Making Due with the Wrong Tools

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

I'm doing a job at my house today for which I don't have the right tools. The problem is that I can't afford to buy the right ones or to hire someone who has them so I'm stuck trying to make a way. This is frustrating me! But such is life. If you can utilize the right tools you should, if you can't you just have to find a way. Somehow I think God uses such situations to teach us many things if we'll only have eyes to see and ears to hear.

Another cross in life! How often we use improvization is amazing when you really stop and look at it, isn't it?

Good luck with your project!

Not Sure I Can do a 5K

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

I've been progressing through the Couch Potato to 5K plan for several weeks now and I'm up to three five minute runs with 2.5 minute walks in between. But my shin muscles have been hurting so bad when I run--not the bones but the muscles--that I'm honestly thinking I cannot run anymore than I have been. I'm going to keep trying but I've never liked running--actually I've always hated running--and it may just be that I never will. I REALLY enjoy other types of cardio and I may just be content with my current abilities and give myself to other things. We'll see. On the other hand, I'm rather driven and I hate losing. Setting a goal, like running 5k, and then not doing it drives me crazy. So, we shall see!

I'm a big believer in not doing any activity that you hate...how else will you stick with it, if you dread it? Setting a goal like a 5k is awesome...have you considered walking the 5k? That way you don't have to do something you hate (running) but you can still meet your goal (just modify it a little).

Either way, it's really awesome that you're making the attempt!

A Much Needed Challenge

Monday, December 14, 2009

A good biking friend of mine just challenged me and a few others to drop some weight before our annual 300 mile bike ride. I've been on a plateau since June and this is just the motivation I need to find some way to break through this seemingly impossible barrier. Honestly, though, I'm not sure how I'm going to do this as I've tried everything I can think of to start losing again. But again, this will give me the necessary motivation to try, try, try again!

It's clementine season and boy did we ever get a batch of good ones! There so sweet, God's candy, and I sure love to eat 'em!

Sleep is Good

Saturday, December 12, 2009

Sleep is good, I didn't get enough of it last night and therefore it's value has increased in my eyes! I have to "push through" this day and hope for a better, longer nights sleep tonight.

I agree totally! Sleep is good. Try as much as I do I barely manage to get my 8 hours in nightly and that's only because I force myself to head for the sack when it's time. If I don't get recharged I'm running on reserve the next day and I don't run on reserve too well.
