Romans 8:26-27
New International Version (NIV)

"26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God."

Most Holy Father, God of heaven and earth. You are our God and are worthy of all praises and worship. Father, we don't always know how to pray about certain things, but You, Holy Spirit, yOU know how to pray in all things. Help us in our weakness by interceding for us and through us. You know the will of the Father and You know how to pray. Guide us and teach us how to pray, especially when we have exhausted all our words, thoughts and intent. Enable us to communicate our deepest thoughts, feelings, fears and doubts so that our prayers may rise as a fragrant offering and sacriice to the God we love, the God who loved us first; and to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. It is in Jesus' name that we pray and ask these things, Amen!

I WILL extol Thee, O LORD; for Thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. Psalm 30:1 {KJVB}

Crisp fresh cold morning air bites away at the lethargy.
sun shining down on me as i head off out the door around the block.
up the deserted street silent, as the incline, decline brings rosy cheeks
brows of sweat and breathing in deeply my heart is working it's way back
legs stride and arms swinging as hands grip the dogs leads.
come on just over here as the brow of the hill reveals a turning.
homeward bound we stroll across the streets of tarmac, dew on grass
and back tracking up and down the hilly plain arriving at last to the house
where water bottles spill and rest restores as i contemplate an afternoon swim.
how pleasant it is to exercise now as creaking bones and once stiff muscles
flex and carry my changing frame, as muscle firms and grows and fat leaves.
this is me now, moving and shaking off that old dusty moth eaten identity
that at 55 i can be fit and healthy!

As I was making another batch of stir fry today with the mini sweet peppers, I found a multi- rainbow colored baby sweet pepper. I don't know why this amused me so but it goes with todays quote.

The great lesson from the true mystics, from the Zen monks, and now also from the Humanistic and Trans-personal psychologists, is that the sacred is in the ordinary, that it is to be found in one's daily life...in one's own back yard.

Mark 10:49-50
And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, 'Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.' And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

Kate was so thankful. God had truly blessed her. She had been on the verge of collapse, and the doctor told her that her weight had to go. Reluctantly, she had started to diet, not expecting any great results. She prayed for God to help her, because she felt so weak. When the doctor gave he a clean bill of health, she closed her eyes and prayed. God is God of the impossible. When we say 'can't,' He says 'can.' Faith is believing that God can, and will, help us when we are in need. God cares for His children, and for that we should be eternally grateful.

Today's thought: I'd rather be grateful than have another plateful!

A. In what other way does the Good Shepherd prove He cares? (John 10:15-16).
1. Jesus proves He cares by being willing to lay down His life for the sheep (Vs 15).
2. In other words, “By Proving Salvation”.
3. Notice that there will be other sheep added to the flock and included in salvation beside just the Jews (Vs 16).
4. Jesus came to Israel but many rejected Him (John 1:11).
5. The other sheep were the Gentiles which includes us. (John 1:12).
2. PICTURE THIS: Salvation is the results when we place our faith in Jesus (Heb 7:25) and it is eternal (Heb 7:28). Jesus died for every person in this world, but it is of no value to us unless we come to Jesus and obey the gospel (2 Thes 1:8). Like the shepherd of Luke 15:4-7, Jesus is still searching for His lost sheeps, ready to save those who obey and follow His teachings. The question is: “Are you one of His sheep?”

TODAY’S HYMN: By John S. Norris (1890)

“Where He Leads Me I Will Follow”

1. I can hear my Savior calling, I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling, “Take thy cross and follow, follow close to Me”. REFRAIN

2. I’ll go with Him thru the garden, I’ll go with Him thru the garden,
I’ll go with Him thrum the garden, I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way. REFRAIN

3. I’ll go with Him thru the judgment, I’ll go with Him thru the judgment,
I’ll go with Him thru the judgment, I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way. REFRAIN

REFRAIN: Where He leads me I will follow, Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow, I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way.

May God help us and bless us so we may know our detours in life are already known to Him.

It’s been a GREAT WEEK: Give God all the glory and praise.

1. Jesus, the Good Shepherd!
A. Does Jesus care about his sheep? His care is proven by His sheep! (John 10:14).
1. The individual sheep in a flock all look alike to an untrained eye, but not to Jesus.
2. A good shepherd can tell them apart, often by some defect or peculiar traits.
3. Jesus knows everything there is to know about you and me (Matt 10:29-31; Matt 6:8).
4. He knows every strength, , every weakness, every joy, every burden, every victory, every battle, every mountain, every valley, and stands ready to help us in out time of need (Heb 4:15-16).
2. PICTURE THIS: A man who was tending a large flock of sheep told a friend, “See the sheep over there? Notice how it toes in a little. The one behind it has a squint. The one next to that one has a patch of wool off its back. Ahead of that one is one with a distinguishing black mark. And the one closes to us has a small piece torn off its ear”. Jesus knows the individual weaknesses and failings of the sheep in His flock, and he watches over each one with discerning love and understanding. He notes our doubts, fears, trials, conflicts and defeats that disturb our peace. And He is swift to come to our aid. Jesus cares….do you care enough to become one of His sheep?

TODAY’S HYMN BY Frank E. Graeff & J. Lincoln Hall (1901)

1. Does Jesus care when my heart is pained, Too deeply for mirth and song;
As the burdens press, and the cares distress, And the way grows weary and long? REFRAIN

2. Does Jesus care when my way is dark, With a name less dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades, Does He care enough to be near? REFRAIN

2. Does Jesus care when I’ve said “good-by”, To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks, Is it aught to Him? Does He see? REFRAIN

REFRAIN: O yes, He cares; I know He cares, His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long night dreary, I know my Savior cares.

Matthew 5:11
'Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.'

Ken could hardly wait to get back to school. Peter had ridden him about his weight the entire year before. When Ken had vowed to lose weight over the summer, Pete had laughed at him. 'Fat boy, you can't keep away from food. You'll be back, big as a beach ball. Don't kid yourself!' Ken could hardly wait to make Pete eat those words. He had spent the entire summer as a Christian youth counselor at camp. The people there were so supportive of what he was trying to do. They had made it possible. Not only had they helped him lose weight, but they helped him show Peter just how wrong he could be!

Today's thought: I'm going to prove that there's more to me than my weight!

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalm 27:14 {KJVB}

I'm on day four of my "diet." I've been on roller-coaster diets all my life and I've noticed certain things that happen to me while I'm on a diet.

1) I start to think everything I put in my mouth will make me gain weight.
2) Feeling full (even eating healthy, lean food) makes me think I ate too much.
3) I feel the need to weigh myself EVERY single morning. I start my diet thinking 'oh, I'll weigh myself once a week.' Well, once a week turns into once a daily weigh-in, but I only record it once a week.

What is wrong with me? Why do I obsess over every little thing I put in my mouth when on my diet? Is this ... normal? Normal in the sense that other people do these things as well? Ugh!

On a better note, I've been resisting every temptation put in my face these last four days. Every time I resist, I feel stronger and more determined. It gets easier every time.

May God Bless us and grant us to rest awhile in His Perfect Plan, and then allow us to step joyfully into the new day that awaits us.

Give God all the glory and honor.

TODAY’S MESSAGE: By God’s Family Team

A. Should we, like Jesus, possess the right concern about life and our future?
1. Jesus explains the difference between a hireling and a shepherd in John 10:11-16).
A. The hireling is there only for the paycheck and is not concerned about the sheep.
B. When troubles comes, the hireling leaves the sheep to be scattered and destroyed.
C. The shepherd owns the sheep and has vested interest in their welfare.
D. The shepherd is willing to sacrifice his life for his sheep.
2. Jesus has proven He is the Good Shepherd by His sacrifice for you and me.
A. Isa 53:6 says we are like wayward sheep and need a Good Shepherd.
B. Waywardness (sin) separates us from both the fellowship and relationship with God (Isa 59:2).
C. Worse yet, is that sin has brought man under the wrath of God (John 3:18, 36).
D. This condition leads to a sinner being cast into hell for all eternity (Rom 6:23).
2. PICTURE THIS: Jesus was called upon to endure a terrible death for sinner. Crucifixion is a horrible death (Isa 52:14. Ps 22:14-22). Jesus was beaten, mocked, spit upon, slapped, had beard plucked from His face, whipped, forced to wear a crown of thorns, and then was crucified. He endured the awesome wrath of God against sin , for you and for me. When on the cross, Jesus became sin and was judged in our place for our sins. He died for you….are you living for Him?

TODAY’S HYMN By Twila Paris (1985)

1. Your only Son no sin to hide, But You have sent Him from Your side,
To walk upon this guilty sod, And to become the Lamb of God.
Your gift of love they crucified, They laughed and scorned Him as He died,
The humble King they named a fraud, And sacrificed the Lamb of God.

REFRAIN: O Lamb of God, sweet Lamb of God, I love the holy Lamb of God,
O wash me in His precious blood, My Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.

2. I was so lost I should have died, But You have brought me to Your side,
To be lead by Your staff and rod, and to be called a lamb of God.

One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple. Psalm 27:4 {KJVB}

Luke 15:10
'Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.'

Paul fumbled with his keys outside his apartment. When he tried the lock, the door swung inward. Cautiously, he entered. As he switched on the light a dozen of his friends and neighbors jumped out, shouting, 'Surprise!' They had come out to offer a congratulations party for the sixty pounds Paul had been able to lose. It was such a wonderful moment. Paul had felt joyful about what he had done for some time, but it was something special to have friends celebrate with him. God had blessed Paul so much. Not only had He helped him when he dieted, but He gave him such good friends.

Today's thought: To gain means starvation; to lose, jubilation!

“But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and skip about like calves from the stall. Malachi 4:2 NASB)

Dear LORD,

I revere your name. Thank you for your promise of protection to those who fear your name. In the face of danger we can have a spirit that is free of every worry. Come what may, we can experience the joy of the LORD. I’m not sure what that looks like right now, but I trust your word. You are the one who brings healing to my every situation. In the darkest night, you can set me free from the burden of fear.

Thank you, Jesus.

Today as I continue to count my blessings and all that I am thankful for - today would be for the gift from God of my children - Melissa, Rachel and Jesse. They have all enriched my life and taught me many things! Melissa was only with us for a brief visit but packed a lifetime of memories and lessons into those short days, Rachel is always showing her love and her gentleness to others - she is a blessing to all that she meets! Jesse is our baby and he teaches us so many things too from a boy's perspective! Both of them are now teenagers but still love to snuggle with their mom, something that I treasure everyday! They both tell me everyday that they love me! I am truly blessed.

Hi all yes it my intention to hit 60 running.
running for health, by walking, swimming, generally keeping active and independent.
Yes I do a lot more exercise than just a few months ago.
my life is much more active and fullfilling and i seem to be able to fit more in a day.
the couch and the dogs sitting on it see me much less these days.
i used to think my few steps from the car while the dogs ran around was exercise
but now i see the real picture.
some days i ache and climbing the stairs can be an effort.
after sitting i creek some getting up and getting moving.
but how much easier it is and is going to get as i progress and make this a lifestyle.
the 500ml bottles were a great idea. i count 250ml as a glass and 8 250ml a day is easy
now. it's like an auto pilot for me as i sit doing spark. or after exercising.
bit of a rebel regarding the food but as long as i keep tracking i'm aware of my patterns.
and i'm learning all the calories of different foods and considering their contents and
nutritional value.
i sense my metabolism is changing some and i seem to be continuing to shape up and
trim down. although i don't weigh my clothes are getting looser as the weeks pass.
and hey i'm feeling fitter all round so healthy body healthy mind.
thank you for all your encouragement. making friends here as well now.
have a great weekend. off to 40th aniversary party tonight can't wait.

May God bless us for the privilege of standing in a circle of Your love and the Gift of Jesus.

Give God all the praise, glory and honor!
