Decided to Join a Gym

Friday, August 28, 2009

After five months of being with SP and doing my strength training at home, I decided to join a small, local gym. Reason being I need to step up from what I'm able to do with what I have and as I considered all my options I concluded that $12 per month for top-of-the-line equipment is well worth it. I meet with a trainer on Tuesday for a free session. I can't wait to develop my weekly strength plan!

Good Luck and have fun at the Gym!!! I really enjoy the classes. They motivate me to go harder and faster. (mainly because I don't want to look like a slacker in front of a bunch of other people). Have Fun!

Awesome!!! Wow, and that is a great price too. It's great that you'll meet with a trainer too. I had a gym membership a few years back and enjoyed it but found once winter snow hit I didn't want to go.....ride on........kath

Watched Velodrome Races Tonight

Friday, August 28, 2009

Wow, that was fun! I got to watch Cat 1-5 racers sprint against each other tonight at the National Sports Center Velodrome in Blaine, MN. This was the first time I've ever seen live bike racing and it was such a rush that I plan to rent a "fixie" (cycling lingo for "single, fixed gear bike") and take a spin around the track myself. There were four crashes, which I must admit was kind of fun, but even more fun was watching the best sprinters in our state generate enormous power on their bikes in what seemed like an instant.

Can't wait to go again!

My Wife Found a Job--Thanks be to God!

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

My wife is a Spanish teacher and was laid-off this year due to 2 million in budget cuts. She hasn't been able to find another job which is a big deal for us mostly because of the insurance. She has MS and is on 4 meds which would cost us over $3k per month if we had to pay for them. We literally have five days left before our insurance runs out even as I write but out of nowhere a school called my wife, interviewed her yesterday, and hired her today.

And it's not just that she found a job, it's that the job is literally tailor made for her. It's late and I'm too tired to spell out the details but I really mean it--God hand-crafted this job for her and we are SO thankful to him for it!

Glory be to God Almighty!

In these hard times in particular with so much bad news out there it is so encouraging to hear someone give praise and witness to GOD at work in their lives.
Praise the Lord! I know you are rejoicing and I rejoice with you for God's blessings on your life.

I wish you and your wife all the best. Congratulations on her new job and I hope all goes well for both of you.

Soup & Watermelon Today

Monday, August 24, 2009

I take one day off per week and I tend to just rest the whole day. Because it's a pretty low key day I cut my cals way down on Mondays which today means I'll be eating soup and watermelon, pretty much nothing else. Soup because we just made a fresh batch yesterday afternoon and I can't wait to devour it; watermelon because our church put on an event this weekend and had a bunch of watermelons left over so I ended up taking three of them home and have to eat them before they go bad!

But it's not exactly a sacrifice: watermelon is my favorite and we don't get it year-around in Minnesota so I'll enjoy it while I can.

Ah yes, a day off, fresh home-made soup, and watermelon--thanks so much, Lord!

I like your strategy of eating fruit and soup on Mondays, I too observe a similar regimen on Mondays.
