August 4

Tuesday, August 05, 2014

Today has been a very hot day here in the Seattle area. Our house gets quite hot so it has not been the most pleasant of days as far as that goes. Tonight is better though as it is cooling off.

Tomorrow I am going to my mom's for a few days. She lives 2 1/2 hours away on the other side of the Cascades. My mom needs to have surgery and is meeting with the surgeon tomorrow. So I am going to go to the appointment with her. She likes to have me there to hear and to ask questions that she might not think of. It will be a nice little vacation for me and my mom and always have a great time together. Hopefully I will able to exercise some and not eat too much junk while I'm there.

Until tomorrow. emoticon

Blog Stuff

Saturday, August 02, 2014

You know, I'm not very good at this blogging. I can never think of anything interesting to say. Well, I'll try it again.

August is here already and my son will be returning to college in 11 days. He has been home since May 4th so he is ready to go back and we are ready to have him go back! I have really enjoyed the summer with him though. He helped me paint the inside of the house during the month of May. It looks so much better. I can't believe the difference fresh paint makes.

I've been riding my bicycle some lately. Since I haven't ridden in quite a few years it has been kind of daunting and kind of fun. It has proven to me that even if I can walk fast on the treadmill for an hour that doesn't mean I can ride a bike for very long without running out of breath! It's getting better and it doesn't make my knee hurt at all like walking does, so that is great.

So, that is all for now. Maybe tomorrow I will be more interesting!

I thought your blog was interesting. When I started riding my bike a few years back I hadn't been on a bike for like 25 years. Keep riding, it is so much fun.

Two Years Already

Tuesday, December 03, 2013

Wow, I can't believe I have been on Sparkpeople for 2 years. I don't seem to have accomplished much if just look at the scale. I lost 7 lbs. that have stayed off and another 5 or so that I keep losing and gaining back. It seems I am stuck in one spot.

But there have been many other changes that I've noticed. I can walk quickly for 60 minutes. I can go up and down the stairs without running out of breath. I miss it when I don't get to do my workout. The nutrition tracker has really helped me see how much I eat and where the calories come from. I feel better about myself and the way I look, even at my current weight. I don't worry so much about what other people think of me any more, because I know that I am a work in progress.

Thanks Sparkpeople and all my Spark friends for your encouragement and help. You all inspire me to make better choices and to keep on moving.

I think that realization is the best sparkiversary gift you could possible give yourself. It's not about anyone else, and if you are happy with you the whole world is a brighter place.

Virtual Model

Thursday, March 14, 2013

I just did a virtual model of myself now and at my goal weight. Wow! It is very telling and very motivational. I REALLY want to look like the goal weight picture!

I looked like this at one time. I WILL look like this again.

I liked reading daily blogs from others more than I enjoyed writing them. I will have to make time to continue doing so.

Although I didn't necessarily like the daily blogging, I have gotten to know a lot more about myself and others. I guess it was worth it!
