getting back to my workouts after being sick for two weeks

Wednesday, February 04, 2009

I tried to work out last night and I was absolutely dying. I used my heart rate monitor and found that my heart rate was way above what it was supposed to be during the workout (I'm using our Xbox and a personal trainer game that is really specifically tuned to my weight and fitness level). I was exhausted and starving around the halfway mark and I found that I was really frustrated. However, I stuck to it and did the best I could and it turned out that I had burned around 450 calories. No wonder I felt like I was working so hard, because I was! I hope I can continue to work out during the week so that next week I am good to go on our ski trip to Stowe, Vermont!

I'm so glad that I have been able to lose 35 pounds so far. It makes me want to keep going and meet my goal of 100 pounds total!

This show is interesting because they challenge an engaged couple to lose weight together with the motivation of prizes having to do with their wedding: win your flowers by losing ten pounds. Win your honeymoon by losing X lbs by X date.

The girl on this episode started at 280 lbs and was at 240 at last weigh in. She is starting to look really great! Next they are asked to hike a mile up a hill wearing all the weight that they lost. I am keeping that visual in my head for my own motivation.

My boyfriend is very thin and I know that can be hard if you are trying to lose. I am eating super restricted calories and feeling all whiny about it where he really should be eating more and bulking up. I feel weird making dinner for him for that reason. Do you find that it affects your relationship? Any tips? :)

Eating is such a big part of a relationship when you live with someone!

PS the show is on Style Network.

iTunes purchases

Tuesday, January 06, 2009

I was going to spend some cash on a Nike + iPod system to track my workouts, but then I realized what I really need is more music to work out to. I could totally see myself NOT using the little sensor in my shoes, and not really getting good use out of the sytem, but new music I would definitely use to motivate me to work out.

I decided to get some songs by The Killers, The Editors, and a couple other new-ish Joy Division ripoff bands that my sisters like a lot. I'm enjoying everything so far!

What are your favorite workout tunes?
