1 Peter 5:10
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

Cliff felt content. He felt good about the diet. He knew it was time to do something, so it didn't feel like such a great struggle. He prayed for God's help, and he felt God's presence with him. Sure, there would be unpleasantness, as there was whenever a sacrifice was involved, but it would all be well worth it. The prospect of being healthy and trim was very appealing to him. Cliff had confidence that God would bless him with strength, courage, and peace. With that kind of assurance, how could he go wrong?

Today's thought: If God will give me everything I really need, how can I help but lose weight?

As for God His way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: He is a buckler to all those that trust in Him. Psalm 18:30 {KJVB}

My sense of togetherness has grown here at sp.
amongst the bloggers who have faithfully met with me on good days and bad.
sharing their journey sharing mine as we blog.
it's about the common desire to be more healthy.
in whatever way that manifests itself at the end of the day we want to look after
ourselves properly.
maybe it's exercise, maybe dietry, lack of water, lack of sleep but at the end of the day
it's about health.
i am certianly getting healthier little by little day by day.
and sharing with others has helped.
i see your victories and stumbles and it helps me to grow and learn.
it helps me be positive on good days and tenacious to start again on bad days.
there's an acceptance and a sense of loyalty as we climb, and walk, and munch
and wash it all down with a drop of water.
eating around the family table together here at SP.

"Most Holy Father, Loving God! We haven't seen nothing yet! If we were to spend all our time analyzing your creation with a powerful telescope; if we could shine a light through the lenses to try and determine the lengths, width, and depths of your glory; if we could examine the the spacing and order of all things between time; we would have a jaw-dropping experience and yet not know the secrets of Life and the Power of Your might and glory. We do not need to debate the finer points of religious doctrine; nor the to sift through Jesus' pedigree; nor the latest messianic speculations of religion; all we need is to know, love. believe, obey and follow Jesus. Oh Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth. You have set Your glory in the heavens above, on the earth below, and in the hearts of believers.
May we be amazed always by Your Goodness, Your Love, Your Mercy, Your Forgiveness and Your Grace. We PRAISE YOU! We praise YOUR NAME!
And we THANK YOU FOR SENDING JESUS to be our light. This we pray in His WONDERFUL name, AMEN!'

1. As we walk into ROOM #9 in John's Galary, we see a portrait of Jesus and the MISERY OF A SIGHTLESS MAN!
a. The first thing we see is THE MAN'S BLINDNESS (John 9:1).
1. This man was born blind.
2. This man had lived his entire life, up to now, in total darkness.
3. But there is a blindness that is far worse than physical blindness.
5. This is where many in the world find themselves today (2 Cor 4:4).
2. PICTURE THIS: The "lost" of 2 Cor 4:3, are the unbelievers in Vs 4. Satan is the "god of the world" who blinds the minds of those which believe not the "Light of the glorious gospel of Christ". Jesus is the LIGHT OF THE WORLD, who was sent to bring us "the light of the glorious gospel of Christ. He who has not received and accepted the Light of the World, is blinded by Satan so they cannot see the truth; they are unbelieving and lost; they live in darkness and shall die in darkness. Where are you standing? In the LIGHT or in darkness?

TODAY'S HYMN: By Graham Kendrick (1988)

1. Lord, the light of Your love is shining, In the midst of the darkness, shining;
Jesus, Light of the World, shine upon us, Set us free by the truth You now bring us, Shine on me, Shine on me. REFRAIN
2. Lord, I come to Your awesome presence, From the shadows into Your radiance,
By the blood I may enter Your brightness, Search me, try me, consume all my darkness, Shine on me, Shine on me. REFRAIN
REFRAIN: Shine, Jesus shine, fill this land with the Father's glory, Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire. Flow river, flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy, Send forth Your Word, Lord, and let there be light!

Thank You, each and everyone one of you for your encouraging comments and your input to this team blog. Thank You!

May the Lord bless us and be with us wherever we are, even if we have to look closer to find Him and so we can get closer to Him.

Thank-you for your wonderful blessings in your words and beautiful heart for God. I stand in awe of God's mercy, grace and love and can only imagine the sacrifice he made by giving his only son to die on the cross for our sins.

In this world of craziness, uncertainty, sadness and sorrow - I am so grateful that God is the alpha and the omega of my existence. Thank-you for reminding me everyday of God's amazing love.

As much as I just want to quit school and start over, to try and figure out this thing that is going on and solve it, and just plain quit, I can't. I saw this quote yesterday..."Pain is nothing compared to what it feels like to quit!" So, as much as I can't see me making it, I can't quit. So, I have to just do the best I can and focus on the fact that the pain of quitting would have been worse.

Lord, please grant me strength, give me desire, and lift me up in Spirit.

Splashing dipping diving wet.
Now i'm in it's hard to forget
that refreshing ebb of sparkling spray
racing chilling as we play
lengths and breaths and
over arm breast stroke
a mixture of effort and relaxing
weightless in the water
tread extra pounds
toning slimming vibrant.
swimming again and again.
sounds of fun as everyone
gets what they want
out of 30 minutes leisure
and 30 minutes pleasure
dipping into the pool
dipping into the sea.
in the water we can be free.

Dear LORD,

We are thankful and counting on You to keep us strong—that you’ll continue working on us until the day that Your Son, and our Lord Jesus Christ comes back for us. One day your work will finally be finished. We are letting our roots grow deep down into your truth and absorbing all of the nourishment we can gather. Our faith grows as we daily listen to your word and meditate upon the things You have taught us. It is by your grace that we will stand before our Heavenly Father strong, blameless, and holy. It is only because of your Son that we have any hope for tomorrow. Make us holy in every way. We pray that our bodies and souls will be kept blameless until the day your Son returns for us. He will come, and he will come as a flash of lightning, unexpectedly, and as a thief in the night. There will be no time to adjust our attitude or make changes in our life decisions. As we go about our daily business, help us to be mindful of His soon return and aware of your keeping power. We wait eagerly for your return, Lord Jesus. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!

As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with Thy likeness. Psalm 17:15 {KJVB}

We ordered and received SPARKPEOPLE COOKBOOK By Meg Galvin, and we loved it so much, that my wife and I have oredered 7 more books to give as Xmas Gifts. Make sure to get your Book ordered.

1. AS WE ENTER ROOM 9 of John's Galary: Let take a look at the healing of a poor blind man In John 9:1-11.
a. Jesus came and accomplished many great things in this world, but His primary purpose was to punch great gaping holes in the spirtual darkness that shrouds the human soul.
b. In today's portrait, John shows us Jesus, The Light of the World.
2. PICTURE THIS: Robert Loui Stevenson, as a boy, watched the Lamplighter who went about with a ladder and a torch setting the street lights ablaze in the night. He cried out, "Look! There is a man out there punching holes in the darkness." This sums up the mission of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are like the stree lights standing in darkness, awaiting for Jesus to light up our life, to punch a hole in our darkness so the Light of The World may come in and take us out of that darkness. Where are you today? In darkness? Or, in the light?

TODAY'S HYMN: By H. J. Zelley and G. H. Cook (1899).

1. Walking in sunlight, all of my journey, Over the mountains, thru the deep vale; Jesus has said, "I'll never forswake thee", Promise divine that never can fail. REFRAIN
2. Shadows around me, shadows above me, Never conceal my Savior and Guide; He is the Light, in Him is no darkness, Ever I'm walking close to His side. REFRAIN
3. In the bright sunlight, ever rejoicing, Pressing my way to mansions above; Singing His parises, gladly I'm walking, Walking in sunshine, sunshine of love. REFRAIN

REFRAIN: Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight, Flooding my soul with glory divine; Hallelujah! I am rejoicing, Singing His praises, Jesus is mine.

May our Heavenly Father help us to remember that our real treasures are the gifts of the Spirit that we receive when we are living in Christ Jesus.

Everyone knew enough to stay out of Kevin's way when he was on a diet. The man became a raving lunatic. He couldn't get along with anybody. Connie felt he acted that way just to let everyone know he was on a diet. Then, when he gave up on it, nobody had the nerve to suggest he give it another try. It was his way of justifying not having to diet. Connie just wished he'd quit putting on such performances; it made everyone else miserable. Our diets need to be our business, unless we turn to others for help. We diet for the wrong reasons if all we want is sympathy or attention. God will give strength to those who are sincere, but He is unable to help those who really don't want help.

Today's thought: My diet will not become a burden to anyone else!

Lord, may you grant us peace. May your mercy and grace abound to us and may we always focus on you, your kingdom, and your glory. Father, we are broken people but in our brokeness we find you and your love and we know that our sinful ways are forgiven and we find comfort in knowing you. Please help us to focus on you, to know that your are a soverign God who desires relationship with us. Please help us to glorify you through our faithfulness to you and never ending thankfulness that you gave your only Son for our salvation. Thank you Lord. This we pray in Jesus' name, Amen!

LORD, who shall abide in Thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. Psalm 15:1-2 {KJVB]

Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth's rite of passage?

His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him and leaves him alone.

He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it.

He cannot cry out for help to anyone.

Once he survives the night, he is a MAN.

He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must come into manhood on his own.
The boy is naturally terrified. He can hear all kinds of noises. Wild beasts must surely be all around him.
Maybe even some human might do him harm. The wind blew the grass and earth, and shook his stump, but he sat stoically never removing the blindfold.
It would be the only way he could become a man!
Finally, after a horrific night the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold.
It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the stump next to him.
He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm.
We, too, are never alone.
Even when we don't know it, God is watching over us.
Sitting on the stump beside us. When trouble comes, all we have to do is reach out to Him.
Moral of the story: Just because you can't see God, doesn't mean He is no there.
"For we walk by faith, not by sight."

Keeping up with re-establishing good habits of logging my food, and making good nutrition choices. My exercise has been there but have been taking in more than I burn off through some poor choices for snacks, and basically not logging in and keeping myself accountable. It's also been tough to be the only one in the household trying to eat healthy.
The one thing that stands out for me is buying a pint of non-dairy ice cream and eating it in the 4 separate servings that it shows on the package. Usually it all goes in one sitting, or someone else eats the rest in one sitting - kind of why I buy the soy or coconut ice cream - no one else will touch it.
It has been about 10 days where I have been under max fat, max calories, below 2000 sodium, below 100 cholesterol (except for today with the one-egg/two whites omelet), and generally hitting all the marks that I am trying to hit.
I hope to keep it going up through my physical next month and beyond, including the holidays, though I don't intend to deprive myself...

This just in from sparkerfriend i have ordred the new cookboook i was able to see a copy of the blok at the place I work at the librarian ordred the book I was the first one to check the book out i was soo impressed with the book.
(PS) I have ordered mine; have you ordered yours? God Bless, Vic.

May God bless us and help us to remember all those who have had a bad dat today, and also those who have had a good day.

Peak efficiency: That is what God intended for the human body. The human body is an intricate, delicate, but powerful machine; finely crafted, and capable of amazing feats. The only way the body can work properly, the way God intended, is when we take good care of it. It should not be burdened with excessive weight, nor should it be abused by improper diet. If we will endeavor to take good care of our bodies, we will experience the joy of living the way God intended for us all.

Today's thought: I am a marvelous creation of God, worth taking care of!

It is God that girdeth me with stength, and maketh my way perfect. Psalm 18:32 {KJVB}

Sure, I am older and things will never be the same but I am the guy who caused all this! At somewhat over 300 pounds even if I want to I can't. I can't be quick, I can't jump, running will be a labor and unorthodox, and worst of all...death is closer. I have to make a change! I need to go to the playground more often so I am always reminded at just how bad I have let things get and it's not OK. I can't just keep living in the visual image I have of myself and instead need to see myself in reality.

I can, however, take solace in the fact that IT IS CHANGEABLE! I can get to a happy place! I can get to where my mental image of myself matches the reality image of myself...AND I WILL!

1. John shows us in John 8:9-11 that sin will wreck a sinner’s life, but Jesus, the ultimate Judge, can replace it with a new life.
a. In Vs 9-10, Jesus faces the sinful woman.
1. She had reached a point in her life where it was just her and Jesus.
2. We will all either receive Jesus at one of life’s encounters, or we will face Him on judgment day.
b. In Vs 11, Jesus forgave the sinful woman.
1. Religious men had condemned and considered her as good as dead.
2. Jesus saw something different: SOMEONE WORTHY OF HIS LOVE AND A NEW LIFE.
3. Jesus gave her two great blessings that day:
a. He gave her a NEW LORD in her life. She called Him, “LORD”.
b. He gave her a NEW LIFE! ----- “Go and sin no more”.
2. PICTURE THIS: In Luke 23:39-43, we find criminals being crucified with Jesus. One on Jesus’ right side and one on the left. One came face to face with Jesus in his final hours and Jesus blessed him; he called Jesus Lord, and Jesus promised him, “Today, shall thou be with me in paradise”. Must we face death before we turn to Jesus? As sinners, we are condemned to die! But Jesus can give us a new life, here and now, and in the life to come. He is the only one that can do it. Jesus can be your Savior or your Judge….Which shall it be?

Help us to be alert and quickly put an end to the things that pull us away from your strength. Your word calls these things immorality, impurity, passion, evil desires, and greed—idolatry. The upside of setting these things aside is your encouragement to be strong and courageous, not to be fearful, that You, our LORD and God, go before us, and that You will never fail us. Help us to be content in every situation where we find ourself. I know that You are all sufficient in everything. You are able to do far more abundantly than we could ever ask or imagine. You have given us power—power that has taken residence inside of us. Thank you for your reassurance that You are ABLE, and that means we are ABLE. Your grace is extravagant, and that means we will always have enough to carry us through. But it’s not all about us. You give us strength to do your work, to share your blessings with others, no matter what situation we are in. In our hour of greatest need, You are our supplier and You give us just exactly what we need. It is not for us to keep to ourself. Help us to pass on to others out of the abundance of your grace.

In Jesus’ name we pray and ask these things,

I am grateful to be a part of God's Family Team, to have a leadership role in the team, and to be able to share with each and everyone of you this blog. Thank you for your wonderful and encouraging comments, and especially your inputs that makes this blog possible. Give God the glory.

A DAILY SPIRITUAL OASIS (10/17/2011) By God's Family Team

Monday, October 17, 2011

Dear LORD,

Thank You for the promise of your grace. Help us not to become too focused upon and overwhelmed by our trials, our health, and decisions that we have to make. You are a loving God who wants us to bring our requests to You. We confess that we allow ourself to feel defeated when we don’t receive an answer to our prayers in the ways that we expect. It is hard to accept your silence. Although we try not to mentally focus on the “I don’t understand why” questions, we know from our physical and emotional responses that our body is in rebellion against waiting for your answer.

Help us to surrender all of our expectations and anxieties to You and rest in the promise of your grace, that being enough for us. Help us to be grateful for the trials that You allow so that You can show your strength in our life. LORD, when it is physically, emotionally, mentally, and physically impossible to accomplish something and we watch the You perform what we cannot do ourselves, it is a testimony to ourselves and to others.

“How do we express ourself in the center of our dilemma?” Your word says “Most gladly therefore will we rather glory in our infirmities…” We should be pleased and delighted that we are about to see your power rest upon us. Help us to look to your power. Help us to look beyond our sorrow and responsibilities that weigh heavily upon us. Help us to throw our troubles upon your back. ”

You have given us Your promises, and You have given us permission and authority to give You our burdens. We give You this heavy load and we wait to see your respond and your glory. We bow before You with grateful hearts.

In Jesus’ name we pray,

"IN the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul. Psalm 11:a {KJVB}"

The bible has a solemn warning to those who have heard the gospel and have not believe. Paul declared that when the Antichrist is revealed, it may be too late for a change of mind: The coming of the lawless one is according of the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will sent them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but has pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Corinthians 2:9-12 {NKJVB} Now is the time to make the decision to trust Jesus as Messiah. Tomorrow may be too late. "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" 2 Corinthians 6:2 {NNJVB}.

just to be able.
able to slip on my trainers and go for a real walk.
without fear of going as far as i want to and as fast as i want.
to dip in the pool and swim 30 minutes with ease.
to fit into clothes once tight.
to bend over and do my laces.
to enjoy good food and know i will still be losing some weight.
to enjoy a healthier life style.
how much better things are for me today than just 4 months ago.
and your all doing the same too.

John 19:11
Jesus answered, 'Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.'

How much easier our lives would be if we could quit fighting the fact that all power comes from God. We want control of our own lives, and we like to think we can stand on our own two feet. The reality of the matter is that we have received everything we have from the Lord. He has given us our abilities and talents, He has given us our resources, and He gives us our opportunities. The truly strong person is she who understands that God is the source of all power. If we want the power to diet, it can come to us only through the Lord God Almighty, who loves His children and offers them everything they need.

Today's thought: God is greater than my desire to eat!

TODAY'S HYMN By Alton H. Howard (1977)
(First verse)

1. He took my burdens all away, up to a brighter day,
He gave me a song........a wonderful song...........
A wonderful song I now can sing, In my heart joybells ring,
He gave me a song............a wonderful song.
He gave me a song.......to sing about,
He lifted me.........from sin and doubt;
Oh, praise His name........He is my King;
A wonderful song............He is to me.

"May God bless each and everyone of us as we lift our voice in praise and thanksgiving to Him everyday. IN HIS LOVE, Vic.
