I've been stalled in my weight loss for the last couple of weeks.
Last January I weighed 242 lbs and realized that something had to happen. My dad died of his second heart attack at 51 years old, just 9 years older than I am now, and I did not want to follow in his foot steps. So I began riding my bike again (on the indoor trainer) and xc skiing. My intensity level was pretty low but at least I was doing something! In addition, I told myself, "Eat whatever you want but just make sure to get your fruits and veggies each day." In this way I lost 7 lbs between mid-January and mid-March.
I did start noticing a difference in my overall feeling of health, but I was still sluggish and I knew what I was doing was not enough for the long-term so through a variety of circumstances I decided to get more serious about my weight loss, and more importantly, about my health gain.
I shared this with my wife who then introduced me to SP. I decided that I would submit myself to SP totally and do everything they told me to do, even if I thought it was stupid or not for me. I decided to approach this as though I did not know anything, even if I did in fact know some things. And it has worked!
Since March 21, 2009, I have lost another 17 lbs, my fitness level has increased drastically (for instance, I've never ridden my bike as fast as I'm riding right now), and overall I feel healthy. But as I said in my opening sentence, I've been stuck in the high 210s for the last couple of weeks and I'm not sure what to do.
So, I read several SP articles this morning and it seems to me that the only thing I can do is bump up and mix up my exercise program. I'm not sure exactly what that's going to look like, as I haven't had much time to think about it, but I do think I'll give that a try.
Any ideas? Any words of advice?
