A Sunday Spiritual Hymn!

Sunday, April 24, 2011

Happy Easter Everyone! Today's spiritual hymn is one of my favorites, one that I learned many years ago. The words and the music was written by A. H. Ackley in 1933. The inspiration for this hymn came from Matt 28:1-10, "He is not here, He is risen".

TITLE: He Lives

1. I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today;
I know that He is living, whatever man may say;
I see His hands of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him, He's always near.
(REFRAIN).

2. In all the world around me, I see His loving care,
And tho my heart grows weary, I never will dispair;
I know that He is leading, thru all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing, will come al last.
(REFRAIN).

3. Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing,
Eternal Hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King;
The hope of all who seek Him, the help of all who find,
None other is so loving, so good and kind.
(REFRAIN).

REFRAIN:
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me, and talks with me, along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.

Have a Happy Easter! In His Love, Grace and Mercy, Vic.

A Saturday Morning Spiritual Hymn!

Saturday, April 23, 2011

Greetings Everyone! Today's hymn is a beautiful four-part hymn where alto's sing first, then they repeat and bass sing also, then allto's and bass repeat and tenors sing, and then alto's, bass and tenors repreat while sopranos join the sing. Finally, they end the hymn by repeating their part once more. The inspiration for the lyrics come directly from scripture, 1 John 4:7 and 8, 1 Cor 13, and Luke 10:27. The music was created by Peggy West in 1993.

TITLE: The Greatest Commands

1. Alto Sing alone:
Love one another, for love is of God,
He who loves is born of God and knows God,
He who does not love does not know God,
God is love, God is love.

2. Alto sing their part again and Bass add their part:
Love bears all things,
Believes all things,
Love hopes all things,
Endures all things.

3. Alto and Bass repeat their part and Tenor add their part:
God is love, God is love, God is love,
God is love, God is love, God is love,
God is love, God is love, God is love,
God is love, God is love, God is love.

4. Alto, Bass and Tenor repeat their parts and soprano add their part:
Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
With all thy soul, all thy strength, all thy mind,
Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
With all thy soul, all thy strength, all thy mind.

5. Alto, Bass, Tenor and Soprano repeat their part together one more time.

What a beautiful hymn it is when the four parts blend their voices together.

Have a wonderful weekend and be blessed! In his Love, Vic.

A Friday Prayer and Message!

Friday, April 22, 2011

A Glorious Morning To Everyone! As we prepare for the weekend, let's keep God first in our mind. Praise His Holy name!

PRAYER: "Holy Father, Eternal God! We recognize how sinful and needy we are. We know we cannot save ourslves in any way, that we need to change our purposes in life, and that You saved us in every way. We humbles ourselves before You, as we confess our sins to You, and praise You for your forgiveness. Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer up to You the fruits of our heart and lips. Grant us your never-failing love and mercy, and enable us to love You above all else. This we pray and ask in the blessed name of Jesus our King, Amen!"

MESSAGE: Following Jesus!
1. 1 John 5:3 says, "For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not grevious".
a. Our relationship to God nd our obedience to His commandments are inseparably linked.
b. To say we love God and not keep His commandments is living a lie.
c. That is why we must learn HOW to change our purpose in life.
2. 1 John 5:4 and 5 - tells us HOW to overcome the world.
a. Vs 4 - "Whosoever is born of God overcomes the world".
1. To change our purpose in life, we must be born of God.
2. The victory that overcomes the world is our faith.
3. Our faith requires not only our belief, but also our obedience to God's commandmments.
b. Vs5 - Who is he that overcomes the world? It is he/she that believes (obedient faith) that Jesus is the Son of God.
3. What do you think about this? Only throiugh the Son does man have access to and finds favor with God. There is no other way! To Be Continued Monday.

May God show his love and mercy to everyone this weekend who makes Jesus Lord and Master. In His Love, Vic.

A Thursday Prayer and Message!

Thursday, April 21, 2011

A Blessed Morning To Everyone! What a wonderful feeling to be able to see light in the midst of darkness. Give God the glory!

PRAYER: "Heavenly Father, Illuminating God! Prause be to your name forever and ever; wisdom and power are yours. It seems that sometimes in the middle of the night our problems appear larger. Darkness brings its own sources of fear and danger. Remind us O Lord, that You never sleep and we can come to you day and night. Give us the treasure of faith in times of darkness, and reveal to us the mysteries stored in secret places. Drive all fear from us by your great love, and fill our darkness with your marvelous light. This we ask and pray in the name of Jesus our Redeemer, Amen!"

MESSAGE: Following Jesus!
1. As we look at HOW we need to change ourselves, according to God's plan for us, we see that the first step is to Change Our Purpose in life.
a. 1 John 4:9 - Love is the key that opens many mysteries for us.
1. "God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him".
2. To grasp God's love aright, we must look at HOW God demonstrated that love.
3. This verse reveals the PURPOSE of why He sent Jesus to us...."So we may live through Him".
b. 1 John 4:10 - The standard for God's great compassion is revealed in this verse:
1. "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, (and to prove it), and sent his Son to be a propitiation (an atoning sacrifice) for our sins".
2. This was God's own action on our behalf.
3. Jesus satisfied God's demmand to punish sin while at the same time providing for us a way to change so we may come to God without being punished.
4. God will never accept sin, but will punish sin; only in Christ Jesus can we stand sinless before God. To Be Continued!

May God help us to understand His Great Love and compassion for us. In His Love, Vic.

A Wednesday Prayer and Message!

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

Goooooooooood Morning Everyone! It's GREAT to be living and serving the Living God. Give Him all praises!

PRAYER: "Heavenly Father, Living God! There are areas in our life that seem dead to us. These areas need an infusion of your breath of life. Dreams we once had, seem as if they are dead, because for so long they have not yet been a reality. We know You can make dry bones into a vast army. We know can bring life to anything we pray about. Breathe life into these areas that are dead, so we may become totally alive. You are an Awesome God, and everything is possible with You. This we ask in the precious name of Jesus our Lord, Amen!"

MESSAGE: Following Jesus!
1. Having seen two good reasons WHY we need to change ourselves according to God's instructions in Eph 4:22-24, let's now turn our attention to HOW!
a. Eph 4:23 tells us we need to be renewed in the spirit of the mind.
b. But HOW do we accomplish this?
2. Rom 12:1-2 gives us the steps to follow:
a. Vs 1 - We are to present our bodies as "LIVING SACRIFICES' to God.
1. Not as dead ones in the Old Testament, but as LIVE ONES.
2. This is a LIVING SACRIFICE that is HOLY (set apart to be like God), for God will not accept anything that is not Holy.
3. A body that has been an instrument of sin must now become an instrument of righteousness.
4. It is our reasonable service to perform and be a channel through which God's righteousness is manifested.
b. Vs 2 - We start by no longer conforming to the pattern of this world.
1. We are to be transformed by the renewing of our mind (pour into a new mold).
2. We must teach the mind to prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
3. So we must learn to think as God thinks, have different value systems from the world, and not conduct ourselves as those in the world, but as God does.
3. What do you think about this? We have been given two examples to choose from: The world, or Jesus. Which one is going to lead you to heaven? To Be Continued Tomorrow!

May God help us as we make this transformation of ourselves to His pleasing will and follow the example of Jesus. In His Love, Vic.
