Starting to Memorize Psalm 84 Today

Thursday, July 16, 2009

The church which I have the privilege of serving as Pastor loves to memorize the Bible together and this week we're starting a six-week journey into memorizing Psalm 84, two verses per week. Here are the verses for this week:

1 How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!
2 My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the Living God.

If you're interested in joining us, you can keep up with the progress at www.gcbcmn.org.

Planning on a longer ride this week

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

My wife and I are preparing for a 300 mile, 5 day ride at the end of this month, the longest day of which is about 70 miles. So I've been bumping up my daily miles over the last few weeks but at least once this week I want to do a 70-miler as fast as I can. Truthfully, this is not so much about the training for me as it is about seeing if I can push hard for that long.

We'll see!

Riding in the Wind

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Whatever doesn't kill me will make me stronger! That's true, but riding straight into a 20+ mph wind for about 20 miles sometimes makes you feel like your going to die!

But alas, I survived and now I need to refuel so I can ride in the wind for at least two more days (that's what the forecast is calling for).

Yes, I Finally Lost Another Pound!

Monday, July 13, 2009

I've been stuck at 215 for quite a while now but this morning I was down to 214! My main goal is not to lose weight, but I must admit that it's sure fun!

The only thing that's changed is that I decided to start eating more. I've been cycling for nearly 2 hours per day because I'm getting ready for a long bike ride at the end of this month, but I kept my cal intake at the same level. Someone suggested that I up my cal intake, which I did, and "voila," I lost a pound!

Weird but cool!

Ah Yes, a Day Off

Sunday, July 12, 2009

Well, tomorrow is my day off and so I'm finally able to rest after a hard week--a good one but a hard one. It feels so good to be resting, thanks Lord!
