Barely Got SP in Today

Saturday, July 18, 2009

Today's been unusually busy--I just finished a 15 hour work day. For the first time since March I almost forgot to log in and get my SP points for the day! Whew, that was close!

MY Pattern of Rest is out of Whack

Friday, July 17, 2009

One of my teams tracks daily sleep so I've been going along with that over the last month or so and I've realized that my pattern is very irregular and probably not good. I'll get 8 here 7.5 there, but then there will be these intermittent stretches where I get 5.5 or 6.

This is not good because when I'm sleepy I turn to caffeine which is not a good thing for me. Over time it actually drains my energy and furthermore I get grouchy and not so easy to get along with. This is not good!

I need to work on this as rest is so crucial to all of life. So I think I start by taking a good look at my schedule and see if I can make any adjustments that keep me from getting into this "not enough sleep" predicament.

Starting to Memorize Psalm 84 Today

Thursday, July 16, 2009

The church which I have the privilege of serving as Pastor loves to memorize the Bible together and this week we're starting a six-week journey into memorizing Psalm 84, two verses per week. Here are the verses for this week:

1 How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!
2 My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the Living God.

Planning on a longer ride this week

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

My wife and I are preparing for a 300 mile, 5 day ride at the end of this month, the longest day of which is about 70 miles. So I've been bumping up my daily miles over the last few weeks but at least once this week I want to do a 70-miler as fast as I can. Truthfully, this is not so much about the training for me as it is about seeing if I can push hard for that long.

We'll see!

Riding in the Wind

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Whatever doesn't kill me will make me stronger! That's true, but riding straight into a 20+ mph wind for about 20 miles sometimes makes you feel like your going to die!

But alas, I survived and now I need to refuel so I can ride in the wind for at least two more days (that's what the forecast is calling for).
