. I like to shop in the middle of the week, never the weekend during Advent. The stores are too crazy on the weekend. Today, I'll get them all wrapped. It's the first year all the kids are in school. I love that I can get them all wrapped and don't have to hide them long. That will inspire the kids to help get the tree up this weekend. I think I'll make requirements too that the basement get cleaned before anyone has any screen time this weekend. Yikes!! What a disaster down there!!
I'm sure we'll still pick up a few things, especially for the twins. They are only six. We can get lots of smaller presents for them. I think they even still believe in Santa. They are so sweet!

Today I swam for 35 minutes. I did a total of 1000 backstrokes (300+300+400) and various kicks in between each group. It was hard to get started since I worked late last night, in the city, and had to commute home. I got to bed well after one in the morning, up at 6:30 to get everyone off to work and school. The plus side, I was able to take a good nap after that.
I've avoided a lot of chocolate lately. I went to my dad's to drop off something before work. He always has bowls of candy. I did not eat any. I also didn't have any cookies when I baked some the other day for the kids. It was the day of our date, so I saved myself for the expensive indulgences. I've also avoided some chocolate Hubby brought home for the kids. I almost ate one piece, but gave it to the kids. Every small victory brings me one step closer to my goal.

Today I planned to do 10 min on the elliptical before work. I ended up feeling so good, I did 20 minutes. I could have lasted more physically, but don't want to be late for work.
Last night I went to a wonderful concert by the High School band and choir. They did a fabulous job. My oldest, Mikey, is a freshman and participates in both. Yes, I'm a proud mom.

Today is day 7 of my 10 min of exercise per day streak. I went easier on my joints and swam for 40 minutes. I did various kicks holding onto the kickbar (freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, and ab/adductor kicks) and 1000 backstrokes in 200 stroke sets.
Saturday night Hubby and I decided to go out on a date. We drove on the iffy roads to Council Bluffs to 360 Steakhouse at Harrahs. What a wonderful night. I had a filet, Oscar style, with a side of butternut squash risotto. Hubby had a ribeye, Oscar style, with a cheesy layered potato side. It was a pricey night, but for a nice restaurant, they had good sized portions. We were so stuffed after dinner, but we still split a dessert. It was a pear tart with vanilla ice cream and a caramel sauce. Add the bottle of wine with dinner, and I was more relaxed than I've been in weeks!!!

Today I got a full hour of exercise in. I went sledding with the kids. Holy Cow! Was I tired at the end. I look forward every year to times that I can go sledding with the kids. It kills my knees and basically my whole body, but I love it!!
