Men's Retreat Today

Friday, October 22, 2010

I'm hanging out in Longville MN today at our church's annual men's retreat. I'll be teaching tonight on the nature and practice of holiness, one of my favorite subjects, and I'm very excited about what the Lord might do in and through us this weekend.

If you get a chance, please hold us up in prayer!

Riding the Paul Bunyan Trail Today

Thursday, October 21, 2010

I'm heading up to central Minnesota today for our church's men's retreat and I'm going to take some time today to ride on the longest paved trail in the state: the Paul Bunyan which stretches for 110 miles. I'll only be riding a stretch of about 30 miles for a total ride of 60, but I look forward to exploring the part that I can.

I am so looking forward to a great day. I hope you have one too!

Well on my way to 2708 miles on the bike this year!

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

My new goal for the year is to put in 2708 miles for this year because that would mean I've done an even 5000 miles in the last two years. I was able to get 35 miles in today and it looks like I'll be able to get about 65 in tomorrow which will put me within 100 miles of that goal!

Wow, I can't believe how well this fall is going. The weather has been so nice and I have felt so good and my schedule has been so flexible, all of which has added up to the ability to accomplish a lot more than I usually can in the fall. If I hit that 2708 mark and still have time, and passion, I think I might try to hit 2750 for the year. We'll see how it goes!

I Surpassed the 2,500 Mile Mark on My Bike!!!

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

For the last two years my goal has been to ride my bike for 2500 miles. Last year I only made it to 2292 but this year I did it--by the grace of God, I did it!

I was so excited when my odometer hit 2500 today that I shouted out loud--boy am I glad I was out in the middle of nowhere! I'm sitting at 2503 at the moment and I've decided that, since the weather is still going to be fairly nice in Minnesota, I'm going to try to make up the extra miles from last year so that I have an even 5,000 (or more) miles for the last two years.

Even if I couldn't ride anymore this year (due to weather), I would be very happy and feel like I did everything I set out to do this year. But it's kind of fun having one more thing to shoot for with an uncertain deadline, namely, when the snow flies!

I am so happy I could...I don't know what I could do, if I was southern I'd have had something great to say, but one way or the other I'm sure happy!

Thanks, Lord!!!

Lunch Ideas, anyone?

Monday, October 18, 2010

So I've been commuting on my bike lately and all I have to carry my stuff is a backpack. Perhaps someday I'll buy a little trailer but for now it's just the backpack. The one issue I've been having with this is bringing food for lunch because it's hard to carry, but I've decided to simply tie my little lunch cooler, or whatever you call it, to my backpack so that it won't take up all the space inside.

This will help me to control my eating during the day, and save money, but now I'm fishing for some good, quick, healthy lunch ideas. Any thoughts? I love soups, spaghetti, and sandwiches for lunch but I'm looking for some variety.

Thanks in advance!
