Yesterday's Calories

Been a few days since I have had a chance to blog. Friday I took my 6 year old camping with the cub scouts. Was only 39 degrees Saturday morning but it warmed up fast. Did a lot of walking and standing Friday and Saturday. Dish to pass lunch yesterday is always hard to log. Traveled back to NJ last night and walked 15 minutes on the treadmill but was sore and tired and didn't push it. Hope to do more tonight. Now I am at work and plugging away. A new trip to Columbus Ohio seems to be in my future as well. Lots of problems to work through. As the stress goes up so do my temptations to eat anything that I want. I need to fight the temptations.

    Lack of quality sleep = tired = trigger for emotional eating because your body is producing TOO much ghrelin (the "I'm hungry" hormone) and NOT ENOUGH leptin (the "I'm finally full" hormone). So it's a vicious circle. Hope you get it tackled today. Plus stress also causes an increase in cortisol and that encourages hunger.

Yesterday's Calories

Busy day with work yesterday. In meetings all afternoon and did not get a snack. I could feel myself getting low so left work a little after 4 and ordered cracker barrel for dinner. By 5:00 I was 72. Good thing I left early. Worked from the hotel until 7:00 and then felt like I could exercise. I walked on the treadmill with the highest elevation setting for 30 minutes. I sweat more than I have in quite a while. The treadmill saud 279 calories burned but the spark tracker said 175. Either way, it was a good workout. Dropped my insulin down from 35 units to 25 units because I know I will be in meetings again this afternoon and I have no snacks. So far I am seeing little difference in my readings. My plan is to do more on the treadmill again tonight after dinner has a chance to settle. Wish me luck!

More low blood sugars. Yesterday was a bad day because I was at a customer site all day then had to drive to the office in NJ. Lunch was delayed and I was 69 when we sat down to eat. Then my food was 30 minutes arriving. I ended up over eating. Then I was going to stop for dinner on the way to the office and the traffic was stopped on the highway due to an accident for an hour and a half. Dinner was a quick chicken mcwrap from McDonalds and I got to the hotel around 9 in time to drop in to bed. No exercise either. Back in to work by 7am so no exercise today so far. Had a long meeting this afternoon so no afternoon snack. 72 by 5pm. Do I have enoyugh sugar to exercise now? I don;t really know. Cracker Barrel haddock, baked sweet potato, fresh apple slices, and a salad with no dressing. I stopped by Walmart and picked up some supplies so I can have a snack later. n Need to go back to Walmart and return a cable so maybe I will walk for a while through the store. What a day!

Yesterday's Calories

Yesterday started out pretty well. I got my walk in early and tried to jog a little bit. My heart rate jumped up too high though. We had a good time at church and went to Texas Roadhouse for lunch. The 10 oz RIbeye probably was not the best choice but oh was it good! The plain sweet potato and steamed veggies were good choices. I paid for it the rest of the day with multiple stomach issues. Today I am back on my regular routine.

Something interesting to note: I have 2 testers, one is a Freestyle Lite and the Other is a One Touch Ultra 2. I use the Freestyle Lite most of the time but the One Touch was in my bag so I used it a couple of times yesterday. It seemed to read a bit higher than the Freestyle. Usually at my mid-morning testing I am down between 110 and 120. Yesterday the One Touch read 151. Before lunch the Freestyle has me in the 80s to 90s. The One Touch had me at 120. Now it is quite possible that the sugars were higher because the stomach issues were already in the works and I did not know it yet but by mid-afternoon the Freestyle had me down to 68. Based on how I feel I trust the Freestyle more. Has anyone seen any good comparison data to know if any particular meter is more accurate or better than another?

    I use the Freestyle too and do trust it, but haven't used anything different, ever. BUT my A!C results definitely fit in with what the Freestyle pattern is.

And if you feel like the #'s from the Freestyle are more in line with how you're feeling, that's what I'd go with.

Yesterday's Calories

I forgot to log and reset the calories burned on my watch. I will wait until tomorrow and average the 2 days. Yesterday was a good day. Today has started out well. I ate my English muffin and Greek yogurt and took a walk. I tried to jog for a small part of the walk. When I stopped I checked my heart rate and it was 94%. That is a bit higher than I like to go. I am not in shape enough for jogging yet it seems. It will get better, I know. I am just impatient. Today ends week 10 of this current part of my weight loss journey. That should mean 10 to 20 lbs lost. I will assume closer to 10 based off the logs I have been keeping. I am curious what the Dr's scales will say on the 24th. I was 188 on the last visit (July 29). Hoping for good things. Much better blood work as well.
