1. Jesus, the Good Shepherd!
A. Does Jesus care about his sheep? His care is proven by His sheep! (John 10:14).
1. The individual sheep in a flock all look alike to an untrained eye, but not to Jesus.
2. A good shepherd can tell them apart, often by some defect or peculiar traits.
3. Jesus knows everything there is to know about you and me (Matt 10:29-31; Matt 6:8).
4. He knows every strength, , every weakness, every joy, every burden, every victory, every battle, every mountain, every valley, and stands ready to help us in out time of need (Heb 4:15-16).
2. PICTURE THIS: A man who was tending a large flock of sheep told a friend, “See the sheep over there? Notice how it toes in a little. The one behind it has a squint. The one next to that one has a patch of wool off its back. Ahead of that one is one with a distinguishing black mark. And the one closes to us has a small piece torn off its ear”. Jesus knows the individual weaknesses and failings of the sheep in His flock, and he watches over each one with discerning love and understanding. He notes our doubts, fears, trials, conflicts and defeats that disturb our peace. And He is swift to come to our aid. Jesus cares….do you care enough to become one of His sheep?

TODAY’S HYMN BY Frank E. Graeff & J. Lincoln Hall (1901)

1. Does Jesus care when my heart is pained, Too deeply for mirth and song;
As the burdens press, and the cares distress, And the way grows weary and long? REFRAIN

2. Does Jesus care when my way is dark, With a name less dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades, Does He care enough to be near? REFRAIN

2. Does Jesus care when I’ve said “good-by”, To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks, Is it aught to Him? Does He see? REFRAIN

REFRAIN: O yes, He cares; I know He cares, His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long night dreary, I know my Savior cares.

Matthew 5:11
'Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.'

Ken could hardly wait to get back to school. Peter had ridden him about his weight the entire year before. When Ken had vowed to lose weight over the summer, Pete had laughed at him. 'Fat boy, you can't keep away from food. You'll be back, big as a beach ball. Don't kid yourself!' Ken could hardly wait to make Pete eat those words. He had spent the entire summer as a Christian youth counselor at camp. The people there were so supportive of what he was trying to do. They had made it possible. Not only had they helped him lose weight, but they helped him show Peter just how wrong he could be!

Today's thought: I'm going to prove that there's more to me than my weight!

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalm 27:14 {KJVB}

I'm on day four of my "diet." I've been on roller-coaster diets all my life and I've noticed certain things that happen to me while I'm on a diet.

1) I start to think everything I put in my mouth will make me gain weight.
2) Feeling full (even eating healthy, lean food) makes me think I ate too much.
3) I feel the need to weigh myself EVERY single morning. I start my diet thinking 'oh, I'll weigh myself once a week.' Well, once a week turns into once a daily weigh-in, but I only record it once a week.

What is wrong with me? Why do I obsess over every little thing I put in my mouth when on my diet? Is this ... normal? Normal in the sense that other people do these things as well? Ugh!

On a better note, I've been resisting every temptation put in my face these last four days. Every time I resist, I feel stronger and more determined. It gets easier every time.

May God Bless us and grant us to rest awhile in His Perfect Plan, and then allow us to step joyfully into the new day that awaits us.

Give God all the glory and honor.

TODAY’S MESSAGE: By God’s Family Team

A. Should we, like Jesus, possess the right concern about life and our future?
1. Jesus explains the difference between a hireling and a shepherd in John 10:11-16).
A. The hireling is there only for the paycheck and is not concerned about the sheep.
B. When troubles comes, the hireling leaves the sheep to be scattered and destroyed.
C. The shepherd owns the sheep and has vested interest in their welfare.
D. The shepherd is willing to sacrifice his life for his sheep.
2. Jesus has proven He is the Good Shepherd by His sacrifice for you and me.
A. Isa 53:6 says we are like wayward sheep and need a Good Shepherd.
B. Waywardness (sin) separates us from both the fellowship and relationship with God (Isa 59:2).
C. Worse yet, is that sin has brought man under the wrath of God (John 3:18, 36).
D. This condition leads to a sinner being cast into hell for all eternity (Rom 6:23).
2. PICTURE THIS: Jesus was called upon to endure a terrible death for sinner. Crucifixion is a horrible death (Isa 52:14. Ps 22:14-22). Jesus was beaten, mocked, spit upon, slapped, had beard plucked from His face, whipped, forced to wear a crown of thorns, and then was crucified. He endured the awesome wrath of God against sin , for you and for me. When on the cross, Jesus became sin and was judged in our place for our sins. He died for you….are you living for Him?

TODAY’S HYMN By Twila Paris (1985)

1. Your only Son no sin to hide, But You have sent Him from Your side,
To walk upon this guilty sod, And to become the Lamb of God.
Your gift of love they crucified, They laughed and scorned Him as He died,
The humble King they named a fraud, And sacrificed the Lamb of God.

REFRAIN: O Lamb of God, sweet Lamb of God, I love the holy Lamb of God,
O wash me in His precious blood, My Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.

2. I was so lost I should have died, But You have brought me to Your side,
To be lead by Your staff and rod, and to be called a lamb of God.

One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple. Psalm 27:4 {KJVB}

Luke 15:10
'Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.'

Paul fumbled with his keys outside his apartment. When he tried the lock, the door swung inward. Cautiously, he entered. As he switched on the light a dozen of his friends and neighbors jumped out, shouting, 'Surprise!' They had come out to offer a congratulations party for the sixty pounds Paul had been able to lose. It was such a wonderful moment. Paul had felt joyful about what he had done for some time, but it was something special to have friends celebrate with him. God had blessed Paul so much. Not only had He helped him when he dieted, but He gave him such good friends.

Today's thought: To gain means starvation; to lose, jubilation!

“But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and skip about like calves from the stall. Malachi 4:2 NASB)

Dear LORD,

I revere your name. Thank you for your promise of protection to those who fear your name. In the face of danger we can have a spirit that is free of every worry. Come what may, we can experience the joy of the LORD. I’m not sure what that looks like right now, but I trust your word. You are the one who brings healing to my every situation. In the darkest night, you can set me free from the burden of fear.

Thank you, Jesus.

Today as I continue to count my blessings and all that I am thankful for - today would be for the gift from God of my children - Melissa, Rachel and Jesse. They have all enriched my life and taught me many things! Melissa was only with us for a brief visit but packed a lifetime of memories and lessons into those short days, Rachel is always showing her love and her gentleness to others - she is a blessing to all that she meets! Jesse is our baby and he teaches us so many things too from a boy's perspective! Both of them are now teenagers but still love to snuggle with their mom, something that I treasure everyday! They both tell me everyday that they love me! I am truly blessed.

Hi all yes it my intention to hit 60 running.
running for health, by walking, swimming, generally keeping active and independent.
Yes I do a lot more exercise than just a few months ago.
my life is much more active and fullfilling and i seem to be able to fit more in a day.
the couch and the dogs sitting on it see me much less these days.
i used to think my few steps from the car while the dogs ran around was exercise
but now i see the real picture.
some days i ache and climbing the stairs can be an effort.
after sitting i creek some getting up and getting moving.
but how much easier it is and is going to get as i progress and make this a lifestyle.
the 500ml bottles were a great idea. i count 250ml as a glass and 8 250ml a day is easy
now. it's like an auto pilot for me as i sit doing spark. or after exercising.
bit of a rebel regarding the food but as long as i keep tracking i'm aware of my patterns.
and i'm learning all the calories of different foods and considering their contents and
nutritional value.
i sense my metabolism is changing some and i seem to be continuing to shape up and
trim down. although i don't weigh my clothes are getting looser as the weeks pass.
and hey i'm feeling fitter all round so healthy body healthy mind.
thank you for all your encouragement. making friends here as well now.
have a great weekend. off to 40th aniversary party tonight can't wait.

May God bless us for the privilege of standing in a circle of Your love and the Gift of Jesus.

Give God all the praise, glory and honor!

1. Jesus, The Good Shepherd!
A. John has shown us two portraits of Jesus in John 10:6-10, (His Personality, and His Performance)..
B. Now John shows a third portrait of Jesus: His Promise (Vs 9-10).
1. We need to understand that a thief is a threat to the sheep (Vs 10): to steal, to kill and to destroy.
2. The thief does care about the welfare of the sheep. He only wants to use it for his own personal gain.
3. Jesus, on the other hand , came so that the sheep may experience a life that is full and meaningful.
4. Because Jesus cares about His sheep, He promises them a new and better life in Himself.
2. PICTURE THIS: The story of the parable “The Lost Sheep” is recorded for us in Matt 18:12-13. Jesus asked “How think ye? If a man have a hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? And so be it that if he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray”. The shepherd cares and the sheep reap the benefits of life. The difference between a life that is lived for the devil and one that is lived for Jesus is the promise of a better eternal life (Eph 2:4-5). What story will your life reveal?

TODAY’S HYMN By Alexcenah Thomas & W. A Ogden (1985)

“Hark! Tis The Shepherd’s Voice”

1. Hark! Tis the Shepherd’s voice I hear, Out in the desert dark and drear,
Calling the lambs who’ve gone astray, Far from the Shepherd’s fold away. REFRAIN

2. Out in the desert hear their dry, Out on the mountain wild and high;
Harl! Tis the Master speaks to thee: “Go find my lambs where-e’er they be. REFRAIN

REFRAIN: Bring them in, Bring them in, Bring them in, from the fields of sin!
Bring them in, Bring them in, Bring them in, Bring the little ones to Jesus.

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all Thy wondrous works.26:7 [KJVB]

Hebrews 6:10
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

What a great reward! Robin had never looked so good. All her months of dieting paid off royally. It was beautiful to see the expressions on people's faces when they saw her. She couldn't wait to go out to show herself off. God had certainly blessed her through the rough time of dieting. There were days when she decided it just wasn't worth it. Now, she could hardly believe she ever had doubts. Looking in the mirror, she even surprised herself. She never thought she'd look this good. When we dedicate ourselves to doing things that are right and good to do, God is sure to bless us and reward us for our labors.

Today's thought: Improvement comes with practice. I can even get good at dieting!

Sometimes we can learn the most from children. Take the example of 4 year old David below. =)
A nurse on the pediatric ward, before listening to the little ones' chests, would plug the stethoscope into their ears and let them listen to their own heart.
Their eyes would always light up with awe, but she never got a response equal to four-year old David's comment.
Gently she tucked the stethoscope into his ears and placed the disk over his heart.
"Listen," she said... "What do you suppose that is?"
He drew his eyebrows together in a puzzled line and looked up as if lost in the mystery of the strange tap - tap - tapping deep in his chest.
Then his face broke out in a wondrous grin and he asked,
"Is that Jesus knocking?"

I am so thankful that I have the best husband in the world! And here starts my month of thankfulness! Today while I was working on my algebra paper, my sweet husband made us hot chocolate for on this cool day!
I am now enjoying my coffee with cool whip before starting my 2 hour drive to work! He has put my packed bag in my truck which he washed earlier today! Yep! I am blessed!

Hello God, I called tonight
To talk a little while
I need a friend who'll listen
To my anxiety and trial.
You see, I can't quite make it
Through a day just on my own...
I need your love to guide me,
So I'll never feel alone.
I want to ask you please to keep,
My family safe and sound.
Come and fill their lives with confidence
For whatever fate they're bound.
Give me faith, dear God, to face
Each hour throughout the day,
And not to worry over things
I can't change in any way.
I thank you God, for being home
And listening to my call,
For giving me such good advice
When I stumble and fall.. !!!!!!!
Your number, God, is the only one
That answers every time.
I never get a busy signal,
Never had to pay a dime.
So thank you, God, for listening
To my troubles and my sorrow.
Good night, God, I love You, too,
And I'll call again tomorrow!

Finally, I've made the decision to stop hiding behind excuses. After being on diet rollercoasters all my life, I've come to the conclusion that only I have the power to control my destiny. The late night snack doesn't have the power. The cold, sugary drinkers from the vending machine don't have that power. My mother's "comfort" food doesn't have that power. Long days at school doesn't have any power. Quick snacks don't have the power. Skinny people around me don't have the power. I HAVE THE POWER to make all the choices necessary to succeed.

I've been on SP before, and I've lost some weight (nothing major) and I fell off after the holidays. Well, this time, I'm here before the holidays, ready to make a difference. I went on the school yesterday evening and saw the largest number I've ever seen in my life. Granted, it was the evening and a few extra pounds were added on, but it was still a number I sincerely never thought I'd see. I felt sad. Disappointed. Fearful. Insecure. Fat.

I never want to feel those ways again.

November 1 - Decemeber 1 is a month dedicated to losing 15 pounds. Every month, I will set a goal. This month (of November) is a 15 pound goal I really want to hit. It will push me to go further and furher each month on my journey of weight loss. I will weigh myself every Saturday, but I will not have a certain number of pounds I want to lose in mind. I know I want to lose 15 pounds in one month, but the pounds might fluncuate each week. That's ok. I'll be at the gym tonight, hoping to get my exercise back in routine.
To all the people who have helped me stay motivated last year here on SP, thank you. I hope you will all continue to help me on my weight loss journey, as I need to stay positive for my own health.
Live, laugh, & lose

And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8 (KJV)

Dear LORD,
How often we forget the goodness of the LORD! After looking to you for blessings, we become complacent and self-centered. We cater to ourselves and become disobedient to the instructions of your word. We might even become idolatrous and enemies of God. Still you have already gone before us to prepare the way for us. Help us to be faithful to remember what you have done for us and the promises you have made to us. For myself, I want to keep pace with you without being afraid, depressed, or cowardly. I don’t want to allow myself to indulge in discouragement. Help me to walk in the full knowledge that you will never fail me nor abandon me. LORD as some of our spiritual leaders, parents, or other mentors grow old, or pass away, we find ourselves no longer under their intercessory prayers. It is time for us to pick up the baton and become prayer intercessors for our nation, our family, our world. It is time for us to guide others as you lead us and walk beside us. Help us to be fearless. Thank you for not abandoning your children.
In Jesus’ name,

May God bless us so someone will give us a better understanding of Jesus today.

Let’s give God all the glory and praise!

A DAILY SPIRITUAL OASIS 11/2/2011 By God's Family Team

“Jesus, The Light Of The World”

1. In John 10:6-8, John shows us Jesus’ Personality; today, in Vs 9, John is going to show Jesus’ Performance.
A. Jesus tells us clearly that He alone is the DOOR into God’s eternal salvation.
B. He promises that those who enter through Him will be saved.
C. Salvation in Christ Jesus will rescue us from the wrath of God.
D. Instead, we will experience the fullness of God’s love and perfect salvation.
2. PICTURE THIS: What does it mean to be “save”? It means to be rescued from all harm, danger, and eternal death. When we come to Jesus and are born again in Him and through Him, we are delivered from the awesome wrath of Almighty God that will be brought upon all who are not in Christ (John 5:24; Rom 5:9). To be eternally saved and free from the fear of dying and ending up in hell, is the greatest gift we can receive. I am grateful for my salvation in Jesus? How about you?

TODAY’S HYMN By Clara H. Scott (1895)
“Open My Eyes, That I May See”

1. Open my eyes, that I may see, Glimpse of the truth Thou has for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key, That shall unclasp, and set me free. REFRAIN

2. Open my ears, that I may hear, Voices of truth thou sendest clear;
And while the wave notes fall on my ear, Ev’rything false will disappear. REFRAIN

3. Open my mouth, and let me bear, Gladly the warm truth ev;rywhere;
Opem my heart and let me prepare, Love with Thy children thus to share. REFRAIN

REFRAIN: Silently now I wait for Thee, Ready my God, Thy will to see;
( 1st Vs) Open my eyes, Illumine me, Savior divine.
( 2nd Vs) “ “ ears, “ “ “ “ .
( 3rd Vs) “ “ heart, “ “ “ “ .

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 1 Corinthians 12:7(KJV)

Dear LORD,

Thank you for your Holy Spirit. Open my eyes and give me a heart of understanding of the gifts you have given to me. Your gifts were given for instruction, enlightenment, and improvement—morally and intellectually. Your gifts are available at just the right time and for specific purposes. Help me not to abuse what you have given to me, but to use such gifts in a way that would bless others and edify “me”. Most of all help me to be obedient to you in using your gifts as a witness of the Holy Spirit working in my life. Help me not to forget the most important ingredient: “love.” Without love, the exercise of any of these gifts would be meaningless, perhaps even harmful. Your gifts are given to equip “the saints.” Help me to remember the purpose and the attitude of heart in exercising that which you have given to me.

In Jesus’ name,

What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall He teach in the way that he shall choose. Psalm 25:12 {KJVB}

work tonight then off until next tuesday.
going to a 40th wedding aniversary on friday night and looking forward to celebrating
with the happy couple.
it's amazing to be in this postion where our friends are in thier sixties and 40 years married.
age affects people so differently
there's never a norm.
it's sereal to think of approaching 60 when personally i feel so young and fit
regained energy drinking water and walking and swimming.
spending positive time with people.
so many people associate age with illness and disability.
retirement and almost giving up.
because this year has been such a boost of fitness and weight loss
i am experiencing the posibilities and not the losses.
55yrs has been a good year for me.
and i see many here older and even fitter than me which is so inspiring.

I live in New Zealand now. Not England.

I have read ''The Spark''. The truth is, I am a dieter. I am an all or nothing sort of person. Apparently, if I ever want to experiance success, in the long term, I will have to learn to embrace my mistakes and learn from them, rather than throwing in the towel when I do something wrong.

According to The Spark, it is better to make a few small goals/sparks that are easily achieved, rather than a big list of harder tasks. I had about 20-30 on my original list! I don't like throwing things away, so I wrote all of my original goals on a piece of paper, to tuck in a folder somewhere. I have made some new goals.

My new sparkstreak goals
1. Eat three pieces of fruit a day
2. Drink three glasses of water a day
3. Track everyday
4. Do ten minutes of exercise

And... thats it! I feel like a loser, having such small goals and ambitions. It just isn't me. As the book said, doing small things everyday is better because you have no excuse for not doing them, and often when you do one small thing, you are ''sparked'' to do bigger things. For example, you finish your ten minutes of exercise, and decide to keep going. Great! It also means if you have an exam or something, you have no excuse for not doing exercise, because you can easily fit it in during one of your breaks, instead of giving up your whole exercise regime and having to start from scratch.

I think I've finally got it.

My weight loss has been going slow i need to crack down and start eating less exercise more ,keep track of what i eat .i want to lose 10 pounds this month!

May God bless us and help us to remember that better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof.

Give God all the glory! In Christ, Members of God’s Family Team
