I Surpassed the 2,500 Mile Mark on My Bike!!!

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

For the last two years my goal has been to ride my bike for 2500 miles. Last year I only made it to 2292 but this year I did it--by the grace of God, I did it!

I was so excited when my odometer hit 2500 today that I shouted out loud--boy am I glad I was out in the middle of nowhere! I'm sitting at 2503 at the moment and I've decided that, since the weather is still going to be fairly nice in Minnesota, I'm going to try to make up the extra miles from last year so that I have an even 5,000 (or more) miles for the last two years.

Even if I couldn't ride anymore this year (due to weather), I would be very happy and feel like I did everything I set out to do this year. But it's kind of fun having one more thing to shoot for with an uncertain deadline, namely, when the snow flies!

I am so happy I could...I don't know what I could do, if I was southern I'd have had something great to say, but one way or the other I'm sure happy!

Thanks, Lord!!!

Lunch Ideas, anyone?

Monday, October 18, 2010

So I've been commuting on my bike lately and all I have to carry my stuff is a backpack. Perhaps someday I'll buy a little trailer but for now it's just the backpack. The one issue I've been having with this is bringing food for lunch because it's hard to carry, but I've decided to simply tie my little lunch cooler, or whatever you call it, to my backpack so that it won't take up all the space inside.

This will help me to control my eating during the day, and save money, but now I'm fishing for some good, quick, healthy lunch ideas. Any thoughts? I love soups, spaghetti, and sandwiches for lunch but I'm looking for some variety.

Thanks in advance!

Oh boy, am I sleepy!

Sunday, October 17, 2010

It's been a long week at work. The wife and I decided to take a couple of days away to connect with one another and the Lord, but in order to do that I had to work some very long days this week, like 14-16 hour days. We did have a wonderful time together down in Wabasha MN, but I am so tired and sleepy!

Thank God that tomorrow is my day off. I look forward to getting some good rest and then tackling another week for the glory of Christ. Hope you had a good weekend, too!

Off for a 25 Mile Bike Ride

Saturday, October 16, 2010

My wife and I are hanging out in Wabasha MN today, just spending some time alone and with the Lord. We've decided to take a bike ride today that starts off going up one of the bluffs--about a 5 mile climb--and then loops back to the Mississippi River and back to Wabasha. It'll be about 25 miles and absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait to get going, but first we're off to have a good breakfast and a nice cup of Java!

Going to Wabasha MN Today

Friday, October 15, 2010

Every once in a while my wife and I get away together, and now is one of those times. We're heading down to Wabasha MN which is in the southeastern part of the state right on the mighty Mississippi river. The fall colors ought to be beautiful, and the bike ride just as lovely. Can't wait to get out there and feel the breeze against my face.

Hope you have a great weekend as well!

Great place to go. Hope you have a great time. Hope you can still get Harrelson apples and you have some. Just wondered if the Anderson House is still in business?
