Couch to 5k

Saturday, October 20, 2007

Well, today was my second day of the couch to 5k training program. It was harder than I expected, but I did it. I went to Shelby Farms and hoofed it around the lake. 1 mile!!

My daughter was sick all night last night. She's 16, and usually, I'm not too over-protective, but when she is that ill, I am. So, we are hanging out at home today. Gonna watch some anime and relax.

I have to get up and move around pretty regularly, though....I'm some sore.

A New Goal

Wednesday, October 17, 2007

Okay, I know that I need structure if I am going to succeed. And I always function best when I have a lot on my plate. Guess I'm the epitome of the saying: if you want something done, give it to a busy person. Yeah, I'm the busy person.

Anyway, I've decided to start training to run a 5k marathon. Got the training schedule from and it looks doable. We'll see.

Also, though this isn't a set goal yet, I am going back to school!!!!! Yay me! For my bachelors in communications with an emphasis in technical writing. Gotta jump the financial hurdles first. Once that's done, I will definitely add it to my goals.

So, that said, wish me luck, y'all. It's a 9 week training program. I can do this!

I think it's great that you have such wonderful ambitious goals! Going back to school and training to fun that 5K marathon. I know the school one isn't happening yet, but you can do it and anything else you really put your mind to.
Good luck with your goals!

Okay, I hate the picture I have on here. But I wanted something "before-ish" so I can proudly post an after picture in December or January.

I started this journey because I am tired of other women asking me if I am pregnant! My youngest child is 14. It's depressing.

Then, last Thanksgiving, I went visit family and saw an old friend. She used to be very heavy and now looks amazing. I got jealous. And I know if she can do it, so can I. :)

The same goes for us all, I believe. If one of us can do this, we all can!

Yay! Taking this step is awesome, and believe me it feels soooo powerful about day 5 and so far I am still riding that high from the endorphins. I guess the important thing to do is use us for inspiration and camaraderie, we are all in this together! Go team us!
