A slight backslide and a new challenge

I'm happy to report that I'm feeling waaaaaay better than I was last week at this time. (For those who like gorey details, I passed a kidney stone and the antibiotics made the UTI go away.) I feel great!

I'm NOT so happy to report that I had a slight backslide--I did gain 1 (or maybe 2?) pound(s) by taking time off from exercising and by eating whatever made me feel better. But with hope in my heart, I'm not reflecting that on my ticker. If I don't get back to where I was by next week, I will own up to my gain...but not yet.

I leave for my vacation one week from right now. I've been putting in so many hours at work--I really need this! I'm really going to push it this week. I joined a Spark Buddy's brand new team today--it's a 2-month walking challenge--care to join us too? Go to teams.sparkpeople.com/October2009

Not feeling up to par....

No pounds lost this week--but no gain either, so I'm ok with that.

I am one of the lucky women who are prone to all kinds of "plumbing problems" (kidney stones, urinary tract infections, etc) and I am currently battling a raging UTI. It comes on so suddenly--one afternoon you feel a little "funny" and by nightfall you can be doubled over in pain and/or sitting in the bathroom every 10 minutes. So that's what happened Thursday....barely any sleep that night, then no chance of seeing the doctor Friday because I had too many commitments at work to even think about leaving. I called his office to beg for a prescription--of course he was on vacation. Anyway, eventually I was able to convince one of his partners to take pity on me, so I have my antibiotics and should be feeling better soon--although last night was another night of almost no sleep. Thank God it's the weekend!

Needless to say I didn't do any more exercise than was absolutely necessary: throw the ball around with the dog, a couple loads of laundry, stuff like that--no treadmill, no resistance bands, no fitness DVDs. But I need this time to "take it easy...." I will be back at it when the antibiotics start working their magic.

On the brighter side: Two weeks from right now I'll be boarding a plane bound for Miami--WOO HOO!

    I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. I hope you're feeling better soon. Take care of you, don't stress about not being able to exercise much right now, and nap whenever you can! (And I hope you enjoy Miami, too! I leave for Vegas on Monday!)

I lost two pounds this week. Yea for me!

Of course, I still have far to go....I am still up over 200 and that makes me sad--but even so, I'm walking with more confidence now--I feel lighter, so whether or not it's obvious to anyone else, I walk prouder, and feel like I look slim & trim. Of course, it's all relative....I remember when I first went into a size 13 I felt like the world was crumbling around me....now one of my goals is to get back in that range!

To anyone who doesn't know me well I'm sure I still look fat....but to myself (and the co-worker who noticed my butt--thank you Barb!) I'm looking leaner. And for that I'm happy and motivated to keep it up.

This was a good week for me. I was able to FINALLY see the ticker move, a big achievement because I'd been on a 2-month plateau going into August. Truth be told, I wasn't exactly trying before, but now I feel good that a little effort has paid off.

One bad thing--I had the opportunity today to step on someone else's digital scale, and it showed me two pounds heavier than mine does. But then I immediately stepped on my own and the two pounds I thought I had lost yesterday were still missing, so whether my own scale is the accurate one or not, I did lose 2 pounds this week. I've come to the conclusion that I like MY scale better.

It was a challenging week--two birthday celebrations at work, and an obligatory pasta dinner at home. I did indulge, but with watching my diet otherwise and putting in the time on the treadmill I was able to counteract those indiscretions and still lose. No special occasions are scheduled for the upcoming week, so I'm excited to see what I can do when I DON'T cheat!!

    I'm happy to see you making progress! Can't wait until I get back home and get back in the swing of things. The cruise was not my friend, weight-wise, but I have yet to step on the scale to see how bad things really were. Oh well, it was a wonderful time and this setback is only temporary.

I should be home by Tuesday or Wednesday next week and look forward to catching up more!!

    I have been wanting to buy a digital one... but now after hearing this... UGH... maybe I will stay with my own... hahahahahaha

Great job though this week... you inspired me with your choice of working it off on the treadmill and staying on target the rest of the way!
