Happy Birthday to Me!

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

Spark Friends,

I have to honestly say that this will be the most unique birthday that I've had so far. I have a testimony. I was born weighing 3 lbs. and 10 oz., and not expected to live one year, let alone 61 years! When it comes to healthy eating, I've finally got it! First of all, I will make a gift to a Feeding America. While I have over indulged for so long, many have been hungry. It's the least that I can do. Secondly, I have no plans to use this day as an excuse to "fall off the wagon". I will probably indulge in a small bite of birthday cake, but otherwise stick to my plan. And finally, yes I am working out today! What better way to honor this body that God gave me, than to move it and strengthen it? I should probably dance tonight, too! I am thankful and grateful for all things, this site, great friends, family, and health, and especially for seeing another year. So that's why I'm celebrating!

THE TOUCH (Just wanted to share)

Sunday, April 27, 2014

Hello Spark Friends,

As the the fat is coming off, my memory and creativity are coming back. I'd like to share one of my original poems I just ran across.

THE TOUCH

Velvety skin soft to the touch
He never imagined he'd love it so much
When he touched her hand

Surrounded by his drawn up to her face
Asking forever to share her space
He touched her hand

Lifting the ring with loving care
Trembling as he placed it there
He touched her hand

In the midst of her body swollen with love
Underneath his as they felt every move
He touched her hand

Watching his queen in the glow of the flame
Weep as their princess changed her name
He touched her hand

Placed on her chest in the final fold
Vowing he'd never consider it cold
For the last time
He touched her hand

Thanks for reading, emoticon!

I don't think it's wasteful!

Friday, April 25, 2014

Many believe that we should have a treat now and then. But what happens when your treat comes only in a large size can be disastrous. That happened to me, I bought it because I couldn't resist. So, I had a serving, and took the rest outside and put it in the dumpster! For many reasons, I had no other choice. I felt guilty, but not as guilty as I would have if I ate the whole thing! I'm okay now, and I didn't mess up too badly. Plus, it was on sale!

Two Thumbs Down!

Tuesday, April 22, 2014

As some of you may know, I was in a car accident last August where the tendons and muscles in my thumbs were quite injured by the air bag. I discovered Spark People while I was laid up. I try to surf the net to learn new things and take my mind off of them. I do have household help. I thought that they would be better by now with the warmer weather, but not so much. It takes me forever to type which is why my comments are so short, and why I don't answer right away! So forgive me if my answers are short. I'm on the computer today, with the help of pain meds and muscle relaxers, but I've decided to type only every other day until I get better.

I have had medical care and physical therapy over the past few months, now I am being referred to an orthopedic hand specialist. The good news is I will see him in less than two weeks! Woo-hoo! I can't wait! I am so looking forward to seeing him and so hopeful that he can help me! In the meantime, go Spark People!

Thinking and praying for you.....hope springs eternal. Lord, let the doctor have a download from you about what to do. It occurs to me that healing can be immediate, like in miracles and also they can be progressive. We don't care which you choose, Lord....just make our friend well. emoticon And then let the testimonies begin.....We love hearing from you whether it be short messages, medium or long. Keep on keeping on, my friend.

The Devil and the Angel

Sunday, April 20, 2014

The devil on my shoulder says I took the easy way out. The angel says it was a great decision. Instead of cooking up a large Easter dinner, or going to relatives only to bring home leftovers, I choose to take my family out to our local Best Western's Easter Buffet. Loads of great gourmet food that fit my eating plan, beautiful ambiance and decor (with an ice sculpture, yah!), excellent service, wonderful family and friends! AND I didn't overeat, drank lots of water and enjoyed my family! I didn't even touch the dozens of rich, carb-laden desserts! Tomorrow, I will eat my planned meals in my freezer! Great advice, angel! Woo-hoo!

Who wrote the law that says you have to cook on holidays?? In my little family, I cook on Thanksgiving, Christmas and St. patty's day. All other holidays we dine out, and we emoticon LOVE emoticon it ! Sushi on birthdays, Olive garden for Easter or whatever. And we have more fun!! People know to send us gift cards for presents because we love to eat out. You've got one good angel on your shoulder. emoticon

Great Idea _ I think I will try that one next year and take my relatives who are 80+ years old.

I went to my Aunt & Uncles with my son.

We ate at 4pm _ Had in moderation the Sweet potatoe supreme, mashed potatoes & gravy, turkey & stuffing and a beer. I didn't eat lunch

I did take leftovers home - but I am still working out 6 days a week

Well I did cook a small but big dinner & everything is evenly seasoned.... My hubby, my youngest son, my daughter her 2 kids with my mother-in-law chowed down. I had to put the ham away cause I kept snacking on that. But that was my meal of the day... no regrets but now feet hurt going out would've been great too.

God bless you! emoticon

He arose!
