I have a confession to make. I'm still having trouble with this 1/2 pound loss per week business!
I know, I know, I'm older now, my body has to adjust, I'm losing real pounds not just water, I'm building muscle, slow loss is a better loss, blah, blah, blah. Tell that to my sore muscles. Tell that to my grumbling stomach. Tell that to my cravings. I'm doing everything that I'm supposed to do, and this is all I get?! I wouldn't feel badly, if I fell off the wagon and this is all I'm losing, but I've been strictly faithful, following my plan and good health and fitness advice to a T and these losses are so slow and low! I'm going to keep on going, I'm not going to give up, but THIS SUCKS!

This is a new urban catch phrase. I usually don't like catch phrases too much, but this one really expresses how I feel right now. I'm not super happy, I'm not depressed. I'm not motivated, but I'm not unmotivated, I'm just here. I logged in, I'm tracking my food, reading articles, going to huddle with my teams, etc., etc.., basically just going through the motions. I've haven't exercised today, but I will later on today, and knowing me I will go at it full force, trying to make up for lost time. I know this is normal, I guess it's called the "blahs", probably the weather. It's just today I'm feeling some kinda way, and I'm a Sparker.

Somehow, I don't remember exactly, I got into the "Chasing Rudolph" Challenge. Up 'til now, I haven't joined challenges because, well, they were just too challenging. emoticon

Well, as I continued to exercise and walk, I saw the miles add up, and I got excited! Before I knew it, I had caught Rudolph! It feels good, and I know my body has benefited. Great!
So, maybe I'll enter more challenges! emoticon

A Sparker is a person who has tried several ways to lose weight and get in shape. Sometimes successful, sometimes not, but always giving it another try. A Sparker is someone who has heard a lot of the latest fads, diets, and news about weight loss and realizes that most of them don't work. A Sparker has tried quick weight loss diets, and has loss weight on them. Some Sparkers have gained all of it back and then some, and some have even kept most of it off. One heartbreaking thing that every Sparker knows is that you can stick to your diet and exercise plans for weeks and weeks and not lose a pound! But a Sparker doesn't give up, if they do they come back to the Spark! One thing a sparker knows for sure is that victory is not always in the scale, so he or she celebrates Non-Scale Victories also called NSVs.

A Sparker is someone who is constantly reaching beyond their limits and is willing to work out of their comfort zone. A Sparker e-mails, reads, comments, advises, blogs, and shares because a Sparker knows that one of the best ways to help yourself is to help someone else!

I recently saw a phrase that said, "You know you're a Sparker when..". At that time I could think of several ways to finish the sentence. This one made me even laugh aloud to myself. This actually happened to me!

"You know you're a Sparker when you read a fitness article in a magazine and look to see if you can get Spark Points at the end of it!"

Another phrase that I hear frequently (because I watch a lot of exercise infomercials) is, "If you had told me 90 days ago that I'd look like this..."

Well, here I am and I can say the same thing. When I started Spark People, I had high hopes and jumped in, so to speak with both feet. However, after weeks of being faithful to my water intake, diet, and exercise program, not much weight loss. (From my point of view). I hit a plateau, and I was very unhappy! I didn't backslide though, I just kept on going and suddenly one week several pounds came off!

So here I am saying this myself; "If you had told me two months ago that I would have so much energy, be off ALL of my meds, my clothes would fall down, have new online friends, read food labels religiously, prefer fruits and vegetables over sweets and baked goods, and so much more, I wouldn't have believed it"

All I can say now is, "Thank You, Spark People"
