I just rode my bike for 328.4 miles!

Saturday, August 01, 2009

My wife and I just returned from the MS Society's 2009 The Ride Across Minnesota, or TRAM for short. My wife has MS and so we've participated in this ride for 7 years now. It was an amazing ride which I was able to complete at an average speed of 17.9 mph which is pretty fast for me. I am so grateful to SP because with SP's help I have stayed disciplined about diet and exercise, I've lost weight, and I've become a better rider because of it.

If you'd like, you can still support us for this ride as we have until 8/28 to get all of our pledges in. If you're interested, just e-mail me and I'll let you know how you can link to our site and give.

that's great! It's so neat that you've been able to participate for a number of years, ride that many miles AND support a good cause. How wonderful!

Don't think I'll have access to the web on our 300 mile bike ride next week, so see you on the other side--Lord willing!

The Training is Over Now

Friday, July 24, 2009

Training has come to and end, now two days of rest and then up Monday morning to start out on a 300 mile bike ride--hopefully faster than ever before!

One More Day of Training

Thursday, July 23, 2009

I've ridden my bike over 1600 miles since January, worked my butt off, lost almost 30 lbs--and now my time of training is coming to an end. Lord willing, I will ride about 25 miles tomorrow and then take two days off (except for mellow walks each day), after which I will travel to Ortonville MN and begin the 300 mile trek to Red Wing MN.

This is the seventh year I've participated in The Ride Across Minnesota, a fund-raiser for MS which my wife has. The fastest I've ridden to this point was 15.4 mph average so my goal for this year is to achieve 16.0 mph average. We shall see how it goes!

A couple of weeks ago I rode for 150 miles in a week and was able to keep an average speed of 17.0 so I certainly think my goal is doable.

It's hard to explain the feeling you have when you've worked so hard for something and then suddenly, it seems, it's upon you. But whatever it is, I like the feeling!

I Don't Have Anything to Say

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

I'm sitting here thinking, "There must be something I have to say about something" but honestly nothing's coming to my mind!

Oh well, my brain is weak but God is good and great and gracious! Praise be to his name!

Nothing to talk about probably means you're pretty content at the moment, so that's a good thing! emoticon
