Fabulous Friday

Friday, January 28, 2011

Today has been a busy, hectic, yet marvelous day. I began the day with my job performance evaluation, which was great. I was able to celebrate at lunch with some of my best students, the afternoon meeting that I had was with some excellent parents, I had several folks ask me if I had lost some weight, my blood pressure was not as high as normal this afternoon, and I feel good.

This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice, and be glad in it.

Government and Education

Thursday, January 27, 2011

It was Ronald Reagan that said, "The scariest words in the English language: 'I'm from the government, and I'm here to help.'"

He was truly a visionary...who knew that the resounding words of nearly 30 years ago would hold true today. Being a school administrator, and an individual who values a quality education, I am becoming more appalled and disillusioned as each day goes by regarding the empty campaign promises to reform education, and when pencil comes to paper, education is not near the priority as candidates made it to be.

I costs money to educate children to compete in the global market of 20 years from now. Folks don't realize that we have predict what the world will be like in the future, develop skills that don't exist, and educate children to be successful in a world that we have not yet seen...

And a group of people who have never been in a classroom as a teacher or an office as a principal are making decisions that make this virtually impossible.

I'm little stressed today.

Lunch or Linner

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

I am not sure what to call it since I did not get to eat today until nearly 3:00. I went to the cafeteria and picked up my salad at noon, but two misbehaving children, an impromptu parent conference, meeting at the administration office, and another misbehaving student caused things to come to a screeching halt this afternoon. Consequently that included my lunch. I did take an apple to my meeting, however, I did not eat because it was awkward. When I finally did eat lunch, it was in the presence of two teachers who just had to tell me something about someone else...Needless to say, I heard nothing, as I devoured my salad and since I was not going to have an afternoon snack, I enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie that was left on my desk by a student (my secretary said it was safe...hope she liked me today :-)

I came home to a most wonderful piece of news. One of the ladies at church is making dinner for our family tonight, so I don't have to find anything. She is a kind soul who understands the value of being healthy, and always prepares a lovely, nutritious meal for us. I fear that if I had to cook tonight that supper would be peanut butter brownies with chocolate cake for dessert and milkshakes to drink instead of water.

Some days are just like that...even in Australia. (Judith Viorst)

New Recipes

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

I have had some kind of fun trying new recipes. My wife and kids are pretty traditional in what they like to eat, and I am somewhat of an adventurer when it comes to creative cooking. I have made several sparkpeople recipes, and the family has actually liked what I have made. Good food does not have to be bad for you.

So true. I should try more of the Sparkpeople recipes, too.
