I Miss my Bike!

I've been in Charlotte NC for some meetings the last couple of days, and boy do I miss my bike! Lord willing, I'll be able to catch a brief ride after I get home (Minneapolis area) this afternoon and I can almost hear my bike calling me now--can Charlie come out and play?

It's so my easier to find time for exercise when you have a passion, and over the last decade cycling has become just that.

I've been in Charlotte at an all day meeting of fellow pastors who start new churches, and the one preparing our meals for us must be a Sparkie! Thanks be to God. She served us spinach, mandarins, a very healthy stir fry, etc--with some brownies thrown in for fun! It's so helpful to eat well when those preparing your food care about the right things!

Traveling--How Will I Eat

Well, I'm about to head out to Charlotte NC for two days of meetings where I will have no control over the food that's put before me--morning, noon, and night! So this is a new kind of test and I frankly don't know how I'll do. I pray that the Lord will help me to remain disciplined and motivated to do the right thing and to find ways to get all the fruits, veggies, etc. that my body needs.

First Week of Plateau

I've been with Spark People for a month now, and this is the first week I've not lost any weight. Over the previous three I had lost 10 lbs so perhaps my body needed a break! I've eaten the same, exercised the same, etc. so I don't know what's happening.

I must say, however, that living a healthy lifestyle is its own reward and I really feel happy and content. Because I've been giving my body the things that it needs it just feels at peace--I don't really know how else to say it.

So, I'll keep doing the right thing and I'm sure that here and there along the way I'll drop more pounds. But in the meantime, I'll also keep praying that the Lord helps me to take my joy from the journey of a changing lifestyle and not from weight-loss itself.

    God bless you! Just remember that just because the scale isn't moving does not mean you are not getting healthier. You may be gaining muscle ( which weighs more than fat) or your body may be getting used to your workout routine. Try changing your routine a bit or just kick it up a notch.

Man, I really need to start listening to my own advice! You have helped me without even knowing it!
