Every time I finish tracking for the day, and do my report, I'm always dismayed when it says that I haven't had enough iron, calcium, etc. I know that I have, because I take vitamins daily. Finally it occurred to me to do a search for vitamin tracking, and Voila! my vitamins were listed! Wow! Now I'm more accurate and I feel better!

    You will rarely meet all of your needs in one day. The dietician/nutritionist at the cancer center where I work says that the values are based on a 5 day window, meaning that some days you will exceed, others you will fall below but over time, they will work out. Also, every body has different nutritional requirements, so as long as you are eating balanced, it will work out. Don't stress it! I Actually took all the nutrients off except Calories/ protein and fiber,

Restaurant Success!

One of my most difficult challenges to eating healthier has always been eating out. Well, today we went to one of my favorite "pig out" restaurants, The Sahara for Mediterranean food. The atmosphere is so nice, the food is so delectable, and the portions are huge! I had one bite of the foods that I have chosen to limit, ate a large salad, a serving of vegetables, small portion of the delicious chicken, and wrapped up the rest to take home. I savored every morsel and took time to taste all the spices. I must admit, I have never eaten out so wisely before. I am so proud of myself! Thanks Spark Friends for making me so accountable!

    Huge accomplishment! Congrats, the thought of eating out makes me so nervous but I definitely check if the restaurant website has nutrition info and try to plan ahead.

    Excellent!

I always find that one key is to plan ahead and check the website if it's a chain - they have the nutritionals there for you to study before you go and are tempted by all those smells!

Feeling Better

I'm feeling so much better today. It's amazing how pain can effect your mood. I guess I was trying to comfort myself, because yesterday I ate 3 Breyers Carb Control Almond bars! :(
The good thing is, I still didn't go over my calorie allotment. The paraffin at therapy was very soothing, too. Thanks for all your well wishes!

    Glad to hear it. I discovered last year that counting calories made a big difference in my own weight loss -- even while sticking with the Atkins Diet. The double whammy really got me over a couple big blocks in my path!
