Happy Easter!

I went to visit my mother today, it was a pretty good visit. She is in a nursing home and I don't get to see her as often as I would like...since she is about 4 hours away from me. It was a beautiful day, so we went outside to a little deck that they have built beside a small stream. It was so peaceful and quiet...listening to the chirping of the birds and the gentle flowing of the water. It reminded me of something I heard on the radio...sometimes we need to just be quiet....there doesn't always have to be noise.....just sit quietly, and you will hear things that you would otherwise miss out on.

    I'm glad you had a good Easter visit with your mom. I agree that quiet is so relaxing and peaceful. We just don't have enough quiet times. emoticon

Spring time!!

I was driving home today, listening to the final Phillies Spring Training game....enjoying the sunshine...smelling freshly mowed grass....aahh spring time! It makes me feel soooo good!!

I have been feeling bloated the last couple days. I haven't been doing anything different as far as my eating habits go, so I don't know why I feel like this...hope it goes away soon. I am trying to drink more water to see if it helps.

Going to visit my mom...probably on Saturday....looking forward to the warm weather.

Reward day

My reward for my next goal is a massage...I am only one pound away from it...hope to hit it on Monday's weigh-in!! Last week, the masseuse called to say that she is running a special, so I went ahead and had my reward early....I hope I hit the goal soon...I can't give the massage back!! LOL!!

It was great! I am so relaxed and feeling great! If you have never had a full body massage...I recommend it!! It is so relaxing and invigorating!!

The sun is shining...daffodils are blooming...but it is a bit cool...SPRING!!!

    Good for you. Glad you enjoyed it. I have never had a full body massage. I have this thing about strange people touching me. It is good to reward ourselves with something other than food. I like to have a mani-pedi a few times a year as a treat. That is the most touching I can handle right now. Continued success!

Dining out doesn't scare me anymore!!

I am my mother's daughter...I LOVE to go out to eat....the problem is when you are dining out, you don't have as much control over what you are eating. After 2.5 solid months following a healthy eating plan, I really feel that I have overcome this problem. I really had to, since I stay away overnight for my job frequently so I have to be able to control my diet when I am away from home. Breakfast has always been one of the greatest challenges to me, I for some reason always felt that I HAD to have hotcakes or French toast or something like that when going out for breakfast...I don't feel that way anymore! Today we went to breakfast with my SIL, we went to Bob Evan's. I went online before we left to check out their menu. I even printed the online menu in case their menu didn't have the calories listed. I ate a sensible breakfast of egg substitute, one turkey sausage link, one piece of dry wheat toast (added my own no-sugar jelly that I brought with me) and a fruit and yogurt parfait. I was thrilled to see, when I got home that they have the nutrition listed for all of their food online, so I was able to track it all...I ended up eating only a few more calories than what I normally do for breakfast. That won't even matter since we had a late breakfast which was really more like brunch so I won't eat another meal till supper time. I know that I will be able to stay within my calorie range for the day! Planning is the key...I was completely satisfied with what I had to eat, didn't feel hungry or deprived! emoticon

  


Looking back

Today seemed like a good day to look back at some goals I have set along my journey. I am pleased with the results!

1. Eat a more balanced diet...I have done this...eating more protein and fat...not being afraid of fat, as long as it is good fat...eating less carbs...SUCCESS!!!
2. Stick to my calorie range...around 1300 to 1400 calories a day...I have done very well with this, not eating too little, but seldom coming close to my top end of 1560! SUCCESS!!
3. About five weeks ago, I committed to cutting back on my non-fat lattes at starbucks...my goal was to go without them for a week...in the past five weeks, i have had 1 or 2!! SUCCESS!!

Three big wins and still going strong!!

Goals I set for myself earlier on in my journey were to exercise for 30 minutes at least 5 days a week....I have done very well with this. I think there has been only one day that I didn't do any exercise...I do at least 10 minutes a day, and 30 minutes 5 or 6 days!!

If I had an event that I ate too much...it had to stop right there....I did well with this, also...I had a couple times that I went out to eat and ate more than I should have, but I didn't beat myself up, I just cut down for other meals so that I still stayed in my calorie range. I think I have had only one day that I went over my allowance for the day!!

It feels great to see the progress and successes that I am having...it really helps me to keep going each day!!
