WOW I have made it and what a long road it has been, I didnt think that my recovery would take so much out of me, sorry to everyone that I have been so absent from Spark for so long, BUT my RECOVERY (and I use caps for a reason) was very hard on me, this was a long road and I am not done yet I still have one more week, I am taking it slow. But today I am finally feeling human again. I thank all of your for your gifts, thoughts and most of all prayers for my surgery and recovery. My journey continues slowly but surely. . . . . emoticon Barbara

Hi, just wanted to check in and I am glad that your RECOVERY is progressing. I can tell you first hand don't rush a thing, you will learn to listen to your body and be able to feel when your sleeve is happy or ticked at you. I've had some great days and some challenging ones, but I wouldn't change a thing. There are days I honestly feel like I am getting younger from each pound that is shed. Keep up the good work and remember this is your time to "do for you" so don't let life get in the way of your progress. None of us got this way overnight, but when you're on the right track - your best days are ahead of you. Feel well and take care -

    Hi emoticon
Take your time recovering, its only for a season.
It took 4 and a half weeks for my pain to go away. It seemed like forever at the time but I have the rest of my life to look forward to not feeling that pain EVER again! lol So, rest up! Take it easy! Relax and enjoy the ride - its all part of the journey :D

You are so wise to take it slowly! I am glad you are beginning to feel more human!
You have a "new normal" now to get used to, so take your time and build yourself a good strong foundation from the beginning. Savor each new day!
Looking forward to hearing about your journey so far. You are one amazing lady!
Peace be with you!

FINALLY its HERE

Monday, June 18, 2012

Well the day I have been waiting for, for 2 months, is finally upon me, I will be leaving for the hospital in a few hours to check in for my Gastric Sleeve operation and I am so ready. emoticon Thank you to all my friends that I have made here on Spark for supporting me through this journey, I truly appreciate all the encouragement you have given me along the way. Now that the day is here all the trials and tribulations have been worth it. So now I am off and my journey continues emoticon . . . . . . . .

Trying to Keep BUSY :o)

Friday, June 15, 2012

Keeping busy isnt an easy thing to do when you have something that you are WAITING so anxiously for emoticon, I am on my 3rd day of my countdown, and while I have managed to get a lot of house work done, I have hit a wall. I really cant do much of my cooking/baking until Sunday so for the next few days I have nothing to do, except tonight we have another Soccer registration for our Youth Soccer League so that should kill a few hours. I have been watering the heck out of the lawns and brushing Mya doing everything I know I will not be able to do after surgery for a while. I am also resting trying to reserve some energy knowing that I will need all I can get to get better, today I find out my actual surgery time, we are hoping for an early time but who knows. Just another Blog to kill some time emoticon Barbara

Mmmmm I imagine Mya will be by your side quite a bit when you need her most in the coming days. My dog is 10 now and is with my husband 24/7. They are good buddies. After my surgery last year - I had a complete hysterectomy - he finally became my buddy, as well and keeps a closer eye on me now. Gotta love dogs! AND gotta love that you lost another 3 pounds!
Sleep well and keep up the great attitude. I'm thinking of you!

Of course pray and know that I am still praying for a great surgery for you and much more happiness. Just breathe and relax until then! emoticon emoticon

One Week To Go!

Monday, June 11, 2012

emoticon I am so excited, I have less than a week before my surgery date now, I have met many milestones on this journey, I have learned a lot of things about myself during this process and I am ready for the next step. My family and friends have pulled through and supported me through this and for that I am eternally grateful, when I began this process I thought that I would be met with resistance and problems but everyone has shared their love and support. Now the true count down begins, instead of counting the days, I am counting the hours emoticon I am also thankful for the many wonderful people that I have met here on SparkPeople, that have shown their support and cheered me on through this journey as well, without you none of my milestones would have meant as much emoticon

A Little Anxiety . . . .

Saturday, June 09, 2012

emoticon I am attending my first family/friend gathering since I have started my protein shake/bar diet, and well I will not be able to enjoy the wonderful food that will be served here, I have already informed the host as to not offend her, but while everyone will be sitting down to enjoy their meal I will be enjoying a protein bar. I am not anxious about what I am going to eat but about how it will be perceived by others, but I guess I should carry my normal "I dont care" attitude into this gathering, but it is a little hard. My husband gave me an out and asked if I wanted not to go, but I told him that I am going to have to face these delimas now as they will be faced after my surgery, so I will conquer them head on now, and I have loving family and friends and they love and support my decision and know what is at stake here, so I will just hold my head high and eat my protein bar proudly emoticon

I also agree with BLUE42DOWN -- great advice. You know what you have to do for your health; and your loved ones have your back. That's all that matters. It does sound like you've got a good view of your situation.

Enjoy what's truly important at that family/friend get-together, and that's the company:)
Have fun!

Very smart realizing that you'll be facing these same dilemmas post-surgery. There will always be people out there who make judgments of others based on what they do (in your case, what you eat), but remember the Dr. Seuss line:

Those who mind don't matter;
and Those who matter don't mind.

Your loving family and friends matter. You matter.
