A. What credentials did Jesus have to prove He was The GOOD SHEPHERD and that He came into the world in the right manner.
1. He had been virgin born (Isa 7:14; Matt 1:21-23).
2. He had been born in Bethlehem ( Micah 5:2; Matt 2:4-6).
3. He had come in the fullness of time (Gen 49:10; Gal 4:4).
4. He had been brought out of Egypt (Hos11:1; Matt 2:14-15).
5. His arrival had provoked the rage of the enemy (Jer 31:15; Matt 2:16-18).
B. Jesus uses the imagery of the “sheepfold” to illustrate His message.
1. A “sheepfold” was a circular wall, about 10 feet tall, with a single opening that served as a door.
2. Several flocks might be placed into the sheepfold at night, with one shepherd placed in the opening to serve as a door.
3. Nothing could get in or out without having to go through the shepherd.
4. Jesus is telling his audience that thieves and robbers enter the sheepfold by another means besides the door, but the SHEPHERD always comes in the right way….through the door.
5. The sheep also comes in and out through the door.
2. PICTURE THIS: CATTLE ARE DRIVEN, BUT SHEEP ARE LED! Jesus was GOD during His earthly life and ministry. His dependence and relationship upon the power of the Holy Spirit was evident in his humiliation in the incarnation and in the crucifixion. Still, He possessed all the credentials to prove He was THE GOOD SHEPHERD (Luke 4:18-19). John the Baptist revealed Jesus in John 1:29, “Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world”. The Lamb of God was used for sacrifice in the Passover. What credentials have you as a Christians? Are you in the fold of His sheep? Have you entered through the right door?

TODAY’S HYMN By Dorothy Thrupp (1836) and William B. Bradbury (1859)
“Savior, Like A Shepherd Lead Us”

1. Savior, like a shepherd lead us : Much we need Thy tenderest care;
In Thy pleasant pasture feed us, For our use Thy fold prepare;
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus, Thou hast bought us Thine we are;
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus, Thou hast bought us Thine we are.

2. We are Thine; do Thou befriend us, Be the Guardian of our way;
Keep thy flock, from sin defend us, Seek us when we go astray;
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus, Hear, O hear us when we pray;
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus, Hear, O hear us when we pray.

3. Thou has promised to receive us, Poor and sinful tho we be;
Thou has mercy to relieve us, Grace to cleanse, and power to free;
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus, Early let us come to Thee;
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus, Early let us come to Thee.

4. Early let us seek Thy favor, Early let us do Thy will;
Blessed Lord and only Savior, With Thy love our bosoms fill;
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus, Thou hast loved us, love us still;
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus, Thou hast loved us, love us still.

For the kingdom is the LORD'S and He is the Governor among the nations. Psalm 22:28 {KJVB}

Most Holy Father! What a wondrous God You are to love us and to show us how to love one another. Enable us to have no unfinished business when we approach Your throne of grace. Let Your word fill us with Your goodness and bring us ultimate joy. Help us to love family, friends, co-workers, fellow Christians, neighbors, strangers and even our enemy. As You have loved us, let us also love in the same way and with the same measure. May we love and live our lives in such a way that we will be fruitful and bring glory and honor and praise to You our God. This we pray and ask in Jesus' glorious name, Amen!

May God bless us and help us to bring all our doubts to Him, so He can renew our faith in return and help us grow in our love.

Dear LORD,

we're not feeling very “holy” this morning and we're glad that our feelings have nothing to do with Your faithfulness. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Please do a work in us that goes beyond our feelings. Make us whole again and help us to be without blame in Your eyes. You alone can make this happen. Heal our heart and protect us in the decisions that we must make. Protect the relationships that are in our life. Hold us up because we need Your strength. Help us not to cave in to destructive thinking or behaviors. No matter what comes our way, life goes on and we pray that You will help us to live a life that is abundant in Your mercies and grace. Give us wisdom for today. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!

Ye that fear the LORD, praise Him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify Him; and fear Him, all ye the seed of Israel. Psalm 22:23 {KJVB}

Hebrews 12:12
Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees.

Monica hated evenings that she had to spend alone. When she was with friends, she felt so much stronger. She put forth all her energy to have a good time when she went out. On the nights she stayed home, however, she just didn't have the strength to put on a happy front. Dieting was so much more difficult without help from friends. It is good to know that God is ever with us. On those occasions when there is no one around to help us, we can turn to God for strength and endurance. He helps us pick ourselves up and con-tinue on our way. He strengthens feeble knees and lifts hands that hang down.

Today's thought: My energy comes from a source other than food!

1. We now move into Room #10 in John’s Gallery, and the center portrait depicts JESUS, THE GOOD SHEPHERD (John 10:1-16).
A. Two men, who were friends, we called to recite the Twenty-third Psalm.
1. The first man was a published orator, trained in speech and drama.
a. He spoke the psalm in a powerful way.
b. When he finished, the audience cheered him and wanted to hear his voice again.
2. The other man, who was much older, spoke the Psalm also.
a. When he finished no sound came from the audience.
b. People sat quietly in a deep mood of devotion and prayer.
3. The first man stood up and spoke, “The difference between what you have just heard from my old friend and me is: “I know the Psalm; My friend knows THE SHEPHERD”.
B. Of all the portraits John paints in his wonderful gospel, the most descriptive image of Jesus is that of THE GOOD SHEPHERD.
2. PICTURE THIS: In the near East, several flocks of sheep may be pasturing in one field at any given time. Only a shepherd’s own sheep know the shepherd’s voice and will follow him out of that fold. Cattle can be driven , but sheep are led. Jesus reveals in this chapter, His love for sinners and His plan for dealing with sin. The question is: Do I really know the GOOD SHEPHERD?

TODAY’S HYMN: By Dennis L. Jernigan (1988)

1. I am a sheep and the Lord is my Shepherd, Watching over my soul!
My soul to keep guarding over me ever, Watching wherever I go! REFRAIN

2. We are His children and He is our Father, Watching over our soul!
Great is His love for His sons and his daughters, Watching wherever we go. REFRAIN

REFRAIN: And when the winds blow, He is my shelter!
And when I’m lost and alone, He rescue me!
And when the Lion comes, He is my victory!
Constantly watching over me!
He is constantly watching over me!

May God bless us and help us to know where He needs us, and has already counted us in, for the work ahead.

    Thank you for this message and devotion. So often we look to people for affirmation and approval instead of God, I know sometimes I feel lonely by myself
but I'm not really alone when God is there all the time. And like the song says He is watching over me.

A. In John 9:5, Jesus is a shining light.
1. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world”.
2. Jesus was and is in the business of delivering men from darkness.
B. In Vs 35, Jesus is a seeking light.
1. After the man had been cast out by the Jews, Jesus went looking for him.
2. This is why he came; “to seek and save that which was lost”. (Luke 19:10)
C. In Vs 38, Jesus is a saving light.
1. The man received more than physical sight.
2. Jesus gave him eternal life.
2. PICTURE THIS: God is able to complete the good work of eternal life (Phil 1:6). The man never expected that he would be healed and saved when he got up that morning. To him, it was just another day of living in darkness. He did not realize that there was a man named Jesus. Until the man came face to face with Jesus, not by sight but by faith, he had to live in darkness; but now the man was healed, even though all he knew was the name of Jesus. He soon learned more than just the name of Jesus and received the gift of God: ETERNAL LIFE! Which would you prefer: DARKNESS or LIGHT? 1 John 1:7 teaches us, “But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son purifies us from all sin”.

TODAY’S HYMN: By Jessie B. Pounds and Charles H. Gabriel (1906)
“The Way Of The Cross”

1. I must need go home by the way of the cross; There’s no other way but this;
I shall ne’er get sight of the Gates of Light if the way of the cross I miss. REFRAIN
2. I must needs go on in the blood sprinkled way, The path that the Savior trod;
If I ever climb to the heights sublime, Where the soul is at home with God. REFRAIN
3. Then I bid farewell to the way of the world, To walk in it never more;
For my Lord says “Come”, and I seek my home, Where He waits at the open door. REFRAIN
REFRAIN: The way of the cross leads home,
The way of the cross leads home;
It is good to know, as I onward go,
The way of the cross leads home.

For Thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: Thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head. Psalm 21:3

Attention is a tangible measure of love. Whatever receives our time and attention becomes the center of gravity, the focus of our life. This is what we do with what we love: We allow it to become our center. What is at the center of your life? Carefully examine where you spend your attention, your time. Look at your appointment book, your daily schedule...this is what receives your care and attention--and by definition, your love.

- Wayne Muller

1 Peter 4:1-2
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

Barney knew he could lose weight. He'd given up cigarettes, and that was the hardest thing he'd ever had to do. If he could do away with cigarettes, he was positive he could lose weight. A friend had once told him that if he was suffering, he knew he was on the right track. Nothing worth doing came easy. Barney asked God for strength as he set about losing weight. When he felt he was suffering the most, that's when he relied most heavily on God. A little suffering never hurt anyone, especially when it was done in order to attain good health.

Today's thought: I suffer now so that I can enjoy the rest of my life!

James 4:3, "Ye ask and receive not, because ye asked amiss, that ye may consume it upon your pleasure".

Most Holy Father, God of heaven and earth. Teach us to rest assured by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Let not our hearts be troubled. The disciples were troubled when You told them You were going away. The thought of Your departure disturbed them and frighten them. So it is with us when a love one or a dear friend goes away. We fail to see the good that may come from it, not realizing that when You take something away, it is because You will replace it with something better. You have gone ahead to prepare a room for us. Help us to believe in your promises. Help us to believe in You! Enable our trust in You to sustain us through whatever comes until someday, we too, will know and experience what we believe. These things we pray in the name of "THE COMING ONE" Jesus, Amen!

May God bless us and help us to remember the greatness and beauty of God’s gift of Eternal Life.

Matthew 11:29-30
'Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.'

The most impressive thing about Laura was that no one realized she was on her diet. She never complained. She never made a big deal about what she could and couldn't eat. She never whined around or moped, hoping someone would ask her what was the matter. She just quietly, patiently lost weight. The rest of the women in the office were astonished. Laura made it seem so easy. Laura just smiled at all their comments, content to know that God had rallied her spirits and helped her get by.

Today's thought: During my diet, I'll smile even when I feel like crying!

Some trust chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. Psalm 20:7 {KJVB}

My right hand man:
Usually refers to a person who is there
to support serve and help.
The one you rely on.
Recently my 500ml bottle of water has become just that:
always there being refilled with tap water,
not too chilled, uk; it's a bit cold here;
endless supply clean and refreshing.
It's becoming a habit;
take a few swigs.
I just can't believe it,
that blech, freezing unfriendly sloshy water has at last become my friend.
Enjoyable just sip it without thinking right hand man.
Make it your friend; it's a great healthy habit.
It's taken me 4 months to find the right formula for me.
and suddenly it just happened.

Hi Team,
Between jet lag and a conference this past weekend, I am still dragging my heals.
Went to doctor on Friday for my flu shot and I had gained while on vacation. I don't know how that happened since I was eating light and walking plenty. I keep hoping it is muscle weight verses fat weight.
Must get back to the gym.
I was really blessed at our women's conference. The leadership does so much to spoil all of us. They had a lot of draws for cute prizes. I seldom win anything. However my number was called to play the game, "Deal or No Deal". A representative from the travel agent was there due to the theme being "Life's a Trip." All the suitcases were small cardboard ones with the exception of one which was a large pink one.
The 1st 3 ladies chose the small ones and had a chance to change what was in the suitcase for $20.00 cash but they all chose the suitcase. When my turn came, I chose the pink suitcase, only because it is my grand-daughter's favorite color. Well I made the right choice. I got to keep the LARGE pull suitcase, plus inside was a neck warmer with a hood and pockets at the ends to keep the hands warm.
Then they pulled out a pink umbrella. I thought that was all. They the gal said, "Of course you get to keep the suitcase. And Oh! there is something else inside. Would you believe it was a $100.00 travel certificate.
Needless to say, I felt really blessed this weekend.
On top of all that blessing, the airlines gave us a $200.00 cred for misplacing our suitcase (which showed up the next day). We had to cross the board to retrieve it.
Also when I opened the missing bag, I found a note from my best friend which said, she didn't know when she would get out our way to visit so she gave us a cheque for $200.00 to help with the expense of our trip home.
When we decided to go home this time, we really couldn't afford to go but we knew we needed to go. I truly believe God was meeting our needs and I continually thank Him for His goodness to me and to the rest of my family.
God bless each of you.

1. Let’s listen in as the religious leaders questioned the “once blind” man. (John 9:13-38)
A. In Vs 17, they asked the man, “What sayest thou of him……?”
1. The man said Jesus was a prophet.
2. In other words, “He was a man to be listened to”.
3. The man listened to Jesus and that obedience resulted in his healing.
B. In Vs 18-34, they asked the man, “How open he thine eyes?” (Vs 26)
1. The man replied, “I have told you already, but ye did not hear….”. (Vs 27).
2. They reviled the man and accused him of being a disciple. (Vs 28).
3. The said Jesus was a sinner, but a sinner cannot do the miracles that Jesus did. (Vs 31).
4. The man concluded that Jesus was a ”Man of God”. (Vs 33).
5. They cast the man out of the synagogue. (Vs 34).
C. In Vs 35-38, Jesus finds the man and comes to him.
1. Jesus reveals His true identity.
2. Jesus asked the man, “Does thou believe on the Son of Man (The Son of God)?” (Vs 35).
3. The man asked Jesus, “Who is He, Lord, that I might believe on him?” (Vs 36)
4. Jesus replied in Vs 37, “ Thou has both seen Him, and it is He that talked with thee.”
5. The man answered, “Lord, I believed”, and the man worshipped Him (Vs 38).
2. PICTURE THIS: This is the same conclusion each one of us has to make before we can be saved. Either we believe, obey and do what He says, or we will not hear what He says to us. If we do not believe, obey and do what He says, we are most miserable and on our way to hell already (1 Cor 15:17-19). Have you reached that place of conclusion today? Are you hearing Him?

TODAY’S HYMN: By Mylon R. Lefevre (1963)
1. Without Him I could do nothing; Without Him I’d surely fail.
Without Him I would be drifting, Like a ship without a sail. REFRAIN
2. Without Him I would be dying; Without Him I’d be enslaved.
Without Him Life would be hopeless, But with Jesus, thank God, I’m saved. REFRAIN
Jesus, Oh Jesus, Do you know Him today? You can’t turn Him away.
Oh, Jesus! Oh Jesus! Without Him, how lost I would be!

May God Bless us so we can know the yearnings of our heats, and express them clearly to His glory.

Wow! I have been on Sparkpeople for 55 days. It has been a learning experience for me. I have found some useful articles.

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. Psalm 19:9 [KJVB]

Steen went back into hospital a week ago today after being out for 2 weeks and 2 days. Its his gall bladder this time. there are other problems but I won't go into it. I am going to be getting some help for when he comes home as he needs help around the clock.

"God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye..may abound to every good work"
-2 Corinthians 9:8

I place this day in your care, O God, thanking you for the blessed assurance that Jesus is mine.

“Jesus , The Light of The World”

1. John, who has shown us the MISERY of A SIGHTLESS MAN, is now ready to show us THE MINISTRY OF A SOVEREIGN MASTER:
A. When Jesus passed by, the sightless man was forever changed (John 9:11-38).
1. Jesus healed him physically, by making clay of the spittle, anointing the man’s eyes with the clay, and telling him to go wash in the pool of Siloam (John 9:6-7).
2. When asked in Vs 10, “How were your eyes opened?” He answered in Vs 11, “A man called Jesus made clay, anointed my eyes, told me to go wash; I went and washed and received sight”.
B. When Jesus comes to a sinner in convicting power, He cause irritation of the heart and soul.
1. After the man was exposed to physical light, he was lead through a series of events that brought him face to face with who Jesus really was.
2. When people asked the man who healed him, all the man knew was that it was a man named Jesus.
3. There are some people today in the same situation .
4. Just knowing a little about Jesus or being able to speak His name is not enough to save them.
2. PICTURE THIS: Jesus healed the sightless man on the Sabbath. Some said, “This man is not God because he does not keep the Sabbath day” (Vs 16). Had they forgotten that He was the Creator and Lord of the Sabbath? Other said, “How can this man who is a sinner do such miracles, (Vs 16)“? They knew the answer: “ONLY GOD CAN DO SUCH MIRACLES! There was division among them. Are you divided as to the truth of God, that Jesus is God (John 1:1)? Do you try to live your life under Old Testament Law or under New Testament Law?

TODAY’S HYMN: By Charles H. Gabriel (1890)

1. There’s a call comes ringing o’er the restless wave: Send the light! Send the light!
There are souls to rescue, there are souls to save: Send the light! Send The Light! REFRAIN
2. We have heard the Macedonian call today: Send the light! Send the light!
And a golden offering at the cross we lay: Send the light! Send the light! REFRAIN
3. Let us pray that grace may everywhere abound: Send the light! Send the light!
And a Christ-like spirit everywhere be found: Send the light! Send the light! REFRAIN
4. Let us not grow weary in the work of love: Send the light! Send the light!
Let us gather jewels for a crown above: Send the light! Send the light! REFRAIN
Send the light! The blessed gospel light; Let it shine from shore to shore!
Send the light! The blessed gospel light; Let it shine, forevermore.

Most Holy Father, Almighty God! We are Your gift to this sightless world, bringing the good news of Jesus, poking holes of light in the darkness of this sinful world. But how can we be helpful to them if we ourselves are sightless and living in darkness? We need Jesus! We need first His light in us that we may shine as His light for we have no light outside of Jesus. You have given us Your Son, Jesus Christ, whom we have received with joy, We have received His Word and have believed it. Now send us into the sightless world, a world which You created and loved, so that others may also receive and believe that Jesus is the Christ, and they may also live forever. It's in His name that we pray, Amen!

May God bless us and help us to remember that when our problems get to be too much for us, He is always waiting on the other end of the line to pull us though.
