It is week 2 ot my taming the sweet tooth challenge. This time, I should be able to recongnize "hidden" sugars and know what they are called. I took a quiz that went with the second week of the challenge today. I learned quite a bit from that quiz, but may have to take it again so I can be more familiar with the scientific names of the sugars and know which ones are imitation or caloric sugars.
Once I am familiar with the diffrent sugars, I must start making my sugar intake less. I will have to journal my foods. Today, I really didn't do so well in lessening my intake of sugar, but will do better tommorow. But, I know when, why, and how I felt when I ate the sugary food.
Will keep everyone posted!

Today, after church, I went to the Dollar General and grocery store to get a few things. I haven't eaten breakfast unfortunately, so I was eyeing the sweets of course. Luckily, I did not give in to the temptation of buying it, but, it was tough and I did come close. I did grab a healthy snack to curb the hunger until I got home and prepared lunch. But, I found another solution in case I go to the store hungry---bring a healthy snack to munch on to curb the hunger so that way, I am not be so tempted to buy sweets when there. So, I learned a lesson or technique if in case I have no choice to go to the grocery store hungry---grab a healthy snack!

Sorry I haven't been on Sparkpeople the last couple of days. I have been very busy. But, I have found another time when I crave sweets. If I don't eat before I go shopping, I have a tendency to eye all the sweets at the grocery store, sometimes giving in and buying them. I have also came up with some solutions on what to do when I am having those cravings. Here is my list:
1. Whenever I feel bored or tired, I need to stop myself and ask," Why am I looking in the cupboards?" " Am I really that hungry?"
2. Another thing I could do to keep from eating too much in the evenings is to try to distribute my calories throughout the day and try to incorporate a morning and evening snack.
3. Try to find recipes where I really don't have to eat a lot of or any bread so I can cut down on sugar intake.
4. Plan a menu for the week and try to prepare my daily meals the day before or pick a day in which I make all my meals.
5. Eat before I go shopping.
6. When school comes around, as soon as my school day is over and I am at home, instead of turning on the TV and chowing down, I can go for a walk to help me deflate from the day.
So far, those are my solutions, if anyone would like to share some advice I am more than happy to take it. I hope everybody is having a great weekend!

Well, I just joined this group on how to "tame" your sweet tooth. For the first week, I am suppose to journal or blog about when I have my cravings for sweets and how I feel. This is my first blog on this subject, so here I go. I notice that today, I had my worst cravings for sweets in the evenings. Tonight I had two sandwiches with honey and a couple of sodas. I think part of it is that in the evenings, I feel bored and tired. I know I really hit the sweets when school comes around, due to stress. As I was looking at my food diary today, I noticed that I haven't enough calories in each meal or had snacks, so maybe I am not distributing my calories evenly throughout the day. I think that maybe, I overdue it on carbohydrates too, because that I eat bread throughout the day as well (it is 100% whole wheat bread, in case anybody is wondering). But, I can tell you for sure right now, I crave sweets in the evening and tend to overeat on it. Will keep blog updated.

Weather has been very crappy where I am at. Throughout all of last week, the roads have been very icy and slushy and the conditions were unsafe to drive. Didn't even have a chance at all this week to exercise. A lot of things happened and had to be repaired. Our waterlines froze and we haven't had water in our house the past week, my car didn't even start one morning (found out that there was moisture in the fuel and caused a clot in the fuel line, finally got the clot out and took care of that problem with sea foam, car works fine now, thank goodness). Electricity went out and we had to get that repaired. For some odd reason, school started when the conditions were still unsafe but couldn't make it in to school because my son's daycare was closed and my husband had to work. So, as you can tell, been oober busy making sure my family was taken care of. But, this week, decided that I will go ahead and start week five in the C25K because I think I am in shape enough to handle it. Also, I really want to get prepared for a 5K. I will take it easy though, considering that I haven't ran the last couple of weeks. I think I will be fine, just need to take it one day at a time.
