Here I Go AGAIN and AGAIN.....

Saturday, March 29, 2014

I posted about one year ago today. But here I am, up to 137 lbs. My ideal body weight is in the 120's. 7 lbs doesn't seem too daunting but when it's your last 7-10 lbs losing it seems next to impossible.

I have lost 60 lbs in the past, about 6 years ago. I have tried to keep my weight in the 120's where I feel the most energetic but I found myself creeping up to 140's regularly.

Since summer is coming up and a June vacation for our 10 year anniversary I need to get on the bandwagon.

I bought a fitbit. LOVE IT! I love looking at my steps and seeing that I am down throughout the day and will increase my steps by taking the steps and parking farther.

We currently do not have a gym membership. We moved and our gym is now too far to keep paying for so we dropped it. There is a small 24 hr. gym down the street I need to check out. It's one of those who give you a key and you are there alone? Does anyone else go to one like these? There are not staff who stay in the gym when it's open.

Anyway, because I HATE exercising I figure if it's close and I don't have the excuse of time (well, they don't open till 6 so I don't have time in the mornings) I need to just do it and get up and out of bed to hit the gym in the mornings to get it done and out of the way each day!

So, here I go again, tracking my food, hitting the gym and making sure I get 10,000 steps in the scale has to move the other way, right?

Weight Loss Challenge

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

I am currently in a weight loss challenge with my family. The winner will walk away with $120. The challenge is 4 weeks and we weigh in every month. Now I am super motivated since summer is right around the corner and I am following my plan, but I am not seeing the scale move! I am 134.4 with a goal of 122-125. I know for this to happen I really need to hit the gym. (Anyone else HATE the gym?)

This month, during this challenge, I have my anniversary, my birthday, my daughters birthday and we are moving!! Now, I have lots of reasons to eat junk food. I did indulge on my anniversary as we went to a nice dinner, but planned that day accordingly so I could eat and enjoy myself.

Our new house has a subdivision pool. This has got to be my motivator! Being at the pool with your neighbors, people you know! So, GOAL this WEEK: Go to gym 1 time! That's not too hard right? I am taking the stairs 4 times per day (that's 800 stairs going UP) throughout the day. I am walking to our parking garage (down the street) vs. taking the shuttle. I have incorporated some physical activity throughout my day but just HATE going to the gym. Not sure how else I can make it happen.

How does everyone else incorporate activity? Do a lot of people do the 10 minute workouts throughout the day?? Just needing some tips!

Wow! 800 steps! That's 200 steps 4X/day! That is GOOD!

For myself, I like to walk and have been joining more and more Meetup groups to walk with groups of people. Check them out on line, There are all kinds of groups gathering together: hikers, kayakers, bikers, rock climbers, city strollers, swimmers, dog walkers, not to mention diners and movie goers! emoticon

10 min. workouts are great when your pressing for time. Every minute adds up.

Good luck with your challenge! emoticon emoticon

New Job!

Sunday, February 13, 2011

So two days ago I learned I got a new job as a hosptial social worker at a children's hospital. This has made me think and not sleep well for the past few days. I am SO very excited about the prospect of change. I have been in the realm of child welfare for 10 years so this will be a change and one that I feel I am so ready for.

I have to dress up at my new job which made me go clothes shopping. This always makes me want to lose more weight. I am down to 132 with my ideal weight being 122. That means I have 10 pounds to lose. I don't believe this can be done without excercise but due to my increasing pain in my hips working out causes me issues. Friday I had my first round of steroids in my pelvis which was very painful. My hope is after my second round I will be closer to pain free.

In order to lose this last 10 pounds I really, really need to get to the gym 2-3 times per week and work on my food habits.

I have to start this job in 3 weeks, now what can I get done in 3 weeks?
