Final Ride before Going to India

Monday, April 12, 2010

Well, today I will take an "leave it all on the field" kind of bike ride because tomorrow I head to India for one month. I won't be able to ride while I'm there but hopefully I'll be able to keep in shape!

I will have access to the internet but it will be a slow connection so I'm not sure how much I'll be able to "spark" but we'll see.

Hope you have a great day!

  Howdy,
You don't know me, but I came across your blog when I Googled the Paul Bunyan Double Century. I'm planning on riding it as well- looking forward to the challenge! It will be my way of celebrating life as God has enabled me to be cancer-free for one year. Stay safe in India...
Blessings to you,
Lori

Leaving for India in Two Days

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Lord willing, two days from now I'll be departing for India where I will spend one month. I'm not looking forward to the immense heat, but I am looking forward to dropping some weight with the vegetable laden diet. I'm going to try to blog and stay in touch while I'm gone but we'll see how it goes.

Little Sore but Feeling Good

Saturday, April 10, 2010

I took my first longer bike ride yesterday, about 60 miles. I had taken 30 and 40 mile rides in weeks past but that extra 20 miles does matter at this time of year! Later it will seem like nothing, for now it was a bit challenging.

I came in at an average speed of 16.4 mph which is very good for me this early in the year. I'm so bummed that I can't take my bike to India and keep riding but I'm sure I'll find some way to "guard what I've gained."

More importantly than the stats, though, is that I really enjoyed myself. I don't like to have an MP3 player or anything when I'm riding, rather I like to just be with the Lord and my thoughts and it really was a very sweet time. I'm a little sore this morning but all things considered I'm feeling pretty good!

Hope you have a great day.

Endurance Ride Today

Friday, April 09, 2010

So far this year the longest ride I've done was 40 miles. Today I plan to take that up to 60. It should take about 3.5 hours, I hope to come in at 16.5-17.0 mph average but we shall see. It's a bit early in the year for me to ride that fast for that long but I've been riding fairly well this year so we'll see.

One way or the other, my main goal is to enjoy this gorgeous day and the gracious God who gave it to us as a gift! Hope you have a great day.

I hope you enjoy the ride.

Snow on the ground today for me, so no short or long ride I am afraid, but will be going soon I am sure. emoticon

Rest Day Today

Thursday, April 08, 2010

I'm off the bike today but then plan to go for about 60 miles tomorrow. Yesterday's ride went amazingly well and I can't wait to get back out there again! But for today, rest.
