Another long day and I'm tired!

Friday, October 01, 2010

I started my day today about 6:30, it's now 10 pm and I'm just wrapping it up. It's been so good--I had an hour-long conversation with a friend from India, hung out with other church planters for a few hours (and got a free lunch along the way), worked on some projects, and then attended the beginning of a weekend conference--and yet I'm so tired.

Hope you had a good one.

Speed Endurance Day Today

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

I'm going to do a workout on the bike today called "The Matchbook Maker." Here's how it goes:

Find a stretch of road where you can do a handful of uninterrupted 3-5 minute efforts. Push the pace until itís uncomfortable and hang on for 3 minutes. Recover for 2 minutes and then repeat 2 times. Repeat this exercise until you can complete 5 such efforts and then do 3 efforts of 4 minutes, working up to 5 efforts, and then do 3 efforts of 5 minutes, working up to 5 efforts.

This workout is designed to increase aerobic capacity and aerobic endurance. I've loved it every time I've done it, although it is painful at times, and I've certainly improved a lot as a cyclist.

Hope you have a great day.

Rode Around Town Today

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

I don't normally do this, but today I just took my bike out and rode wherever I felt like riding. I pushed when I wanted to and didn't when I didn't, and just enjoyed being outside and exploring my town on a beautiful fall day. I think I will work this kind of ride into my regimen more often because it really helped me tap into the child-like joy and wonder of riding my bike, and I did get some good workouts in along the way.

Hope you had a great day, it's been a good one but long for me so I'm off to bed!

Lazy Day Today

Monday, September 27, 2010

I take only one day off per week, but I really take it off! I do a whole bunch of nothing. Today is that day and I'm so glad, I really need it this week. So the plan is to have a bite to eat, spend some time with the Lord, and then I'm going to watch a few things: an old classic which I've never seen, "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," a documentary which I've been told will ruin my desire to eat beef--I doubt it--"Food Inc.," and then if there's time I want to catch up on the few reality shows I like, "Biggest Loser," "Hell's Kitchen," and "The Apprentice."

Day to day I don't take in a lot of media, frankly I'm too busy for that, but on my day off it's just about the only way I've found to keep myself from working. I'm not a workaholic but I love what I do and it's easy for me to give myself to it.

And thus, the lazy day today. Hope you have a great day, whether it's lazy or not.
